Testing the repaired Vivitar 365 flash. Had to clean contacts in the trigger circuit in two places: the leaf spring behind the PC-cable socket, and the coil spring just above the hot shoe pin. I'm not sure what kind of metal it was, but both copper-coloured parts were so oxidised that they no longer made contact.
Then, I checked the trigger voltage with the Fluke 8800A (not the one in the photo, I have two of them) and found 48V. That's safe with the Canon 5D Mk III which is rated at 250V maximum.
Finally set white balance on the camera for xenon flash and exposed in manual according to the dial on the 365's Vari-Sensor module. Flash bounced off the ceiling because otherwise it reflected off the shiny dial of the HP 209A.

O flash verde é um fenômeno derivado da refração que a atmosfera da Terra provoca na luz solar, diferentemente para cada cor do espectro solar. Neste caso, pode ser visto quase no limbo superior do Sol. Quando o Sol está mais fraco, por exemplo devido à poluição (não era esse o caso), pode ser visto a olho nu em alguns casos.
Infelizmente a foto está um pouco fora de foco.

GREEN FLASH: The green flash is a phenomenon caused by the Earth´s atmospheric refraction, which is different for each color of the solar spectrum. In this case, it can be seen near the upper limb of the Sun. When the Sun is weak, for example due to pollution (that was not the case here), it can be seen with naked eye in some cases. Unfortunately the photo is a bit out of focus.

I honestly don't like using flash, it messes up the lighting and makes skin flaws more noticeable (for me, that is). This was before I knew how to turn off the flash on my camera. I'm in my room, practicing taking pictures of myself since I usually don't have anyone who'll take the pictures for me...
Experimenting with low key self portraits. Crafted a budget flash modifier from an empty Pringles can to tightly direct the light and keep the background black.
Reversing his red Ford Thunderbird .. taking it steady with all these people about and it gives me a chance to capture him doing so .. forget about running anybody over , he just doesn't want any scratches on the that paintwork .

Decided I'd enter into the guernsey comp after a long while of not doing it.
Shot on my chair with a couple of pieces of paper as a backdrop and reflector.
Metz CL-1 fired from left. I love this flash and I haven't even had it attached to my camera yet!

With the X100s, I can drag a bare flash so far from the subject that the illumination is even on the fence and the subjects. It gives a very natural feel with a super simple setup, I love it!

Taken on a grey overcast morning from my deck with the light coming from behind and to the left. I popped the SB910 flash (set to narrow beam and fill flash) on my D500, set the Exposure Compensation to +2, and hoped for the best with a series of hand held shots at 1/250 second (upper limit for the SB910).
