After joining Flickr in 2007, Meremail has decided it is time for a change, and is going full time on alternative site - Ipernity.
He said that for many years, Flickr met all the requirements for a photo social site and he met many wonderful friends there, but with the latest Flickr developments, he is now too frustrated to continue.

I want to thank all my contacts who have been the reason for me to take photos and post them because without an audience, there is nothing. I have had the pleasure of meeting many contacts in person around the world, well 3 countries at least.
The hardest part of departing is leaving contacts, as you might expect, but I understand those that are happy to stay.
For many years, Flickr was the perfect host, in my opinion, but unfortunately the mojo has withered since May 2013. There is no doubt that the changes have made it more difficult to do what we like best, and that is post, share and participate.
This has also had an impact in administering groups which is such a big thing for many Flickr members.
I admit that Ipernity is not perfect, but at least when you have a question or need help, you can lodge a ticket and get a personalised response. Flickr hasn't come to grips with that concept yet.
If this change ultimately doesn't work for me in the longer term, I still have the option to return to Flickr.

Oh, Flickr. While I appreciate the effort to protect my photos, I'm logged in, and you put cookies on my device. Can't you write a little code to establish that, as THE CREATOR, I don't need this pop up when I look at my own photos from my own device? Is that too much to ask from a ginormous on-line enterprise?

Once again, Flickr have selfishly changed things without thinking about what its members think. I have become used to the last change, and am not happy to protect until I know what I'm protesting about, but agree with my Flickr friends and this time I am happy to support them.
If you have not tried out the beta (or are one of the fortunate ones that did not have it forced upon you) then consider yourselves lucky. Here are just a few of the things one can find in the new Flickr that will be coming our way...
- A tiny area for your description relegated to the upper right corner of your screen. Telling the story behind your photo is no longer important and is hidden (must click a button to see the entire narrative) if the description is more than a sentence or two.
- Links in descriptions are now hidden.
- Descriptions in general are more difficult to format.
- The comment area is tiny as well. Only room for a "nice photo", unless you hit the "more" button. And only four comments are shown...unless you push a "more" button (they do love this "more" button!).
- No graphics can be added to your comments. For some that may mean no awards or group graphics, for others it means no outtakes or additional shots that you may want to have accompany your primary photo.
- Speaking of comments...they are now in reverse order. So, say, you are having a conversation in your comment area it will be more difficult to follow (goodbye community). Also, you cannot reply to more than one person at a time.
- Invitations to groups in comments? You got it, not visible either.
- One last thing on comments. You can't edit them.
- Favorites are now strictly anonymous.
- All lettering is white on a black background. This is very difficult, if not impossible, for some people to read.
- When you click on someone's photo you are basically trapped there, as the Flickr toolbar disappears. The only option you have is to go to their photostream (where the bar will reappear) or use your browser's back arrows. Because this makes navigating so much more cumbersome, I stopped commenting on photos when I was forced into the beta seveal weeks ago.
This is just a small sampling of the issues with the new photopage...let your voices be heard!

