On our way back to Toronto from Fort Lauderdale we had a chance to watch an Impressive show put by Mother Nature. Somewhere near Pittsburgh.

La zigenas son pollilas de hábitos diurnos. La de la imagen me ha tenido en duda bastante tiempo. La pequeña mancha roja del extremo del ala me hacía pensar en una "Zygaena filipendula" pero me inclino más por una "Zygaena trifolii" Las dos especies son muy similares y sólo se diferencian en el número de manchas de las alas.
The zigaenas are diurnal habits moths. With this image I have a doubt . The small red spot in the edge of the wing made me think in a "Zygaena filipendula" but I am inclined more for a "Zygaena trifolii" The two species are very similar and only differ in the number of spots of the wings.

James flash lamp, c.1880's. The only reference I have been able to locate is in the book "Colorado on Glass" in which it is pictured as a page decoration.
Uprated to a 580EX II and it works with my now elderly Transistor pack E as well as being the master controller to the 430EX in slave mode.
It took ages to find a TP battery magazine as this used to be a nicad pack (long since dead) but thanks to the guys at FFordes for comming up trumps, and 7dayshop for selling C to AA convertors at 50p each: total boost as i can use AA NiMh instead of zinc chloride C types.
Only down side is it takes 14 AA's to run this lot

Our amazing flashing candy floss - candy floss on flashing LED sticks. Eat the candy floss and play light sabres afterwards!
Back in August I took a trip down to Charley's Garden, Seaton Sluice to grab a few shots at sunset. The sunset didn't amount to much but there were a few stray clouds with flashes of pink. I posted a similar shot to this a while ago but thought I'd go for movement this time instead.

Both flash units have a cable attached for connection with the flash contact for a flash bar on the camera .The pocket lux 234 (type 6904/100) has a screw for mounting on the camera , the pocket lux 400t (type 6905/100) has a foot for an accessory shoe .
Adding a little infra red to an indoor snap at the Photo workshop, by adding a filter in front of the pop up flash on my full spectrum GF2.

Sprotbrough Flash lies in the gorge of the River Don and is a favourite for Yorkshire naturalists.
Our Rating:
This 28 hectare reserve is managed by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and is located only 1 mile from the A1 (junction 36) just south of Sprotbrough village itself.
The focal point is the lake, however this reserve also includes grassland and woodland that provide habitats for many wildlife species.
Getting there is pretty straight forward by bus, car or even boat should you wish to arrive at Sprotbrough Lock. There are limited car parking spaces on Nursery Lane, however the The Boat Inn kindly caters for those visitors to the Flash who intend to enjoy some food or drink after their walk.
The footpaths are a mixture of public and permissive trails and 0.5 miles of footway are considered wheelchair friendly. Dogs are required to be kept on a lead.
