Forty residents were evacuated after a fire tore through a Sherbrook Street apartment block on January 14, 2012, completely destroying the building.
Firefighters responded to the apartment at 577 Sherbrook Street shortly after 7 a.m.
The blaze sent 19 people to hospital, including two in unstable condition. Several others were treated for smoke inhalation.
Flames could be seen engulfing several floors of the multi-storey complex, located between Ellice Avenue and Sargent Avenue. Traffic in the area was blocked off for several hours.
The fire also sent at least one firefighter to hospital.
The cause of the fire and a damage estimate haven’t been released.
It's cold and raining tonight, so I lit the first fire of the winter. And sure enough, the fire-worshipping little hairball moved in on the warmth...

When Charles Lindbergh flew across the Atlantic Ocean, he had TWO planes built, both identical. The one he flew and the backup plane, destroyed in this fire.

This is Nora's favorite part of camping. She always has to be the one to start the fire. She cheat through. It take her half a bottle of lighter fluid to get one going. haha.
It's summer! Summer = BBQ time! My sis & I fired up the grill today (she did most of the work while I snapped pics) today for some yummy BBQ!

There was a fire down the street, so since our power went out because of it, I grabbed my camera and went.
By time I got there they had knocked it down. I was in shorts and a tee shirt and I was about to pass out. And I'm looking at these guys, half of whom were in full gear and packs. Feet from the fire!
Why wait till the next fire or disaster where they risk their lives just arriving at the scene. Next time you see one of them, shake their hand and tell them that they are appreciated! Believe me, you will make their day.
