Final del día / End of the day / fino de la tago
Ciudad de México, México
The snowfall has eased with just a few flakes, as CFF Viseu 760mm gauge Bo-Bo diesel-hydraulic 87-0032-0 waits in the yard at the head of its train destined for the timber harvesting sites deep in the forest in the Vaser Valley, bordering Ukraine, at 6.30 am on Saturday 24th February 2018. The train guard checks that all is good with the trailing load before giving the signal to proceed. Three Reșița 0-8-0 tanks are in steam on the shed with 764-421 and 764-449 outside, and 764-435 inside.

Blue Bud...A Series, no. 5
This is the final installment to this series. I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. This is actually a flower I plucked from my work's parking lot, believe it or not. It's very common here in our area. And sadly, I don't even know the name of it. I was just amazed of it's bud clusters, it's symmetry and form. It's truly a wonder of nature. Thanks again for visiting my stream and your kind comments. It's well appreciated.

After visiting the Palace of Parliament, it's time to relax for one final Papanas before heading off to the train station so we can catch the overnight Soviet era train to Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. Papanas is a Romanian doughnut covered in sour cream and a cherry compote, although I opted for raspberries on mine. All accompanied with a raspberry lemonade, it was a fine refreshment on a hot hot day.
My orchid is entering its dormant stage, but I could not resist one final shot of this one when I saw the light shining brightly behind it in our conservatory.
It is now the school holidays and I am also currently doing a photography class so may not be around as much over the next few weeks.
Buen 2010, amig@s flicker@s. Gracias por estar ahí.
Salud y Paz.
aturden y socavan
la altiplanicie de esta noche
y nos obligan a esperar
las doce irreparables campanadas.
La causa verdadera
es la sospecha general y borrosa
del enigma del Tiempo;

End of cycle
The sweet autumn charm.
If we were to the tropics, this would not happen, but since we live in a Mediterranean country, the division of the annual cycle into four phases is very logical.
You have heard of many photographers that autumn has a special charm, and much of the blame is deciduous trees, which someone defines as "trees that lose leaves."
In reality, all trees lose their leaves; What happens is that, while the others are renewing them, they are left without.
What is most captivating is the chromaticity that precedes the fall of the leaves.
The Final Frontier

What's part of historic Route 66 has the most intriguing history? You might agree that Ella's Frontier along Route 66 in Arizona is up there. This place was formerly known as the Frontier Trading Post, the last business of Frederick "San Diego" Rawson. Born in 1861, he apparently spent two years of his childhood held captive by the Plains Indians before being rescued by the U.S. Cavalry. That's not all. He also was a prospector, circus clown and trainer, emcee, wagon freighter, Indian scout, trapper, and cowboy. He opened a museum of his collection along Route 66 before moving to a small log building and opening up his trading post. Eventually, Ella Blackwell Meany owned and operated this place from the 1950s until her passing in 1984. She had attended the Julliard School of Music and kept an upright piano in the trading post. There's some debate as to who built the place. Two sources believe that it was built by Mormon pioneers in 1873, and claimed that it was the oldest trading post on Route 66. This may be a tall tale, but it sure is a fascinating one regardless. The Ella's Frontier sign was removed from the top of the building in 2019. The building unfortunately collapsed after that. This is how it looked in February 2022, with traffic on I-40 zooming past. I illuminated the exterior with a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 during the exposure. This was part of a three-night trip with night photographer Mike Cooper, exploring the remote corners of the desert.
