If you've ever been to the Outer Banks in North Carolina and walked out to the beach at night you have seen these crabs before. They are small and move quickly. Luckily I was able to get this one to pose for me.

Just a simple Close Up snap taken in my studio of a Fender Stratocaster Tuning Pegs. Shot taken using three studio flash heads each with a largish soft box fitted and against a black paper background.

With school finally over for the summer and motors perfectly juxtaposed on the ‘jailhouse’ siding and mainline in Lonsdale, last night provided a wonderful opportunity to dust off the speedlites and get back out into the dark again. With that being said—here are KXHR 2391, 903, and 2387 on the jailhouse with former CNW SW1 slug 1269 and 2002 peacefully holding the mainline.
Basic simple one strobe set up directly in front of my subject above head level facing downwards with a reflector opposite the strobe at the bottom bouncing light back to fill in the shadows.

Cohesive tape is a type of compression bandage that has a self-adherent property that arises from both the coating and an elastic gauze. When stretched and then relaxed, it creates a wrinkled surface that grips to iteself but not other surfaces.
A vintage travel alarm. Before we had alarms in our digital watches and mobile phones, it was pretty common to pack a travel alarm clock. Nto too sure I'd want something ticking in my luggage any more.

I couldn't sleep at night and played around a bit with the flash unit we bought for the company to take better real estate photos. Please give me your input on what I could do better, these were my very first encounters with flash units...

Finally, after almost 4 years of missing the Savannah and Atlanta heritage unit, I shot it with a decent camera a couple nights ago. Here it leads eastbound stack NS 23G through Shawsville right at 9p. These flashes come in handy sometimes, but it definitely makes me want more than four of them.
Some toys are ageless and can help foster the creativity and imagination of every child, regardless of their age.

Smoke photography. I’m doing this while I’m at work. I smoked up my little office trailer and I opened the door and it looked like something out of a Cheech and Chong movie all this smoke come rolling out. And I’m signing in some big shots. I don’t think they picked up on what was going on, but it wouldn’t have taken much if they had been paying attention anyway, I hope you enjoy this.

Water Drops with Dry Ice in the Kitchen sink. If one could have seen the set up it was laughable. Lots of tape and stuff propped up with cans and boxes, very unprofessional. I guess when the end result only involves a few inches for the field of view, it really doesn't mater what the surroundings are.

Shot for Flicker Friday (Rule/Ruler)
Subject - 100 ft. surveyors tape incremented in decimal feet.
A number of states in the US have 100 ft. rules that apply in areas ranging from electioneering to connection to utilities, posting signs and boating. This is what it looks like when a 100 ft. rule is bent.