Sandhi Puja -
An integral and important part of Durga Puja, Sandhi Puja is performed at the juncture of the 8th and 9th lunar day. Sandhi puja lasts from the last 24 minutes of Ashtami till the first 24 minutes of Nabami. During this juncture (the "Sandhikhan"), Durga is worshipped in her Chamunda form. Devi Durga killed, Chando and Mundo, the two asuras at "Sandhikhan" and thus acquired the name of "Chamunda".
Myth behind Durga being worshipped as Chamunda -
While the Goddess and Mahishasura were engaged in a fierce battle, the two generals of Mahisha, Chando and Mundo attacked the Devi from the the rear. Durga appeared to them, a brilliantly glowing woman with her hair knotted on her head, a crescent moon above her forehead, a 'tilak' on her forehead and a garland around her neck. With golden earrings and clad in a yellow saari she emitted a golden glow. Her ten hands possessed ten different weapons. Though she appeared beautiful her face turned blue with anger when she faced Chondo and Mundo. From her third eye then emerged a Devi with a large falchion and a shield. She had a large face, bloody tongue and sunken blood shot eyes. She was Chamunda. With a bloodcurdling shriek she leapt forward and killed them. This moment was the juncture of the 8th and 9th lunar day.
Age old yardsticks for measuring the "Sandhikhan" -
Long back devotees in order to perform the Sandhi Puja at the exact juncture used a number of methods. With the last 24 mins. of the Ashtami puja still left, a bronze bowl with a tiny hole was placed in a bucket full of water. The bowl with the tiny hole was made in such a way that it took exactly 24 minutes for the bowl to submerge in the water. The moment the bowl submerged in the water cannon balls were
fired announcing this moment of Sandhi Puja. This yardstick for measuring the "Sandhikhan" was very popular ages ago in many "Rajbaris". Many "Rajbaris", including, the zamindar of Sutanuti of Sobhabajar Rajbari fired cannon balls to announce the "Sandhikhan". People around Sobhabajar waited for this indication to proceed with their puja. King of Krishnanagar, Raja Krishna Chandra, was given the
cannon of Plassey as a gift from Robert Clive. In Shikharbhum Rajbari a platter with vermillion (sindur) used to be kept in front of the Devi. It is said the foot prints of the Devi could be seen in the platter. This moment indicated the commencement of Sandhi Puja. Sabarno Raychoudhury of Barisha worshipped the Chamunda Devi by burning 'Layta' and 'Pholui' (types of fishes) fishes.
Things needed to perform Sandhi Puja -
Sandhi Puja requires 108 lotus flowers, a single fruit, dry rice grain for "noibiddo", 108 earthen lamps, clothes, jewelry, hibiscus garlands and wood apple (bel) leaves. The almost non existent rituals which underwent changes with the changes in the society can still be seen in some of the 200-250 year old Pujas.

Traci Matlock had explored this idea to great effect, and her photos had remained in my mind ever since.
I was jazzed to finally be able to give it a shot, and of course it proved much more difficult than Traci made it seem.
Which I should've known, that's the thing I hear a lot, "oh, you made it look so easy, but it's actually quite difficult!"
The shots that look effortless, natural, easy, those are the ones that are oftentimes the ones hardest to pull off.
First it was finding the right food, the one that would make the right kind of mess. Then it was getting the distance right, keeping the focus on Kristin and not the environment, but not so close the viewer couldn't really see the entirety of what was going on.
The angle kept defeating me, I wanted to show how her hands were contorting, but also wanted to make it clear she was eating, as opposed to merely posing with the food. I was continually scooting around the kitchen floor, changing my lenses back and forth, standing up, sitting down. Constant recalibration.
Only to occasionally find that my shutter was too slow, that the delicate movements Kristin was using to nosh down on the cantaloupe was blurred because of the limited light, so there were adjustments every few minutes there, too.
Frankly, it was exhausting. But that the end we'd had some good laughs, a helluva mess and some damn good shots.
Which is a fine result, indeed.

I may return to post stuff someday, but for now with the new policy that are totally "for the users" I am going to wipe clean my account
I don't really post much "adult" stuff, but I don't like to risk and mark many stuff as restricted
This new policy is not the way to go a "we going to take away from you so you pay" is not something I am comftruble being part of, a good product needs to offer more, not lock away what they all ready give

Beautiful Mosuque named Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan which is the Federal Territory Mosque situated at Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur on an area of 13.4 hectares (33acres). It was built on 4 September 2000.
The built-up area is approximately 47,000 square metres with four levels. The mosque can accomodate 17,000 'jemaah' at any one time.
3/20 is the International Day of Happiness established by UN. We, together with all other organizations, invite you to do anything to improve the well-being and happiness of human beings, including take your best photo for the theme #Happiness, to celebrate it.

Perhaps the most interesting Father's Day present I ever received. This was an "autobiography kit for dummies" from a company called Story's Worth. For 52 weeks (or longer if needed), you submit a weekly essay to them, including photos if you want. You can either answer their thought-provoking questions, make up your own, or just start talking about your life however you want to do it. At the end, the company compiles it for you and sends you a hard-bound copy. There is no way I would have done this starting with a blank page!!! Just like eating an elephant, you approach it one bite at a time!!! A fine exercise for a guy in his 70's. My own self-portrait!!!!
