part of a yamabushi closing ceremony for a temple on top of Omine San. a mountain that has prohibited women since the 1300's. We hiked up the mountain starting at 10pm for the start at 2am. One of the most difficult things i've ever done. It was cold, wet and very very dark.

British soldier from the 13th Air Assault Support Regiment Sgt Major Neil Fraser, 36, from Glasgow, holds his weapong after taking part in the test firing prior to an operation to deliver supplies to several British Army Forward Operating bases (FOB) in Helmand Province on July 15, 2008 at their base in Camp Bastion in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. The 13th Air Assault Support Regiment provides logistic support to the multi-national force in Helmand Province. The British drivers navigate hostile desert terrain to deliver combat supplies, ammunitions, food, water and engineering equipment. During a recent operation, drivers spent 48 hours avoiding enemy forces, mine fields and indirect fire. On return to Camp Bastion, vehicles are serviced immediately for further operations leaving little recreational time for the British soldiers who work in heat reaching 54 degrees celcius and drive on terrain without recognizable roads.

Gymnastics display team jumping through hoops of fire. Taken with Sigma 70-200 f2.8 in the most appauling light conditions I have ever attempted to take a photo in.... I think the guy's shorts got singed as in another picture there is smoke coming off his bottom, although it was too blurry so deleted it.

Outside the Yang Sing
I managed to get a good spot outside the Yang Sing to watch the Dragon recieve it's offering, along with a shedload of fire crackers. The sound was incredible, and the smoke dense. Lots of fun though!
The Feuerwehr is a number of German fire departments. The responsible body for operating and equipping fire departments are the German communities ("Gemeinden") and cities ("Städte"). By law, they are required to operate a fire-fighting force including Emergency medical services (EMS) in numbers corresponding to the inhabitants of the county or city. In cities, this is usually performed by the Fire Prevention Bureau, one of the higher-ranking authorities.
Most of Germany's 1,383,730 fire fighters are members of voluntary fire brigades, with a lesser number working in professional fire brigades either operated by
a municipal body, such as the city of Berlin (Berufsfeuerwehr - full-time city department)
a larger company ("Werkfeuerwehr", for the needs of the company operating them) e.g. refineries or chemical industry production facilities
airports to meet the ICAO requirements ("Flughafenfeuerwehr" - this includes airplane factories like that of Airbus in Hamburg)
the armed forces ("Bundeswehr-Feuerwehr" with specialized divisions such as "Fliegerhorstfeuerwehr Cologne-Wahn"/located at German air force bases, military bases, naval bases as well as on any ship of the German navy).
By law, cities with a population of more than 80,000-100,000 people (depending on the state) are required to have a professional fire fighting force ("Berufsfeuerwehr"). Others such as smaller cities and towns can set up a full-time force ("Hauptamtliche Wachbereitschaft"), which is basically a group or a squadron occupying one large fire station around the clock. This force deals with smaller incidents on its own and is supported by voluntary forces for larger incidents. Each community meets the need of fire-fighting personnel by setting up a voluntary force ("Freiwillige Feuerwehr"). A community or a city may also set up a professional fire fighting force without additional volunteer forces. In case it is not possible to recruit enough personnel for this job, the mayor of a city is required to set up a "Pflichtfeuerwehr" (compulsory fire brigade), where he will draft the number of personnel required.
At 12:35AM on June 10, 2018 the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call initially dispatched as 'wires down'. Upon arrival, firefighters found a vegetation fire exposing a mobile home park. Just over 2 hours later, 62 firefighters gained full extinguishment, holding the fire to 5 acres and preventing any damage to structures.
