mary & sara - dinner out at el porton ("cheap mexican" close to our house) - we used to do this a couple times a month, but this was our first visit in a very long time - the menu was new (but they still had my favorite nachos and of course margaritas) and sara tried chilaqueles (sp?) for the first time and really loved them
Shortly after midnight and aroused by the considerable noise, I joined my boyfriend on the balcony of our hotel room in Las Vegas. The world has probably never been more perilous but for a few minutes there was this.
I have not photographed fireworks (seriously) before and, of my 54 shots on three different settings, this is the only one I would regard as even slightly acceptable.
Thus began 2025.

First time I'm flying out of the international terminal here at San Jose Mineta airport. First time heading to our company offices in Guadalajara.
But as always, looking forward to a travel experience. 😁

Young Douglas was out busking for the first time ever yesterday... He told me that he's been doing this for awhile at home... After a recent discussion with busker friend Jimbo it was really good to see Douglas showing an interest, and I hope he keeps it up...
Hmmmm.....I will call this "Building with Window Reflection."
Whatever.
I know the buildings are off-kilter. This is the first time this hasn't bugged the you-know-what out of me.
First time I have taken the time to notate all my miles because I LOVE this year's patch with the two hiking boots so much. Did it all in the snow on the Grand Traverse Hiking Club trails between January 1 and March 8 -- some skiing and some hiking including trail lumberjacking (those miles should have counted double). Goal accomplished and I'll be sporting that patch on my pack.
The first time I tried to come through this here (it's the shortest route from Sheffield to Manchester), I got snowed in. Thankfully, the trip worked out better this time. Photo by urbanlegend
We are trying our speeches on stage for the first time. Checking the microphones and choosing the light.

New species for me!
Last year around this time when I found Sabatia angularis for the first time I mistook it for this species. I was very happy to notice a big patch of these growing in a low wet area on the side of the road in front of a little old house with a "NO TRESPASSING" sign. I pulled over and took a few photos as quickly as I could, which is why they are not the best photos. Fortunately the guy who lived there was really nice, and he wasn't angry that I had parked in his driveway.
Until a few days ago, this sight had NEVER been seen. Those white pillars went through a building that had stood on this site long before the Sellwood Bridge was built.
It was removed to make way for the new Sellwood Bridge.
This market is normally packed full of shoppers, but during Tet, it is empty. This is the first time we've seen this!
First time eating Santol. I really liked it. It was sweet and sour and slightly reminded be or Citrus and Guava. The texture near the big seed was soft while the texture near the rind was grainy like a Pear. We also got more Atis (Custard Apple) and Balingbing (Star Fruit). #fruits #hawaii #custardapple #atis #starfruit #santol #balingbing September 04, 2016 at 08:10AM
