Loch Long at Dornie. While getting gear out and ready for a wee walk up the track the heavens opened up, quick shot and back to the shelter of the car..lol A really nice loch this one with plenty of ops for shooting the camera but not so much on this visit, so a return is def on the cards.

i) E’ stato utilizzato il Faretto Manfrotto ML240 regolato ad 1/3 della potenza (luce 1900°Kelvin) posizionato sopra la scena (leggermente a sinistra) ed all’altezza delle ali della farfalla in modo da correggere le lievi ombre azzurre e abbassare la temperatura cromatica della scena per vivacizzare i colori rosso/arancio dei fiori e delle striature giallo ocra delle ali delle farfalle. Tutto il lavoro è stato effettuato verso le ore 9,30 del mattino (luce laterale proveniente da destra diretta del sole);

I spent a good few hours watching a group of Gannets tearing up the bank on the edge of the cliff ripping the long grass out and flying off with it for nesting material, I sneaked up on this one but it spotted me and gave me the Gannet Stare! ;)
A fantastic early morning at RSPB Bempton Cliffs.

“Without the play of light, form is inert and space becomes static; I would like to think that when I design buildings light is one of my first considerations”, remarked leoh Ming Pei in a conversation with writer Gero von Boehm. (1).
The 101 year old Chinese-American modernist architect I. M. Pei, endured a roasting from critics before the giant glass structure opened in 1989, with up to 90 percent of Parisians said to be against the project at one point. « I received many angry glances in the streets of Paris," Pei later said, confessing that "after the Louvre I thought no project would be too difficult ».(2).
« By copying the 51-degree angle of the Great Pyramid at Giza, Pei reproduced a famous icon and symbolically reinforced the Grand Louvre’s pursuit of high culture. At the same time he modernized the antique symbol with transparent glass. Providing a counterpoint to the iconic main pyramid, Pei also added an inverse pyramid and surrounded them with grass and water, intensifying the Egyptian metaphors of life and death. However, from a functional point of view, Pei sought a solution in which he could create an optically minimal volume in the main courtyard for the new entrance, respecting the existing buildings. During the daytime, the sides of the central pyramid reflect the sky. The surrounding water creates a reflecting pool, underlining Pei’s desire to create a light atmosphere and to dematerialize the Egyptian symbol. Even from the underground entrance, visitors can enjoy the view to the surrounding historical Louvre facades. The filigree construction on the underside has turned the icon into a high-tech element, and at night the pyramid appears like an urban jewel in the city of Paris. » (1).
Interestingly, Pei was in the news earlier this week (17 October 2018) when he became the victim of a celebrity death hoax claiming that the 101 year old architect had passed away. Happily, this is not the case and Pei is still very much alive (3).

I was struggling to find something colourful and interesting to illustrate this challenge, then remembered this amazing project my sister managed. It worked with a local social enterprise to turn old PPE (personal protective equipment) workwear into a whole range of things - other clothes, reflective armbands for cyclists/children, and these amazing bags.
Made from the trouser legs of refuse collectors workwear (fully cleaned of course!) - the reflective strips are excellent to make you show up when it is over your shoulder!

John Thomas North, conocido como "el rey del salitre", fue uno de los empresarios extranjeros que mayor influencia ejerció en la historia de Chile del siglo XIX, por lo que no es casual que se haya convertido en una figura polémica dentro de la historiografía nacional. A comienzos de 1889 organizó y llevó a cabo una extensa travesía a lo largo de todo el país, emprendiendo una activa campaña de relaciones públicas y sociales, brindando banquetes e inaugurando diversas ceremonias en homenaje de las distintas localidades, con pomposa publicidad.
Los alcances y motivos que lo llevaron a ejecutar este plan de recorrido son, sin duda, elementos de variadas interpretaciones, que sólo reflejan la polifacética personalidad de John Thomas North. La sombra de la Guerra Civil de 1891 se proyecta sobre Chile.
De entre los miembros, que formaron parte de la
comitiva que acompañó en su viaje a North a Chile,
venía un periodista, que había sido corresponsal del
Times, nos referimos a William Howard Russell, quien
se encargó de registrar todos los pormenores del
viaje desde su inicio en febrero, hasta su regreso
a Inglaterra en junio de 1889, con este material
escribió la obra titulada: “A visit to Chile and the
Nitrate Fields of Tarapaca”, que fue publicado en
Londres en el año 1890

in the last several months I've been seeking inspiration in other various forms of art such as performance art, fashion and costume design, and dance to name a few. my friend Ken suggested I write down this name: Pina Bausch. You should too. I found a copy of the film Pina by Wim Wenders at the library and was amazed at what I saw. an incredible blend of theater and modern dance. I was inspired to create this image based on one of the pieces from the film where many chairs were being stacked and also crawled through at the same time. I was very taken by the form of everything and that at any moment the chairs could come tumbling down...
Dance, dance... otherwise we are lost.

