Photo for Mike Thompson. In his own words:

With Heroin being a very destructive drug, I took great care to be sure that it was as clear about its dangers as it was cleanly presented. The word ‘warning’ appears in large, red, all capped letters which wrap around four edges of the box. The warnings are also able to repeat themselves without interruption once several boxes are stacked upon on another. They also lead into the warning information which is large and displayed on the back.

The package contains a small syringe, which would hold only one dose, and the surgical tubing that is used to block the blood flow while injecting. All of this is meant to be used once and easily disposed of to discourage the sharing of needles. The needle is intentionally small so that dosage can be somewhat limited, therefore overdosing somewhat prevented.

Today over 220 fine folk participated in the March For Science in Morris, Minnesota, which represents a pretty significant percentage of the local populace out here in rural Minnesota. :-)

These photos go from the gathering of the marchers, through the march, and to the milling about and chatting that eventually results after a small town event.

People should feel free to use any/all of these pictures however they wish. On the flip side, if you appear in any of these pictures and would prefer to have those pictures removed, please let me know right away and I'll take care of that.

Thanks to everyone that turned up. SCIENCE IS AWESOME (and really, really important)!

The Performing for the Camera project, dedicated to the students of the art academies of Florence (Italian and international), comes from the idea of using the Marina Abramović exhibition. The Cleaner (21 September 2018-20 January 2019) as a research ground on the relationship between photography and performance, offering students the opportunity to try their hand at producing new works of art and publishing a publication.

The activity, which will have a three-month development, will allow students to approach the close link between performance and photography by analyzing the relationships and specificities of the two artistic languages. Among the events at Palazzo Strozzi are also scheduled two talks with the artists Francesca Banchelli and Caterina Pecchioli to encourage a direct confrontation with two professionals whose practice is related to the subject matter.

The theme will offer students an overview of photography used as a tool for performance documentation, or practiced as a performative act in itself, to be interpreted and applied in the field of artistic research. In the second phase of the project the works created by the students will become the material for the realization of a publication edited by the students themselves.

The project is carried out in collaboration with:

Painted steel

Jason Meadows designed Spatio Virtuo Teatro for South Coast Repertory Theater with the intention of bringing the theater outdoors. The pink, purple, blue, and silver painted steel sculptures offer guests a glimpse at the experiences they could expect inside. Near the theater box office, The Storyteller sits at the end of a bench excitedly telling his tale to passersby. Herald represents the playgoer and sits watching, while Upstage/Downstage represents the stage itself, complete with overhead lighting and theatrical crew. The Los Angeles-based artist’s work has been featured at the Los Angeles Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Tate Modern in London.

For my A level photography, we're doing Journey's.. I chose Journey through winter, and came up with all these ideas on how to represent winter without using snow.. and then the next week. it snows. i really couldnt miss the opportunity. So out i ran, with an umbrella to shield my camera, and my mum's wellies, into untouched fields. ;)

And now, for some relief from my new-kit-madness, here's a smiling goat from Switzerland!

Charmaine Olivia is part artist, part internet celebrity, and it is no surprise that many fans and followers alike filled Shooting Gallery in San Francisco for her latest show "Ritual" - which explores the themes of magic and earth energies within a series of imagined females from a mythology of the artist’s own creation. Olivia seems to have captured her design aesthetic in everything from studio styled installations, the clothes she wears, and in the dark muses that adorn the gallery walls.

After a natural catastrophe pitted the most fearsome warriors against one another in a fight for resources and territory, the bloodthirsty warlord Apollyon believes the people of the Knights, Vikings, and Samurai have grown weak and want to create an age of all-out war through manipulation of each faction. To this end the perspectives of characters within each faction are shown as events are shaped, battles are waged, and agendas are created as Apollyon works to ensure continuous sparks of conflict between the Legion, the Warborn, and the Chosen from the Myre.
