1989 First time I was tied en femme-first time I allowed someone else to see me as my "alter ego", too. Wish she had not messed w/ the lens as the rest were fuzzy...some were better than this one. Not too bad for an early pic.

I still carry some of my photographical demotivation with me, but its getting better I think.
The scene in which I took todays image however, released every little bit of fascination, and reactivated me in a way, that I would not have ever expected.
While being at my noon break at work, I cycled to a nearby park, in order to rest and read a bit.
It took a bit to find the perfect spot, right beneath a big tree, but when I sat down and started to read, I realized an unusual sight right in front of me.
Just in front of me, in the middle of a big lawn, hundreds of small insects started flying towards the sky. I could not really see what it was, so I got closer.
Then I saw it:
Thousands of flying ants exited their nest, climbed the small plants around their headquarter and launched. It was amazing. Just a few weeks ago I watched a documentary about this, but to see it with my own eyes was more than fascinating.
The small supermen flew for the first time in their life, and struggled heavily to get their wings under control. I tried to capture the starting masses, but that was not possible.
So I focussed on single ants instead, and combined with the light leaking through the trees, the scene created a wonderful composition.
It was magic, actually, and I instantly fell in love with my hobby again.

For the first time in about 3 months, the Torness Flasks have run via Beattock and Millerhill. This was partly due to the sink hole appearing at Niddrie West Junction earlier in the year.
On a lovely sunny morning at Inveresk on the 31st August 2018 we see a pair of Class 88's working the Flask train. 88009 leads 88006 on 6S43, 0622 Kingmoor - Torness, with both working in electric mode. When it leaves Torness in the afternoon it will continue down the ECML to Newcastle and across the Tyne Valley line.
Seen here at 0920 and will be put in the loop at Drem for the 0930 to London Kings Cross, 1E09, to pass

Some departments follow a strict restraining policy. Full restraints are mandadory for all persons being waiting in the booking area regardless of the charges to prevent fights and other disturbance. Those coming into this situation for the first time may find this excessive, especially if they are only arrested for a minor offense. The latest additions to Greater Manchester Police’s vehicle fleet are just coming into service. New BMW 125d cars will be seen on our roads frequently in the coming weeks. They will form part of the Road Policing Unit’s ANPR Interceptor fleet.
This vehicle, which had left the Force’s workshops for the first time in (almost) full operational specification only moments earlier – was recently filmed for an up coming GMP video.
We also took the opportunity to take some still images at the same time. We are happy to admit that a little photo editing has been used to enhance the sense of movement!
The new vehicles advertise the fact that they are fitted with the latest version of the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system.
In use over the last few years, ANPR has been responsible for taking thousands of unlicensed and uninsured vehicles off the region’s roads.

Although prevalent along the Birmingham to Derby line 170's are infrequent visitors to the Cross City line during daylight hours so when 170102 was noted during our visit to record a test train the opportunity was taken to record it passing through Chester Road station. 5Z70 Tyseley LMD to Leicester L.I.P. was diverted from its usual route via Landor Street due to HS2 remodeling works.

First time visiting this beautiful national park and we only just put a minor dent in seeing this park. Love the vistas at Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.

My niece and her friend came up to the north shore and it was her friends first time seeing the Milky Way. She was more than happy to pose for shots. I like how this one turned out.

I got back from Florida on Saturday. I spent a week in Florida with Bailey, Chloe, and Bandit. Yes, Bandit, the 10 year old Min Pin I've been fostering. Long story short of why I brought him: I took him back to the shelter to stay while I was on vacation, the shelter was too full and he panicked being back there. So, he came with us on a long road trip! He did fantastic on the long car ride, did amazing at the dog beach where he met lots of other dogs and had a blast playing. He even had fun on the boat trip that we took, he was a natural!
Bailey surprised me, in a very good way. She never would get into our swimming pool, probably because she never wanted to dive off the deck. But when we got to the beach, she dove right into the water after me and Chloe and had a blast! This picture shows her first time ever swimming, look at that happy prance! :)
