Sandhill Crane

My first sighting of a Great Gray Owl ever. It was 3 years ago and I can remember it like it was yesterday. It was a cold and foggy day in Yellowstone National Park and to find this majestic owl was magical.

I took this photo while visiting Monique in Alberta...it only snowed for a very short time and didn't stay...but so pretty.

the Hydrangeas are starting to bloom and this butterfly looks like he's already checking out the best buds 😉 😉 He sat like that for several minutes and I left after this shot as I didn't want to disturb the meditation 😄☀️

It's been over a year since frost first appeared.

This is one of the pictures I took on the first day I used my new camera. At dawn, I went to a lake to see sunrise. Steam was coming off of the surface of the lake. Frost formed across the field surrounding the lake. Then I went to a nature park for hiking. The frost didn't melt for a while. In this picture, you see yellow foliage, a metal fence, and a frosty lawn in the background. My fingers and feet were numb with cold. I couldn't help going ahead because the frosty sight was beautiful under sunshine.

P.S., This picture was taken on the second weekend of October instead of November. I had my camera mistakenly set the date for a month during the first few weeks of use.

A muggy morning in the summer of 2013 finds 23 cars worth of Q339 being pulled out of the east siding at South Deshler with CSXT 8098 providing all the necessary muscle. I offer this as a submission for "Forty Friday" for more than just the obvious reason. The 8098 was built in 1980, making 2020 its 40th birthday. However, I can't find any photos of it more recent than 2016, so I have to assume its rotting in a deadline somewhere, or worse...

Yesterday we got our first dusting of snow with more to come today and tomorrow. NOT READY.....

We had our first snow overnight into the early daylight hours today. It didn’t amount to much, maybe 1-2” and that’s typical for early December. This scene was photographed looking across the old channel at the Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt on NE 126th Avenue in Polk County, Iowa. It was about 8:30am, the snow had just stopped and the sky was staring to clear in the west to create a nice colorful backdrop.
