I've been trying to get up some enthusiasm to post something on this mess of a website that flickr has become.
I didn't want to post anything until my monstrosity of a home page finished loading. I opened my homepage sometime yesterday morning. 30 hours later, it's STILL loading. Is there actually a bottom to the new flickr homepage. Has flickr ever considered that there may be people with a limit to how many gig per month they can load on the internet? Anyone getting internet on a smartphone generally has a limit.
Loading… Loading… Loading… Loading… Loading… Loading… Loading… Loading… Loading…
So, now we can see 20 comments under a photo rather than just four. That's a step in the right direction. Maybe flickr is listening somewhat to the millions of complaints. Unfortunately that hasn't fixed the main problem. It's the FIRST 20 comments we need to see under a photo, not the LAST 20 comments. I have posted hundreds of photo series, or picture stories. Now any photo that has more than 20 comments, those comment photos are not visible unless you click on "View 20 more comments". Who is going to do that? How would anyone even know that there are additional photos posted in the comments? This NEEDS to be fixed, flickr. Thousands of hours of work by myself and many others posting photo series has been destroyed.
Has flickr ever heard of beta testing?
I opened my flickr homepage last week and it was like I was punched in the face…
And, why is the comment box so damn small. I can't even read what I just typed five seconds ago?

I particularly like constructive criticism, I want to learn it better go on, give me many tips or food for thought as much. This image I have chosen me because it symbolizes for me that I personally in this one year here so I grew. ;0)

Glücklich ...ein Jahr Flickr!
Heute vor einem Jahr meldete ich mich hier an und war vom gleichen Augenblick gefangen von diesem Forum. Diese Vielfältigkeit an Eindrücke, festgehalten in Bildern, fesselt mich jeden Tag auf`s neue!!
Vorallem möchte ich mich auch bedanken bei einigen Kontakte die immerwieder meine Seite besuchen und Kommentare dalassen!! Danke!
Besonders gut finde ich konstruktive Kritik, den ich will lernen es besser zumachen,die viele Tipps oder Denkanstöße geben mir so viel. Dieses Bild hab ich mir ausgesucht, weil es für mich symbolisiert das ich persönlich in diesem einen Jahr hier so gewachsen bin. ;0)

The problem with having a Flickr intervention would be getting people away from their computers long enough to have one.
Inspired by a bodhi47 comment.
Since Flickr dramatically revamped their website (unbeknownst and without warning to their users), many disgruntled members wrote of their dismay (over 30,000 replies and counting!) in the FLICKR Help Forum, some expressing outright disgust and disappointment, while others are calling for a reversal or at least a choice (more control) over how one's Flickr homepage should look.
Some comments:
- "Visual cacophony.. Is this what passes for good graphic design in art school these days?"
- "...endless jumble"
"This new Flickr looks like Google Images."
- "INSTEAD of giving us MORE set up options from which we can choose how we want our photos displayed they have now forced upon us the infinite scroll view. "
- "...a community has been lost."
Not only were users not given the choice whether to upgade to the new look or keep the original (classic) design, but gone is the ability to pick and choose your layout.
Also, without providing any kind of comparison between the old and new layout, Flickr sneakily neglected to mention they had done away with the "unlimited" space for PRO accounts - which in the past cost 24.99$ per year - and will now charge 49.99$ - for the privledge of going "ad free."
There are so many things that have gone wrong with Flickr's redesign (who decided that words, descriptions, and stories on photos were no longer important?), and so much backlash as a result, that it would be redundant to repost it some of it here. Suffice to say, the following articles sum up the whole flickr fiasco rather well:

"Yahoo has new ideas. flickr is offering 1 TB free space for all accounts. Those who want to be rid of advertisements have to pay.
I appeal you all those who plan to quit, to change your mind and stay. You can make use of your accounts just for storage. Make your accounts private, make this image public and use flickr for storage. You can save on external hard disks.
If we check in to a hotel room seeing it's features, should we bear it without a word of protest if they take away the furniture one by one including the bed ? flickr should know that the people who protest are not against 'changes'.
Changes shouldn't steal away the utilities that made people choose flickr.
Protest ! flickr is not just the property of few people who get paid to serve the people that make it. If they offer 1 TB free space for every account, the salaried people who planned it have advertisements in mind. Many unique special utilities made people like you and me join flickr, and flickr is taking away all what that made us choose it. Now the only special thing in flickr is 1 TB free storage. Let's then make use of it, without caring about flickr's revenue. We can seek better places for what we like, still keep this place for storage. With the new platform Beta Team Flickr intend to make further changes that will limit severely the exchanges between users:
1 - There will be no white space below the photo for description, comments or invitations to groups
2 - Difficult to write a comment that contains more than 3 words
3 - We can not see who supports our pics
4 - We can not see in which groups the photo appears
5 - The images of the award will not be visible
6 - The visits will no longer be visible. The latter will only appear in Recent Activity, others will be lost.
7 - For Admin it will become impossible to manage groups so many will close.
8 - Our descriptions, including quotes, links to YouTube or other sites will be hidden

