The first owners or builder of this house planted croscomia just outside our front door. And each summer they return.
After donning a face mask for wandering pollen, I waited for a hummingbird to finish exploring the only flower, and then stepped outside into the shade. Love these vivid and unique buds, native to the grasslands of southern and eastern Africa.
It was like magic! This Merlin appeared out of nowhere! The first bird in the early morning light at Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Galloway, NJ.
It's November 22 and the snow has fallen since early this morning. The first snow is always so spectacular, so fresh and clean. Taken in Mississauga, Ontario, just west of Toronto. 1st place winner, Baby It's Cold Outside contest, Daarklands group. Dec. 2021.
First time using photo merger from 10 vertical shots. Accepting recommendations to make the process easier. It took me forever working from raw files, which generated a huge file.
I visited photogenic Lai da Palpuogna a second time after it had snowed. Meanwhile I‘ve returned home (Heidi is very happy 😸) and there are loads of photos to sort through now...

First light. Creative edit of a Eucalyptus tree bark section. Through my eyes and lens it is a landscape scene in early morning light.
Jeweled with raindrops, this lovely tulip is the first to bloom this year in my San Francisco garden.
Happy Macro Monday! Thanks for stopping by and for all of your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

Early morning when I went for a walk ( exercise ) around the Hamilton Lake I spotted this guy trying to catch a fish....!
May 30, 2019 was a good day at our house, I came home from work and discovered this new born by our driveway. A few hours later and twins were born in the backyard.
It's been over a year since frost first appeared.
This is one of the pictures I took on the first day I used my new camera. At dawn, I went to a lake to see sunrise. Steam was coming off of the surface of the lake. Frost formed across the field surrounding the lake. Then I went to a nature park for hiking. The frost didn't melt for a while. In this picture, you see yellow foliage, a metal fence, and a frosty lawn in the background. My fingers and feet were numb with cold. I couldn't help going ahead because the frosty sight was beautiful under sunshine.
P.S., This picture was taken on the second weekend of October instead of November. I had my camera mistakenly set the date for a month during the first few weeks of use.
I hope this Daffodil is tooting the first notes of Spring. Thanks for the Look and have a great evening.

It was a beautiful clear sunrise at the Snake River Overlook in Grand Teton National Park. But you pay the price for the high pressure system over the area...the temperature was -9 degrees F (-23 C)!

'Last Sun' and 'First Light' is a series of photos taken on Dec. 31, 2022 and Jan. 1st, 2023.
On both days, I used a fixed camera setting to take the photos, resulting sometimes in over- or underexposure.
It is interesting how the fixed settings (aperture, exposure time and iso) reflect the mood, lightness or dimness of the respective days.
'Last Sun' was taken with a 35mm lens, iso 100, f.8 and 1/60.
'First Light' was taken with a 70-200mm lens, iso 160 (400 for the darkest shades), f.4 and 1/200.
No cropping (3x2) except occasional 4x3.
