There will be many Blue Jay's on my photostream in the coming months because of the fact that they stick around through the winter months. Here is the first one of the fall, with the trees just starting to show some color change.

First bird shot of the year for me!

i have tons of unprocessed photos i would like to upload, but i suddenly headed to Marymoor this morning as there were bits of fog on the south of Lake Sammamish. it was a good decision. hundreds of geese were crossing the lake, the water evaporation was amazing too.

this one was shot with the 70-200L

i did miss quite a few shots before getting this one, i admit.

Went for a drive to check out the first snow of the year. Love those cold weather sunsets.

A fledgling hummingbird days before leaving its next for the first time, rests quietly in its small woven nest hidden among green leaves and branches. The short beak and soft feathering reveal its early stage of life.

MC 2011 (ex-NH FL9M) approaches the end of track in New Bedford, MA nearby the freight yard where sludge is shipped out. Even though this is a former New Haven Railroad line, it is uncertain if FL9s ever made it into New Bedford.

Australian Emerald Dragonfly (Hemicordulia australiae) female

I often see the Tau Emerald Dragonflies around the garden but this is the first time I have had an Australian Emerald visit. Another that is usually found around waterways.

Same drop.....same angle...just little different light perspective.

Just squeaked in the back door of Explore......#498....August 1, 2008.

This is the first time I was able to capture one of these. One of the things I learned from watching them is that the beak is shaped that way to help them drink. It is sort of a reverse laddel thing.
