Another nail in the coffin of the square sun society! I have no idea where the Flickr map feature has disappeared to, it's been a while since I've had my camera out, but for those who are interested in this location it's the less posh side of the Chiang Dao mountain near the Laowu Wiang Haeng Gate. If you don't mind the cold conditions in a flimsy bamboo hut without any windows, precariously perched on the edge of a narrow ridgeway, the night sky and early morning mist are quite amazing. But then the hospitality shown by the local hill tribe villagers is in my opinion far better than any posh nosh resort on the other side of the mountain range for only a quarter of the price.
(my bad, found the map just below!)
I had my 'first warbler' visit taking a bath in my backyard fountain. I had seen it a few days before, briefly, and without a camera. This day he spent quite some time enjoying the water. Heading out to Half Moon Bay this morning for a couple of days will catch up when I return.
I believe this is a Orange-crowned Warbler.
Thank you for your visit and comments...have a wonderful day.
Shot on the Snaefellsness Pennsular in Iceland. The snow has dusted the mountain top and is threatening to move lower. Winter is coming!
Our family stopped at a small rest stop at a tiny "town" called Last Chance in eastern Colorado, and while the family were, um, resting in the little portapotties, I spotted this orchard oriole nearby, my first shot of one of these orioles!
Rudy is now 13 weeks old and had his first real photo session today. He wasn't too thrilled!! This little puppy is always moving and he doesn't like to take orders!! He finally resigned himself to behaving for a few minutes...but you can see he wasn't too happy. This is such a typical stubborn doxie look! "You will pay for this later!"
We love him dearly and he has become the boss of the house.
This is another from the archives. Have the day off tomorrow and weather permitting should be able to head out.
This one is from our visit to Greece. Sunrise looking over towards mount Athos. Amazing light and very little done to this photo other than curves adjustments, sharpening and cropping..
I was going to load this up as a black and white, but the colour just seemed more incredible..
As always appreciate your comments and visit. Enjoy your day...
I used to shoot a lot of weddings but with so many bridezillas becoming empowered by magazines and TV shows, plus my messed up thoracic back, I really only go to weddings as a guest.
The first flight that I have seen of this year's Osprey hatchlings. It flew from one end of the nest to the other. It did not seem too surprised I suspect it was not it's first.

And it was crazy! The northern suburbs of Chicago got the brunt of the storm. In fact, the town we live in recorded the most snow - 18 inches. Because the ground was so warm, it doesn't look like there was 18 inches, though.
The earliest snow melted and froze...causing branches to bend under the weight, or break from the weight. I skied through an obstacle course the day after the storm.
Two days after the snow storm and the ice and snow on the trees hadn't yet melted. It felt like I was walking into a whole other realm.
