In April 2014, ten years after joined Flickr, I reached the milestone of one million views, one year and three months later ... the milestone of two million !
My walk around here have been wonderful and highly motivating on the way I started living and facing photography.

A distant memory of sunny days and when Flickr used to be far more user friendly. I am becoming more and more disillusioned with how slow Flickr has become since the recent changes; this is regardless of which computer, Ipad, browser or broadband I seem to use. Most of the time It takes an age for thumbnails to open and I am rapidly becoming fed up with looking at the red and blue circles accompanied by an out of focus image. It may well be down to higher quality downloads being allowed, which are slowing the system down - who knows?
I dread to think what it will be like should even more changes be imposed upon us.
Sadly I am getting to the stage where I'm beginning to wonder if Flickr is deserving of my support and the support of its loyal customers!
PS. This is a photo of a Blue-Tailed Damselfly...

so i picked up a used Fuji X100 and this was one of the first images i took of my little Ava,a jpeg with a b/w red split-tone film simulation filter with a little 20 second edit in lightroom, think i m gonna like this camera!

Ladet dieses Bild herunter und ladet es am Sonntag, den 5. Januar auf Euren Fotostream. Ihr könnt aber auch ein eigenes Bild gestalten (es sollte aber zur Kampagne passen) und mit dem hier vorgestellten Text in einer Sprache Eurer Wahl versehen und am 5. Januar hochladen. Solltet Ihr am 5. Januar nicht online sein können, solltet Ihr es natürlich vorher hochladen.
Beta ist eine Test-Vorschau der Änderungen, welche in Kürze bei Flickr eingeführt werden. Es soll einer kleineren Gruppe von Mitgliedern ermöglichen, ihre Meinung zu äussern und eventuelle Fehler aufzuzeigen, bevor es endgültig eingeführt wird.
Änderungen sind nicht unbedingt schlecht und immer willkommen, wenn sie gut gemacht werden, vor allen wenn sie ein Programm benutzerfreundlicher oder einfacher zu bedienen machen oder neuere, interessantere Funktionen als der Vorgänger bieten.
Die hier aber vorgestellte Betaversion der geplanten Änderungen sind für die meisten Flickr Benutzer* (die es ausprobieren durften) völlig inakzeptabel! Es ist weder benutzerfreundlich und hat nur Nachteile gegenüber der alten oder bisherigen Version aufzuzeigen.

Das Layout selbst ist schon ein Desaster.

Wie man es auch dreht und wendet, es ist offensichtlich, das in Zukunft wesentlich weniger Platz für Beschreibungen, Kommentarfelder und Kommentare vorhanden ist, Kommentare mit Bildern, Gruppeneinladungen und Auszeichnungen werden problematisch bis unmöglich. Je mehr man seitens der Entwickler versucht, Dinge zu verbessern und Fehler auszumerzen, desto mühseliger und schwerfälliger wird das Ganze! Die "Buddy Icons" erscheinen nun als Punkt und machen die Seite noch unschöner als hier (englisch): Frühe Fotos von der Betaversion.
Man versucht krampfhaft, es nett und benutzerfreundlich zu machen, was im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes mit diesem Layout unmöglich ist. Es ist eine große Herausforderung für die Entwickler, eine Möglichkeit für mehr Platz in einer senkrechten Spalte zu schaffen, die bereits eingeengt daher kommt! Ist es vielleicht möglich, auf 100 Quadratmetern ein Fußballstadion zu bauen?

This was a diroama that took a long time to make and it seemed like I posted Frozen photos for ages!!

For heaven's sake let us turn off Justified Images and reintroduce pagination... at least then this mess might not run so damn slow.

Please forgive me for having uploaded the Nelson Mandela Memorial photos first. But I felt this was a worthy exception to today now. I didn't see the protest until I had uploaded them.
Out the front window, my wife noticed icy snow tracks that look like paired hearts. Somehow, this image makes you feel warmer on a bitterly cold January day.

Group Description
A monthly challenge for doll photographers to find inspiration and contribute. Three to four themes based on each letter of the alphabet will be presented each month.
Members can submit a photo for one, two, or all themes. At the end of the month, members will vote for their favorite photos.
Participation is based on your time and inspiration. While we hope everyone can create a photo for each month, it is not required. Come and go as you like!
Submit just one photo per theme. Last day to submit photos for these themes is August 31st!

Themes for the month of August:
S - Spiral
Swirl. Coil. Twist. Curl. Life is made up of many different shapes, and spirals are one of the most common and interesting. For this theme, show us how spirals are found in your dolly's life, too! Does your doll have luscious curly hair or a favorite pair of earrings that coil to her collarbone? Maybe the focal point of your doll's home is a magnificent spiral staircase or colorful spiral tie dye wall art. Is your doll a scientist studying hurricane patterns, DNA strands, fingerprints, or even the Milky Way? Or perhaps your doll loves the outdoors and finds spirals in things like flower petals, snail shells, and landscapes like Spiral Jetty. There are lots of possibilities to swirl around in your head for this theme!
T - Turban
The turban is a headdress predominantly worn in countries of the eastern Mediterranean and southern Asia because of cultural views and/or religious beliefs. However, the turban is found in many cultures and countries throughout the entire world and is often used as a fashion accessory. For this theme, you must show us your doll(s) donning this head wrap fashion. Does your doll live in a country such as Afghanistan, India, or Nigeria, where the turban has a strong cultural significance? Maybe your doll loves the vintage knotted turban look of Old Hollywood or jeweled turbans worn by flappers of the 1920s. Perhaps your doll favors colorful headscarf wraps like those seen in Cuban fashion or those often worn by Rockabilly Girls. Or maybe your doll likes the easy, carefree look of a turban while gardening, doing housework, or spending a day at the beach. How you approach this theme is entirely up to you.
U - Undercover
“My name is Bond… James Bond.” Have you ever wondered what secret lives your dolls might lead when you're not looking? Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to show us your doll(s) playing the role of a spy or informant. Is your doll an FBI, Secret Service, or CIA agent strategically gathering information for a covert operation in an underground computer lab? Maybe your doll is a journalist wearing a disguise to infiltrate a certain group or situation to break open a story. Perhaps your doll is a private investigator (PI) tracking a suspected individual to gain evidence for a case. Or maybe your doll is a double agent secretly working on the behalf of an enemy. You can show us the glamorous, dangerous, thrilling or research-filled part of this theme. This mission will expire on August 31st.
Make sure to title your photos with the theme you are representing. (example: A-Z challenge: A - All Aboard!)

Hi everyone. I am taking a break from flickr so that I can raise this little guy. He is a very demanding pup and it takes a lot of attention and patience to make sure he grows up right. I still browse thru photos here and there... but my time at the computer has diminished dramatically. As he gets older, and I figure out ways to keep him occupied, I will be back here more and more.
**Actually I just gave him a bacon flavoured teething bone and it's working wonders. Ahhhh, peace and quiet!**
update: i signed to the petition a couple of days ago and got now this answer via email:
I am sorry to say, I am declaring Flickr a complete lose. Our campaign has failed to gain the momentum needed to gain the number of signatures needed to make a impression on the Flickr Staff. In addition, the Flickr team is taking proactive steps to Ban any users they know have signed the petition.......
well: if this might be the case that the flickr team will acting like this i will be just speechless.