"Yahoo has new ideas. flickr is offering 1 TB free space for all accounts. Those who want to be rid of advertisements have to pay.
I appeal you all those who plan to quit, to change your mind and stay. You can make use of your accounts just for storage. Make your accounts private, make this image public and use flickr for storage. You can save on external hard disks.
If we check in to a hotel room seeing it's features, should we bear it without a word of protest if they take away the furniture one by one including the bed ? flickr should know that the people who protest are not against 'changes'.
Changes shouldn't steal away the utilities that made people choose flickr.
Protest ! flickr is not just the property of few people who get paid to serve the people that make it. If they offer 1 TB free space for every account, the salaried people who planned it have advertisements in mind. Many unique special utilities made people like you and me join flickr, and flickr is taking away all what that made us choose it. Now the only special thing in flickr is 1 TB free storage. Let's then make use of it, without caring about flickr's revenue. We can seek better places for what we like, still keep this place for storage. If the 'hotel' stinks and cheated us, make it your warehouse or sty. If this is forced on us, you can make your account private, store everything here; display , share and comment elsewhere.

This is an incredible regression .....once again
No longer any white space underneath pictures for comments, description, invitations etc....
Everything is gathered in a tiny sidebar to the right of the photo in the Lightbox
All features that allow interaction and sharing have gone so groups might also disappear ......

Unfortunately it is obvious that Yahoo wants to turn Flickr into another social network for teens and young using only tablets and smartphones and whose only interaction is Hi or Lol
Motivated photographers using computers and large screens are no longer interesting users.... ( nor groups since our invitations are only visible on our "Recent Activity "Page....The oldest are lost ....)
How many people know what represents the Beta Page ?? I wonder ?

Yahoo and Flickr don't care
Unfortunately it is obvious that Yahoo wants to turn Flickr into another social network for people (mainly teens and young ) using only tablets and smartphones and whose only interaction is Hi or Lol
Motivated photographers still using computers (with photo-softwares) and large screens are no longer desirable customers....
( nor groups since our invitations are only visible on our "Recent Activity "Page....The oldest are lost ....and everything is done to impede their functioning)
Advertising is much much more lucrative than our Pro accounts .......
How many people know what represents the Beta Page ?? I wonder ?

Pulicat lake bird sanctuary is a saline backwater lake lying along the T.N.-A.P coast; part extending to Chengalpattu district of T.N. It has an area of 481 sq.KM and it is the 2nd largest brackish water lagoon in India after Chilka lake in Orissa. The area on the TN side is 153.67 sq.km.
The Pulicat sanctuary is drained by Arni river while the Buckingham canal brings in the city’s drainage water. At the southern end is an opening on to Bay of Bengal through a shallow mouth of 200 m in width. The rest of the lake is closed by a sand bar running parallel to the Bay of Bengal in the form of the Sriharikota island.
The sanctuary has an area of 321 Sq. KM with 108 sq.KM of National Park area.
It lies within 11o 30’ N to 11o 42’ N and 76o 30’ E to 76o 45’ E.
Rainfall ranges from 800 - 2000mm. Temperature varies from 14o C to 33o C.
Altitude ranges from 100’ MSL to 1200’ MSL.
The wetlands eco system are considered as among the richest areas of bio diversity. Pulicat, by virtue of the mixing of fresh water with sea water is found to be an ideal habitat for diverse life-forms. 160 species of fish, 25 species of polychaete worms, 12 species of prawn, 19 species of mollusk and 100 speceis of birds are well documented apart from a number of other aquatic flora and fauna.
Among the most spectacular is the flamingo-a tall gaunt, white-coloured bird with a touch of pink on the wings, pink beak and legs, seen feeding in shallow water. The squat, large-billed grey pelican with gular pouch and a number of ducks are commonly seen. Flocks of sea gulls and terns circling in the sky or bobbing up and down on the water are an added attraction at pulicat. Besides, there are a number of waterside birds and waders such as curlews, stilts, plovers, sand pipers, lapwings, redshank. Egrets, herons, kites etc. are some other birds found here. The lake is also home to crabs, clams, mussels, oysters, snails, fish worms, insects, spiders, sponges, anemone, prawns, plankton and so on including rare endemic species like gilled leech, an unidentified bloodred fish, etc., Rapid siltation has caused loss of bio diversity. It is seen that mangrove opllen is found on Sriharikota Island indicating their existence some years back. Loss of mangroves may be one of the resons hastening siltation, reducing biodiversity and hence depriving fisherfolk of their livelihood.