When I was here last time I didn't get a shot of what, from a distance appears to be a bracketed gantry on the north side of the station - only when close did I see it was two separate signals!
Not sure how long the 25 short HST sets have to go in Scotland - rumour is they'll be phased out over the next year or two, no doubt replaced by some inferior riding Japanese or Spanish tat!

i am still swimming in the sea even though the temperature is dipping below 5°c (41°f). because its dark i don't tend to take my water proof camera to swimming with me. also because its so cold there is not enough time to bang off a roll before you have to get out. but imagine this: 2 days ago what you see in the photo was covered in ice from because of a leaking pipe on the pier. quite surreal swimming round it i can tell you, really wish i had a camera with me.
Ice that had formed in a meandering stream and 'copied' the shape of the stream in its folds. Sometimes its almost as if the 'ideas' of forms and shapes exist before those forms become manifest in nature and preceed even the physical forces that eventually reveal them
STEAM INCORPORATED
Formed fifty years ago in 1972 Steam Incorporated is based at Paekakariki on the Kapiti coast near Wellington, on the North Island of New Zealand, where its primary purpose is to rebuild and maintain heritage railway equipment to the high standard required for main-line operation.
As part of the organisation's 50th anniversary celebrations, they ran one of their Ja class steam locomotives, an Ab class locomotive, and a pair of heritage Diesels on a short section of track; for a 'fee' of $50, members of the Public could drive one of the locomotives during the three day weekend that has just concluded...!
The experience was in high demand...!!!
Ja 1271 AND ITS CLASS MATES
There is much that could be written about this Class of locomotive, but I'll limit myself to just two facts, namely:
1. there are numerous instances of this type of locomotive charging across the Plains of the South Island at sustained speeds of 70mph (112kph) or more while hauling the South Island Limited Express that consisted of ten carriages (or coaches, but remember: we're influenced by British terminology!),
and
2. for an engine with just 56 inch driving wheels, this resulted in a rotational speed of 360 revolutions a minute or 6 revolutions a second - quite an achievement for the 3 foot 6 inch track gauge and a locomotive, that by world standards, fell into the "mixed traffic" class...!
TODAY
Today, however, it was rather pleasant to just sit and enjoy the warm sun, to watch Ja 1271 trundle quietly down a short length of track, and to allow my imagination to take me back to the days when it and its Class mates stormed across the Plains of the South Island, white clag / exhaust streaming behind, driving rods a blur of high speed motion, and the noise on the footplate a cacophony of Sound...!
Sigh... Those were the days...!

Part of the spring that forms around Jacob's well, close to where nine people have died. The park isn't exactly forthcoming with that information, but it did happen. When I reached the well itself, one of the the park rangers was impressed when I brought it up. I asked her, "So is this the only way in?" She was like "What do you mean?" LOL. You could tell she we nervous because she thought I might have plans to go cave

Introduction to the Rovingian Quest: The Language of Silence
Rovingian nomadic monks are known for their dedication to the quest for sacred symbols and geometries, transcending the boundaries of traditional ritualistic patterns. For these monks, the spiritual world does not express itself through alphabetic languages, whether spoken or written. Instead, they believe that spiritual communication manifests itself through a visual language composed of geometric forms and patterns that are incorporated into the very structure of Nature and the Universe.
The Language of Silence
By rejecting spoken languages, Rovingians aim to eliminate cultural and mental barriers, seeking a direct and intuitive connection with the cosmos. This connection is achieved through the study and contemplation of sacred geometries, symbols, and ritualistic patterns. Thus, they pave the way for silent communication, a truly profound visual language that allows for a dialogue with the universe without the limitations of words.
The Visual Language: While words vary and disappear over time, the ways in which the triangle or spiral maintains mathematical meaning anywhere in the universe highlight its universal and timeless value.
The Geometric Source Code of the Universe
Rovingians believe that the universe is governed by a fundamental geometric code. Understanding this code allows one to unravel the hidden order of reality. For them, studying sacred geometry is a way to reconnect with the cosmos, treating nature as a true living temple, and the universe as a symbolic book, open to interpretation.
The Living Temple: For the monks, the world does not contain temples; the world is the temple itself. Natural elements, such as a nautilus shell or a quartz crystal, are seen as sacred scriptures. For example, the quartz crystal is not just a mineral, but a geometric lesson on order, clarity, and repetition.
