His first time on the swings at the park. He was wearing his big boy bluejeans and played the part very well.

Cadets from 121 ( Nuneaton) Squadron Air Training Corps took to the skies for the very first time when they visited RAF Cosford.

For 7 of the 11 cadets who went to RAF Cosford on 3rd December, it was their first Air Experience Flight (AEF) in the single engine Grob Tutor, Each cadet got a flight which lasted about 25 mins, not long by holiday flight standards but an AEF flight is completely different.

Cadet Breanne Richter (14) summed up her first flight with a single word, “Awesome!”

My first time quilting on the diagonal and I was finally brave enough to after purchasing the scoring tool to mark the lines which Rita from Red Pepper Quilts recommended. I LOVE that tool and now use it daily. How did I ever survive without it?

Our shadows hitting the sands of Dee Why beach. What a pleasure...

Now I got into heat embossing. Swap-bot is a terrible influence, I swear!

So I used the rubber stamp I made and used silver glitter embossing powder and made this. I already used it but yea, I like it.

Can gratefully tick that off my bucket list

A few months after seeing captive orcas I would go to Vancouver, Canada and see wild killer whales for the first time. My Grandfather had moved to Vancouver a few years prior to our visit and this would lead to many more trips to Vancouver to see wild orcas in different areas. The first time I saw wild cetaceans was in 2001 when we saw Resident orca in Johnstone Strait, for many hours we watched the pods breaching and swimming near the boat. That was not the last time I saw wild cetaceans as many years later in 2008 we went to Telegraph Cove, Canada and saw Transient orca and in 2011 we went to Clearwater in the US and saw wild bottlenose dolphins.

(NOTE: This is not a picture from the first time I saw wild orca, it is in fact Valentin from Marineland France, I chose to do this as I was too young to take photos at the time when I first saw wild orca.)

I've been doing all the design of the promotional and environmental display material for my oldest dzgn client, The Barbados Tourism Authority. This year, I put my photographer's hat on for them for the first time and shot their events at Harbourfront Centre and Woodbine.

North East England Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Dinner was hosted in the nave of the Cathedral, the first time a major event of this type has been held there.

First time experiment with Mehdi's most excellent PS filters. Easy to lose track of the time with this one.

Impressions from a park...

The first time I went to People's Park here in Chengdu, I wasn't terribly impressed (though I didn't hate it by any means). Yesterday (29 February 2016) morning's shoot, though, was much, much more enjoyable.

Perhaps I was just in a better mood. Part of it had to do with the weather, I think. It was 22 degrees (72* F) and sunny. The flowers are beginning to bloom...and it was still February. (People should never need to ask why I love living in this city...)

So here are my feelings from yesterday...

I loved the day here. Most city parks are filled to the brim with old folks. (I guess beauty and enjoying life is wasted on the youth.) There were a few younger people here, but not many.

I heard, "Oh, laowai!" plenty of times yesterday. Being a foreigner is enough to stick out. Being a foreigner with camera gear and a tripod REALLY makes you stick out. I was certainly an oddity, but not in a bad way. Everyone was very happy about my being there (well, 99% of the people were friendly) and they were very accommodating. A few were happy to be in pictures, others were happy to talk. Previous park experience has taught me that they would have LOVED had I joined in any of the activities...tai chi (maybe), dancing (definitely).

Like last time, I still find it peculiar how atonal Chinese are when it comes to singing, as it's a completely tonal language. Individually, most can't carry a tune to save their lives. (Nor can I, really, so this isn't criticism...just a candid observation.) However, when you get a small crowd singing together, with instruments, too, it's really quite wonderful (even if off key).

One thing I noticed this time that I hadn't before: decibel meters. There are many places in the park to congregate for singing or what have you, and everywhere I found a group, there was a decibel meter (usually reading around 70 dB, give or take a few). I'm assuming there's a noise limit, though I don't know enough to say that for certain. Anyway, I think it's awesome that they're aware of noise pollution.

I firmly believe that older people in parks are truly the only Chinese with an actual passion for life. Everyone else is "too busy" to stop and smell the roses. I think that's unfortunate beyond words.

I saw parts of the park yesterday that I hadn't gone to before (sculptures, etc.) and revisited areas from last time (the lake, the railroad monument). I completely missed the bonsai garden yesterday, but that's alright; I saw plenty of beauty all around...

First time out with new Nikon V1

Cuộn film đầu tiên của mình...

Seeing my MINI, at last! I named her Miss Thing.

One of the highlights of my trip to Japan was realising my dream of photographing the Snow Monkeys of Jigokundani (near Nagano) & the whole experience left me thinking about how important it is we be thankful for evolution & that we should celebrate it with more attention then we give our imaginary gods.

Taken with Sony A7RII & the legendary vintage Tamron Adaptall 180mm f/2.5 lens;. It was my first time travelling with the Sony & i'm loving how effective it is with older manual focus/aperture lenses.

Please feel free to this post or individual images & even if you feel so inspired. I think it's important everyone take some time out to see ourselves in another creatures eyes & I'd personally love it if more people got to view my work.

For the first time ever on this blog, I am featuring a Sprouts Farmers Market. This specific store opened a day prior to my visit on 2/16/24. Since this is a new store opening nearby, I decided that I should check it out.

While Albertsons and Kroger have been opening very little stores in the region in the past decade, and Stater mostly opening new stores in the Inland Empire, new Sprouts markets have started taking the area by storm, as the Arizona based chain has expanded in the region heavily in the past few years.

This store was crowded as any newly opened store is, which is expected. I'm sure if the store wasn't, that would not be a good sign for the store.

The Ring. Need I say more?

We spent the whole day there shooting and hanging out. At one point we snuck into this spot right beside the track and were shooting right on the side. It was such a crazy experience. I spent most of my time hunting down not one but TWO Gumpert Apollos, which sound like fighter jets when they're tearing up the ring. Sadly though, one of them wrecked :'( As we were leaving we saw it coming out on the back of a flatbed with the rear all mangled. I was also on the hunt for some pans of the SLS which is indefinitely the best looking Merc in recent memory. I saw the new Ferrari 458 Italia for the first time too. So many dope cars, I cant wait to go back!
