Thanks to donors' gifts, Star of Hope has now delivered five containers filled to the brim with reconstruction materials to the Philippines.
The content is primarily building materials, clothing, and medical equipment. Three hospitals in Ormoc will take part of the equipment and some of it is also distributed to the locals.
The shipment also includes metal roofing, to be usd on new houses. This involves a total of 10 000 kg metal, donated by Swedish company Plannja, which now becomes a part of the country's reconstruction.

Sun hasn't been too good. So I had to enhance the lighting a little. Tried other color fills but didn't really fit with the white and black theme, gives it more of a professional look. Used a white glossy board to reflect the light. Went with the black to give it more visual appeal.

A-mode flash for fill light? Changing the "aperture"/rel. flash power output in A-mode. I used no modifiers (bare flash).

April 11, 2010 10:20 a.m. In April, the water fountains in the park aren't working, so it's great to have a cooler full of ice water to fill our bottles.
It seemed a good idea to fill in the holes and make this as water tight as possible. Also to make sure the connectors hold in tight. I used epoxy putty which is such a useful material, the smallest bit I could cut off the roll, mixed as you do with that stuff then forced in the back and pushed in as tight as possible.

Had a bit of practice with fill-in flash today. Mrs N offered to model for a couple of shots in the garden. I am doing a wedding in a couple of weeks and need to practice my flash technique.
The fill light I really struggled with and today I finally figured it out! I think....I went down into my basement and found all of my husband's previous army gear. I love the detail of this picture. The light really makes the boots stick out! What I don't like about this picture is the shadow to the left of this photo. I think it would look a lot better if the shadow were a little lighter. I have to figure out how to minimize the shadow with Adobe.
