A moderate sized group of railfans wander around Big Lake station to document an end of an era.
After 16 years of service, beginning November 16, 2009, Northstar made its final round trip on January 4, 2026.
There were a few zoom angles I'd never tried here before but did on this day to document the occasion, wish i had tried some of these sooner. Maybe if the fence ever leaves I might try this spot again someday for a westbound.
As for the equipment, stations and maintenance facility, many rumors have circulated and many bold claims have been made with those rumors. But only time will tell what truly happens. No doubt there's interested parties, as lease deals were made with Amtrak and DART/TRE before Northstar's end was made official.
Regis: How many must die before you are satisfied?
Crystal: I have seen many deaths. But now I am only looking forward to one. And then, I can rest.
Regis: He will take responsibility, you know.
Crystal: As must we all.

A final result of my yesterdays look. I had so much of fun in Zurich. A day spend like a girl, dressed casual and enjoying every moment...

I finished my 15 hour final photography A-level exam today. Within the exam I created six different photographs which I have thought about and developed my ideas for six weeks prior to these 15 hours.
At the beginning of these six weeks I chose the stimulus 'Backstage' - provided by the exam board. I really wanted to experiment with portraiture work therefore I came up with the idea to photograph models with stage make-up on. I felt that through the images the element of drama should be portrayed, hence the heavily theatrical influence. At the time of this I was also preparing for my drama theatre exam, which further influenced the grotesque almost "horror" circus look/nature of the photographs I have created; as my piece was about the horrors of the circus. My aim for my pictures are to show emotion through facial expressions and make-up to show that these "people" are created for a purpose, backstage.
The technological aspects such as the way my photographs are lit are inspired by Irving Penn and his well known use of shadows within his portraits. I believe this gave my photographs a further element of drama further conveying the nature of work produced backstage.
The final Amtrak move out of CAF for the Viewliner IIs slowly rolls over E Thurston St shortly after the NS crew arrives from Buffalo. A nice surprise to see two of the new 50th Anniversary HUs for power.
Friend and fellow railfan Jon Mersereau is seen getting his shots of the move, shoutout to him for offering me a seat to chase the move with him that day.

At Hawthorne Yard on Indy's east side, five Amtrak P40DCs (four in Phase IV), built in 1993, are waiting to be shipped out to its new owner, Larry's, after years of rusting away at Amtrak's Beech Grove shops, and before that, Bear, Delaware. #813 and the rest of these P40s were the first of over two-hundred Genesis units built for Amtrak between 1993 and 2001; the P40s were subsequently stored after only a decade of service.
Whoever will win the final match today, we had a great EURO festival in Germany with football, music and thousands of happy people.

The markers in this old cemetery have primarily Germanic names. It sits on top of a steep hill in south central Wisconsin not far from the town of Rubicon.
Final one from a trip out to Loch Voil in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park from a couple of weeks ago. Taken just before sunset. 2 frames in portrait format using a 21mm lens, stitched and cropped to square format in Photoshop.

There's a candle and a circular.. something, made of rock salt, to soften the candle light. And some tinfoil in the back to reflect it. And that's it, nothing to fiddle in post.

Having been sold to Hilton Coach Travel, Newton-le-Willows in mid-June it performed its final working for Go-Coach on the morning of Thursday 28th June 2018 when it worked the 07:20 route 431 from Chelsfield to Sevenoaks Schools. Following this working it ran empty to Vestry Road for decommissioning.
In dull weather and with Austin at the helm, Go-Coach 9901 LJ58 GCF waits to pull out of Windsor Drive and into Glentrammon Road, Green Street Green whilst working its final duty for the company this being the 07:20 SDO journey on route 431 from Chelsfield to Sevenoaks Schools. Thursday 28th June 2018.
