Just received my first exhibit showing some of my bald eagle photography at the Murchison Performing Arts Center at UNT, sponsored by the Greater Denton Arts Council. It's an honor to be selected. The show will continue through May 2022. There is also an online exhibit at dentonarts.com/lockwood for those of you who are not local to the DFW area. The photographs are 20x30 inches on metal. A portion of all proceeds go to the Greater Denton Arts Council, and I am donating 100% of the show's profits to a scholarship endowment fund to support photography students at UNT.

Beginning of a new day.

NP 7012A leans into an S curve near Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad's Mineral shops on a gloomy December afternoon.

A rare un-rebuilt SD70MAC leads southbound doublestack train Q203 into the hole at North Cairo amidst freshly fallen powder. Still is extremely weird to call these once ubiquitous wide-nosed EMDs "rare", but considering this is the first one I have photographed in three years with most on the CSX roster either stored or rebuilt, it is what it is...

I was excited to see the first butterfly visit my backyard, a black swallowtail. They are tricky to photograph, as their wings never stop fluttering. He or she was tending to the Blue Boa agastache plant on my deck. The windy conditions made it tricky to get a decent photo.

This Itoh peony gets its name ‘First Arrival’ as it is one of the first hybrid peonies to bloom in the year. This is a semi-double flower variety of peony that has crinkly lavender-pink flowers.

The exquisite blossoms gradually become redder closer to the center of the flower. The center of the Itoh peony flower looks like a magenta and yellow-colored spiky ball. These large flowers can be as many as 40 on each plant with each one measuring around 8” (20 cm) across.

Back from the photo workshop at Iceland. What a fantastic place for photography - different weather and landscape every 10 minutes during the trip. Trying to sort my impressions to share with you. Next couple of days will be colour, and the next period will be b&w, mostly from the numerous different waterfalls that we visited. And finally some shots on film, waiting for the lab to do their job. Many thanks to Jay, John, Jarad, Mike and Malcolm for making this a memorable trip.

The moment of the first snow. There is always something magical about the first snow and how it lights up the landscape. The snow has all now melted, but I also love the darkness and the mood of this season.

Thanks to Flickr for featuring my work on this platform!

Orlando Wetlands Park (pre pandemic closure)

My first 5 sighthounds (except Lady my first greyhound). Rhia, Fern, Kali, Charliy and number one special dog, Shasta. I'm amazed I managed to get them all together with a film camera, it's hard enough with 3!!! Fern is looking away, but that fits in with her character, she was always looking to run off :-)

Seafront study

It's 20 degrees on the first day of spring in VT. (lots of snow and more on the way). However, we remain hopeful. A little humor.

This is what we came home to.

Ben loves the cooler weather and the first snow.

26.5 miles on the Sparta-Elroy Trail in WI. Out and back from the Tunnel Trail Campground in Wilton.

I met up with one of my cousins and his wife. They have E-bikes that are pedal assist.

Those are pretty neat bikes. I had just my regular bike.

My cousin brought his Spring Spaniel who rode in an open cart!

Oklahoma had a cold night last night, the first hard frost, a bit of frost on the little oak tree.

First time visitor.

Not the best photograph of a Blue-headed Vireo, but this is the first time I have seen one in my yard in Chester County, PA

We have been waiting for the elk to appear, driven downslope from the Olympic Mountains by Winter to find forage. We live inside protected elk habitat - no hunting here. And our slope happens to be one of their usual winter hangouts.

Saturday morning dawned bright and frigid. Early morning sunlight lured four apex bulls out of the cedars to warily browse. Our alert neighbor texted to alert us to their presence, but we were already face to glass, not daring to breathe.

The bulls stayed long enough to let us all get out cameras and snap a few frames. Then the double report of a duck hunter's shotgun burst through the still air. This biggest stag led the charge back to the shelter of the trees. The cows and calves have not yet appeared, but they will come soon, surely, as they have for many years.

First Red Admiral of this year! Lovely to see the butterflies out yesterday. ;0)

I've had an ambition to capture a half decent "frosted Teasel" shot for some time. Here's two in one morning...
