August 12th 2013 Pine, Idaho - Unknown fire fighters patrols and watches for "spot-fires" (fires caused by burning embers carried from the main "back-burn" fires), near Pine, Idaho.
Elk fire complex that started on August 8th from an electrical storm. This fire is described as just under 112,00 acres utilizing 631 personnel from various national fire fighting teams. The elk creek fire has destroyed approximately 53 structures, in the Fall creek area, as of yet to be defined in type, and 3 boat docks were also destroyed. This fire is listed as only 10% contained as of August 14, 2013.
buddy had to hold REAL still for me to take this.
so .. this was at 21c friday night.
the worst part? i had no idea what all was involved with the pajama party and therefore only packed along the D50 and 18-200. if i would have known the show i was able to see i would have brought the dan dry lens. even worse though, because i had been 'working' the event .. i had prime seats to watch the show from the baloney overhead...
sigh ..
however i think the fire guy was moving too fast for most of the show to even make good use of the DD lens.
i still walked out with a bunch of interesting shots .. both from the performance and also the details beforehand. for things like this though, i tend to take a few shots, put the camera down, and actually try to enjoy it for once.

Directs herself to go within, to travel. The journey feeling somewhat familiar, even after all these years. Drawing closer to that energy of creation. Directing her will there. But as she nears that center Linn instructed her to find, the tunnel to it becomes filled with memories...Inferna, and her disappearance, the death of Airan and the snuffing out of his dragon blessing upon her as she felt his death, the loss of her adopted family, and tears leak past her closed eyelids, as her hand grips his. An ache of grief hits her. "It burns;" she gasps. "It hurts...oh...god!
The floodgates she had boarded up begin to break open...and the burning continues. She struggles to reach for her shields, to lock down emotion, but she feels like she is plummeting now into a furnace, the door to her old fire magic opening wide and exploding out, having been locked down tight for the last 6 years, roaring painfully through her. She pulls her awareness back only long enough to yank her hands from Linn as a flash fire hits the grass...more than she'd ever been capable of, and only the result of being caged and fueled by grief and anger for so long. She snaps out of her trance with a wail of horror.
