In the tenements of New York City in the late 19th and early 20th century, apartments were built with bedrooms on top of one another. It was common to hear your upstairs neighbour take off a shoe, drop it, and then repeat the action. It became shorthand for waiting for something you knew was coming.

After the beautiful lilac light the skies quickly turned grey. And time to head back home for some dry footware!
How i feel this morning, lots to do but not sure where to start, think a touch of caffeine will send me in the right direction, have a good weekend every one ;-))))))

Milky Way at Corfe Castle, Dorset
It was last September I last shot the Milky Way as between cloud cover, my schedule, visibility times ad just general struggle to get motivated I did get out in October of March. Knowing by the time I get down to Cornwall in May the MWC opportunity will have passed I knew I ought to take the opportunity if I could.
I wasn't sure from the various Apps if the cloud cover would clear enough and if there was too much light pollution at Corfe but as it's only 75mins drive away and it looked like being the only clear night this week I got home from work, charged up my Move Shoot Move Star tracker and powerbank and set off just before midnight for a 2am-3:30am MWC opportunity. Ughhh....The things I do!!
Never shot the MWC here before so a bit of a desktop exercise suggested somewhere lower down near the field gateway and guessed I was right when I arrived to find another Tog already there. Bit rusty getting the kit set up and the MSM aligned but managed it and got shooting for around 75mins.
By the time I packed up there was hoarfrost on my tripod so I was glad I had heated pads in my footware as well as normal layers.
Compared to many shots of the MWC I see on here I'm a bit disappointed but then I try to remember I have my L Plates on still and 'only' have an f/2.8 lens and the light pollution at Corfe is fairly significant compared to the Jurassic Coast.. Sigma do a 20mm f/1.4 Art Lens for Canon DSLR's which I could use with the adapter but having got the R5 I'm trying to be sensible!
The sky is a 4min exposure at ISO250at f/2.8 which I've blended with a 2min exposure at ISO200 f/5.0 for Corfe Castle. I have purposely kept the castle and ground fairly dark just lifting the shadows a bit.
Hope everyone in the UK has a great Bank Holiday weekend.

I made this crate recently and decided to show off my new winter boots.
Autumn is now upon us so It was the ideal time to go to Barling Nature Reserve and capture some autumnal colours.
Just out of interest my new boots are :- Salomon Quest Prime GTX High Rise (Swamp / Night Forest) Hiking Boots.
They contain Gor-tex so should be fairly water proof for those damp photography trips.
I added my Apeman H45 Trail Camera and a few conkers for good measure.
I used a Hoya Pro1 Digital Circular Polariser Filter, a Lee 0.9 Pro Glass Filter and a Lee Enhancer Filter, this image was taken using the in camera HDR.

2 photo panorama. Not much water over the falls. However, if you go there after rain make sure you have waterproof footware. Tricky path could be slippery if wet.
I shot this macro especially for this week's Macro Mondays theme on Footware, HMM
I don't see penny loafers anymore. When I was in High School, in the early fifties, well-shined loafers with shiny copper pennies inserted into the slot made for them were the standard footwear of young people.
I decided that shinny dimes were smarter because they were useful if you ran out of money. A bus ride cost a nickel or a dime and a phone call cost a dime. My allowance including working on Sundays for my Dad was four dollars. I generally spent about a dollar on books or magazines. Plus, another dollar for malteds. Dating ate money rather quickly and I needed to be sure I had the fare home or for a call for help to my Dad tucked away in my shiny loafers.
It was way past midnight when I took this and I had just walked 5 miles in not so suitable footware. I think if I had stuck around longer I may have captured a more colourful trail of lights but I'm afraid my bed was calling. I hope you like what I managed to capture however...
Thanks for all the amazing support everyone! Your comments and likes enspire me to work harder and keep going. Finally I feel like I'm onto something good and I couldn't have done it without your amazing support and feedback ~KM <3
It's been a strange couple of days where synchronicity after synchronicity has occurred, making me wonder if something cosmic is happening...not photographically of course; it's still ( but only just) summer and I don't really take good photos in summer!
However, I did take this shot today which isn't great but not too bad...
I wasn't planning on going out but I visited Cotswold Outdoor this morning to look into some new boots (my current pair of La Sportivas have lasted just over a year) and came out carrying a pair of Scarpa R-Evo Pro GTX.
With that in mind I had to go out and test them so rather than drive anywhere I headed up Siabod and the boots are brilliant as were the amazing Cotswold lads who gifted me with some 'game changing' customer service! An excellent shop and the best in Snowdonia for all things footware.
So, back to the photo...
This tiny pool (puddle) is on the NE ridge of Siabod and I always stop here incase there is a shot on. There rarely is but it surprised me to find that the last shot I took here was in 2011, back in my photographic novitiate!
I did of course wait for an hour to capture this as wave after wave of clag rolled in and then out again before the drizzle came to signal my descent to the Tyn y Coed for my 3rd steak and chips in as many days...
