Not done in the mirror, but with a button flashlight in the computer area, writing backwards. Exposure of 30 seconds gave me just enough time to hold my head still at the end... heh.

Thank you flickr!

Thank you so very much.

Thank you for giving me the reason and know-how to create compelling pictures. High five. Sloppy gross tongue kiss. Slap on the ass. To the entire fucking website. That includes explore, yahoo, the fuckers who made the site, and even you. Yeah, you reading this shit. YOU are a superhero for sitting through my shit. I commend you.

Well, that said, not that this picture here is my magnum opus by any means. It’s just me lying on my fucking bed. But in the years I have spent on here, I have gone from taking pictures of flowers to producing what I think are some bang ass cool pics.

"pimp, shut up, what is your point you asshole"

Damn, okay. The reason I’m saying this is that over the weekend I was out wine tasting in a very touristy part of California. The Napa valley.

And do you know how many people I saw standing up proper, back straight, modestly smiling all so very perfect conventional for every picture they took with their digital cameras? EVERYONE!

Word to the wise: THIS IS B O R I N G!

Standing by “Welcome to Napa” signs with their stupid cameras just smiling like a bunch of jerkoffs.

Standing in front of a winery with the mom and kids holding a waiting smile with daddy douchebag flagging down another banal family to take their shot. Just so they could return the B O R I N G favor.

YAWNnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Think outside the box people. Go lay down in the street or something. Go steal some grapes from the vineyard and smash them on your spare t-shirt and get dirty. Act drunk or just fucking get drunk and run around the valley and roll down the hill and take a picture of that.

ANYTHING BUT STANDING IN FRONT OF THAT DAMN SIGN SMILING LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. PLEASE! FOR THE LOVE OF THE PIMP JUST STOP!

Sadly.

I think I used to be the smiling family idiot too. I think. Kind of.

I still do occasionally. But you know my motto. Mix it up. Try something new. Don’t stick to what’s comfortable. Or at least I try to uphold this brainchild idea of mine.

I mean look at what flickr did for me? I’ve come such a long way that I have this textured ugly picture of me laying in my bed. At least I’m not smiling in front of a winery.

Right?

As of 25 October 2020, at 6 pm EDT, the images that I've uploaded to Flickr since 2006 have been viewed seven million times.

***************

▶ I began posting photographs and images to Flickr in 2006. Originally, most of those were beer-centric. Since 2016 or so, my emphasis has shifted more toward nature photos and 'artsy,' if not always successfully so. Concurrently, the percentage of images of 'good fermentables' has dropped significantly.

Be that as it may, I thank all of you who have viewed my images and all who have 'favorited' and/or commented on them.

Yours for good fermentables (and photography),

****This frame was chosen on April 5th 2013 to appear on FLICKR EXPLORE.(Highest Ranking: # 224) . Explore is Flickr's way of showcasing the most interesting photos within a given point in time -- usually over a 24 hour period.

Flickr receives about 6,000 uploads every minute -- That's about 8.6 million photos a day! From this huge group of images, the Flickr Interestingness algorithm chooses only 500 images to showcase for each 24-hour period. That's only one image in every 17,000!..... so I am really thrilled to have a frame picked and most grateful.

IMPOSSIBILE QUALUNQUE INTERSCAMBIO, NESSUNA VISIBILITA' !!!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

See you early next year!

Flickr has become less easy to navigate. They are actively discouraging people from using the site.

MRTVI KANAL Rijeka CRO.

In 1739, the British Navy won a victory over Spain for control of the town of Portobelo, Panama. The victory was celebrated to such a degree it led to the naming of many things throughout the British Empire: a road in London, colonial estates in the United States, a peninsula in New Zealand, and a Scottish beach town that has since become engulfed by the urban sprawl of Edinburgh.

During the early years of the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century, the fast-growing town of Portobello became the site of many manufacturing industries, such as brickworks, saltworks, and glassmaking. Given its wide, sandy beach located conveniently close to both the country’s capital and its largest city, Glasgow, Portobello came to be known as a peculiar combination of an industrial and resort town.

The industrial boom in the early 20th century lead to the establishment of Buchan’s Pottery, which built two bottle kilns (so called because of their shape) onsite for its operations. The first was finished in 1906 and the second one three years later. They are the only bottle kilns that are standing in Scotland.

Near the end of the century, Scotland was on its way to becoming a post-industrial economy and many companies would close or relocate operations, Buchan’s among them. The pottery relocated to Crieff across the Firth of Forth in 1972, leaving behind these kilns as a relic of the industrial heritage of Portobello.

The kilns were renovated in 2006, and an accidental, partial collapse of the 1909 kiln required it to be fully rebuilt. Both original and new bricks were used for this renovation, and a brick marked “2013” shows the split between new and old material. As of August 2019, the 1906 kiln is being rebuilt out of the original bricks as well

While no technological masterpiece, this old egg beater is an obsolete dinosaur by today's standards - these days cakes are mostly made using electric mixers or food processors. But this old egg beater has served me well, having mixed cakes week in, week out when my family was growing up.

I could have taken a shot of the egg beater doing nothing, but thought I should whip up a 'throw it all in together and mix' type cake. The recipe called for the eggs to be beaten with some caster sugar till thick and creamy and then add the rest of the ingredients and combine. Now it's cooked, I suppose I'm going to have to eat it so my efforts aren't wasted.
