This was a one off run to test the line after the extensive reballasting programme, the siding at Trawsfynydd could only take two flasks so this rake was borrowed from the Wylfa run.

37069 and 37059 make a fine racket heading through Wylam with the Friday morning 6E44 Kingmoor to Seaton empty flask service.

The locomotives will pass through later in the afternoon with loaded flasks to be taken to Sellafield for reprocessing.

With the planned move for the 57s caped due to light engines we razzed back to Eskmeals in good time to see 612 and 716 on 6K73. I would have preferred 716 on the front but I won't be saying that in a few months if all the /6s disappear from DRS traffic.

66301 and 66304 6Z32 0539 Crewe Coal Sidings (Drs) to Devonport Royal Dockyard are about to top Hemerdon bank, these trains are as rare as hens teeth yet this is my second shot of one in the last two months (pole)

Recorded at Moore near Warrington in May 1984, BR Class 25/1 25037 had charge of the 7P40 Valley to Sellafield BNFL flasks. The payload included flasks from both Wylfa Power Station [loaded at Valley] and Trawsfynydd P.S., the latter being collected via a Conwy Valley Trip working and added during a traffic stop at Llandudno Junction.

On 1st August 1995 a pair of Class 31s, with Regional Railways liveried No. 31410 topping Coal Sector No. 31130, propel empty nuclear flasks along the Trawsfynydd branch, and trundle through the closed station at Maentwrog Road. The branch operated as a long siding from Blaenau Ffestiniog, where the locomotives were required to run round their train to propel the inward workings to the nuclear power station loading point. The Magnox power station, seen in the background, closed in 1991 and regular workings conveying nuclear flasks were due to cease in August 1995, this being probably the penultimate scheduled working. Irregular workings did continue, the last reported being on 22nd April 1997. The line originally ran between Blaenau Ffestiniog on Bala, which was closed to passengers in January 1960, and freight the following year, but t the section between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Trawsfynydd was restored in 1964 to serve the power station. This also involved creating a new section of railway through Blaenau to connect with the Conwy Valley Line. Since, there have been a number of reported schemes to reopen the line to Trawsfynydd. After a while since the previous run, 68017 Hornet and 68016 Fearless lead 6M63 Bridgwater FD to Crewe Coal Sidings. through Bromford Bridge.

P.S.: Die Kamera-Uhr stand auf Mitteleuropäischer Sommerzeit. Korrekte Ortszeit war 19:46 Uhr... ;)

I decided to go a little wrong side for the light here to show the former goods yard and some of the buildings around Stocksfield station. Although many of the buildings have gone the station retains an attractive NER footbridge and a pair of stone platform shelters.
