Rainbow Bricks returned to Medowie for Medowie Brickfest on a beautiful sunny Spring Saturday 15th September. This community event was a successful day for everyone. And was one of the first events to support all 3 Medowie schools.
We had over 35 Rainbow Bricks exhibitors from across NSW bring their creations and collections to display. Included were many first time exhibitors who had a ball and will be back again to display.
There was something for the kids of all ages. There were displays with vintage sets through to some brand new sets such as Hogwarts Castle and motorised Roller Coast. Of course we have lots of MOCs [My Own Creations] on display including a huge new city tower building and a motorised Dr Who's K9.
As well as displays we had plenty of activities for the kids and the yong at heart to do after being inspirated by the displays. There was a new Tower building activity for the kids which was a hit and will be at other events going forward. As a result of the kids work we have some ideas on improving this activity which is great. Plus all the old favourities like the Build area, RC Tracker driving area and the Speed Builds where there and as popular as ever.
For ten years, from 1921 to 1931, Rolls-Royce manufactured cars in Springfield, Massachusetts to meet the American demand for their luxury cars. Among those made here were this particular Rolls-Royce, which was owned by S. Prestley Blake, the co-founder of the Friendly Ice Cream Corporation.
For any family or friends that do not know, these are two of my friends, Jason and Emma Kate. He is one of my best friends, a year older than me (3rd year), and he studies mechanical engineering. She is the same age as me (2nd year), and studies Psychology.

Field Trip - 09/06/16 - Roughdown Common - Hemel Hempstead
The Herts Moth Group assembled at Roughdown Common for their third official outing of the year.
Roughdown Common is an exceedingly important site for wildlife on the doorstep of the hustle and bustle of sub-urban Hemel Hempstead.
Predominantly chalk grassland with an intersecting wooded section and split right down the middle by the A41, Roughdown Common is an outstanding site for a variety of moth species.
We arrived at 7.30pm, early enough to have a walk around with a net and pots and we quickly added 17 species to kick-start our list, amongst the swarms of Diamond-back moths for which we netted 2/3rds of the time there was plenty of other species to keep us interested.
Species such as Eupoecilia angustana, Micropterix aruncella and Cauchas fibulella were absolutely stunning to observe.
By 8.30pm the rest of the team had arrived...we would need the extra hands to set up the 11 traps!
We decided to cover all areas of the reserve with traps out in the open field, some along the border of the A41 and then running through the wood and over-looking the Dell.
Conditions were pretty much perfect, no wind, warm at 22 degrees and with a smattering of thin cloud which would hopefully be just enough to lock the warmth in and it was, with a comfortable 13 degrees when I left at 2am.
The variety of moths was pretty astounding and despite quite possibly the slowest Spring on record things are beginning to pick up.
Highlights from the traps were Small Angle Shades, Dark Sword-grass, Puss Moth, Figure of Eighty and Alabonia geoffrella, the latter typically being a day-flying moth but both of my records have been to light!
I think we were a little bit early for the typical chalkland species such as Pretty Chalk Carpet and Royal Mantle, the vegetation being about 2 weeks behind he norm would suggest so.
Final list is pending- 142 species so far
Numbers below are approximate as it really was hard trying to count them all!

no makeup, chapstick, diamond earrings, walmart sunglasses, llbean winter coat (a must in NH), messy hair, driving my four yr old to preschool. My honest, everyday style. i'm not sure if it actually qualifies as 'style' but it's me.
i like this image, i even took it myself, with my right hand at 50 miles an hour. I know, not the safest thing in the world, but it worked..
i like this image large, you can see the wrinkles and blemishes.. the beginnings of age spots.

The idea for the Heroes Project came to me as we begin to emerge from the darkness of the last year brought about by the Covid 19 Pandemic.
Looking at the images for this project you will see people portrayed as if in a spotlight , like stage performers or as David Bowie would say "Heroes Just For One Day".
As people enter the Abbeygate entrance to the Park they are in darkness. However there is a window in this 14th century building that casts a light into which some people walk This project focuses on this spot of light In Bury St Edmunds.
I can only take shots when there is strong sunlight and at certain times of the day when the light is cast through the window
please pray for suffering people in disaster areas.
Thanks, shotam (shota mitsuyasu, Nara, Japan)

For the first time in its history, the UCI held a round in the UK and outside of mainland Europe, with round three of the six round 2014/15 Cyclo-cross World Cup competition held in Campbell Park in Milton Keynes.
There was a Belgian 1-2 in the men’s elite race with the winner being Sunweb-Napoleon Games team rider & World Cup leader Kevin Pauwels who held off a determined attack from team mate and compatriot Klaas Vantornout. Third place went to Frenchman Francis Mourey with Britain’s Ian Field of the Hargroves team coming in 12th; his highest ever result in a World Cup and a good result on home soil
