Ormai questo è un classico dei miei scatti, che ripeto ogni anno in questo periodo, ma con il freddo di gennaio un bel falò è un ottimo modo per riscaldarsi. Si tratta della Focarazza di Roccalbegna, dove la sera prima dell'Epifania viene bruciata un enorme catasta di legno, che spesso brucia ancora nei giorni a seguire.

As adults, fire salamanders are largely independent of surface waters and lead a hidden existence in niches of caves, under dead wood and tree stumps, between rocks and log piles, and in the gap system of the ground. For females, proximity to spawning waters plays an important role in habitat selection, along with the presence of daytime hiding places.

Fire cave has an entrance at both ends, allowing you to shoot Windstone Arch from both directions. Headroom is equally poor from both entrances
The 2018 Spring Creek Wildfire decimated 108,000 acres in southern Colorado between Fort Garland and La Vita. You can see the charred trees on the mountains above the ranch which was spared.

**We have been allowed to come home**
Yes, we have been evacuated again. This fire is closer to where we live. It was started when SCE shut the power off. Some guy who had not been maintaining his generator, switched it on: it exploded.
We're fine. The cats are fine.
The building in the centre, of course. The Fire Brigade in my village is a voluntary organisation - and it really is in (!) the village, ready on shortest notice. Many other essential institutions are not. For example, the next police station is many miles away. So is the nearest bank etc. Somehow, we do manage nevertheless. This is a civilised place.
the photo is not faked, I swear it was my second time as I visited an exhibition of a Zero member that a woman walked in wearing black and red, the same red Piene used for his fire paintings ... !

After scrolling through some photos from last year, I'm ready for the change of season and the snow that comes with it.
The glint from a fiery sunset looks glazed onto the side of a Union Pacific SD70ACe tied down near Lees Cross Roads. The locomotive was the leader on a Norfolk Southern train; the crew had cut away from their tied-down train a mile back during an almost-blizzard at the beginning of 2016 and pulled up to the nearest crossing to meet their jitney home.
