School is closed today due to a snow and ice storm. The girls got out this morning when it was mainly snow and went sleigh riding and built a snowman. We have not had snow here in a couple years so this is a big event. The snow has now changed to sleet and freezing rain and the roads are getting trecherous. So... we will just stay put here and enjoy the warmth.

insert wood, strike match, retrieve liquid refreshment, prop feet up, turn TV to speed channel for racing...snow, what snow, I don't see no stinking snow...Rather large snowfall in the area yesterday prompting my jonquils and other plants rushing spring to get a white coating.

A paratrooper assigned to Company A, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, fires blank ammunition at a target approximately 300 meters away, May 15, at Vaziani Training Area during Exercise Noble Partner. The exercise is happening May 11 to 26 and includes approximately 1300 participants from the U.S., Georgia and the U.K. The exercise is a reoccurring training event that takes place at Vaziani Training Area, Georgia. Noble Partner 16 is a critical part of Georgia's training for its contribution of a light infantry company to the NATO Response Force (NRF) and enhances Georgian territorial self-defense capability. Relatively normal day today. Working from home and lots to catch up on after three days of meetings so most of the day was spent in front of the computer. Nice to relax in front of the fire before going to bed.

Starting August 10th, the 2015 Soda Fire burned nearly 280,000 acres in southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon, including nearly 200,000 acres of sage-grouse habitat, portions of 41 grazing allotments, three wild horse management areas, and a popular motorized and non-motorized recreation area.
Due to the location of the fire and its effect on federal, state and private lands, a collaborative approach was taken to assess values at risk within the entire burned area.
