The Carolina Wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus) is a relatively large wren about 13 cm (5.1 inches) in length. In North America it is second in size to the Cactus Wren
The Carolina Wren is non migratory. It's range is the eastern US, extreme southern Ontario and Quebec in Canada, and south to northeastern Mexico.
The Carolina Wren's explosive song, quite loud for a small songbird, makes this bird easy to locate and identify.
Taken at Dinner Island Ranch, Wildlife Management Area, Hendry County, Florida, USA.
6th February 2017:
Having taken my Macro Mondays photo I looked for something for today's photo. It's still very cold out and didn't encourage me to go out, or no further than the garden.
I looked at the inside seal from the tobacco box and thought the crinkles and textures may make a reasonable photo, so I took it into the garden with the cheese.
The photos were OK, but it looked a bit flat, but as I came back in I happened to catch it under the main light and knew I'd got the shot I wanted.

Taken from a hide a few weeks back - in snow, sleet, rain & wind!! It was damn cold too!!! All good fun!!
Some lovely Crocuses and Primroses in a garden round the corner from us.
I would usually say Croci but according to Collins English Dictionary it's now Crocuses.

Not sure which this is, a Celandine or a Buttercup, but whichever it's nice and bright.
Thanks [https://www.flickr.com/photos/juliek1967/] for sorting me out!!

13th February 2017:
Using my Macro Mondays photo for my photo of the day again, it took me long enough to get a decent photo of it as it was. Plus, I have no intention of going out in the weather we're having this morning!
It's a photo of Graham's heart medication.

Someone has been doing a lot of work in the garden of this house as I haven't seen all of it like this before.
A lot of the very large shrubs and trees have been removed which must be giving them a lot more light.
Not sure if it's a second home or a permanent residence, but it is as big as it looks!

Not picture perfect but a lovely cat sitting on the cemetery wall as I went into the car park.
The town gardeners are clearing a lot of the old hedges and other things in the car park and it's sadly looking rather bare at the moment.

11th February 2017:
We've had rain, hail and loads of biting wind today, so it was an inside photo whether I liked it or not. Took some other ideas but I just loved that Izzy was playing with the nuts as I tried to take a clear photo of them.

1st February 2017:
As the weather wasn't too bad this morning I shot out for some air and a walk, plus to find an outside photo for today, so much easier.
I was going to use Buster, our neighbour Barbara's dog, but decided that this Mimosa tree looked far better, not that Buster isn't a good looking chap too!
Here's Buster:

I would have gone out for a good walk this morning, but my knee was aching a bit, so I decided to take a short stroll around the car park. Loads of Jackdaws, none of which stayed still and some lovely Blackthorn blossom.
I decided to use the tap as it isn't something I would often take and I uploaded a flower for yesterday's photo.

A very soggy Spotted rock-rose in the car park this morning.
The sun made an appearance this morning after a horrible day yesterday, so I made the most of it and risked going as far as the car park.

February 20, 2017, at Rio Blanco Reserve, Manizales, Colombia.
The Buff-tailed Coronet (Boissonneaua flavescens) is found in the Andes Mountains of Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador at 1,400 to 2,800 meters (4,700 to 9,300 feet) above sea level. They are identified by their relatively short straight black bill, dark green head, and buff-colored underparts. Their average length tip of bill to tail is 11.4 cm (4.6 inches). The Buff-tailed Coronet feeds on the nectar of flowers mostly in the canopy and mid-level section of trees. This bird may also add protein to its diet by feeding on insects while clinging to and pecking at the bark of trees much like a woodpecker.

I uploaded my Macro Monday's photo and thought I was done. I'd forgotten that I'd taken it yesterday not today!
Grabbed a quick photo of the Triskell sticker on the French window. We put it up so that we both stopped walking into the door when it was closed when we first moved here.
It's still a great warning for others too.

I took this photo last month and although I tried for a slightly better shot of it today, I decided that this was the better version.

10th February 2017:
Went out for a long walk up to the top of town. Or one top at least, there are quite a few! It looked like it was going to be a good morning for photos. Sadly by the time I'd got to the other side of town it had clouded over and was *very* windy up there!
I first saw the boat, which wasn't anything to write home about, but I liked the shape of the propeller so took it for today's photo.

22nd February 2017:
More rain again today, so it was another inside photo and to keep it fair, it was Rufus's turn to have his photo taken.
He's made himself very comfortable on the sofa so I took some photos of him cuddled up on the cushions. I hadn't the heart to move him.

I was trying to take a photo of a house number plaque on the side of this house. It's a tricky one as it's high up and I have to take the photo through the railings. I'll get it one day.
But while I was trying for that, I noticed the reflections in the front door. Railings, gates and a fence.

February 23, 2017, at La Ceja, Antioquia, Colombia. The Golden-faced Tyrannulet (Zimmerius chrysops) is a small insect-eating bird found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela that inhabits moist forests. Its size is about 4.3 inches (11 cm).
A little library addition in town next to the church. A great idea, but sadly no-one seems to have added any English books!!

9th February 2017:
We were given these sweets (candies) by a friend yesterday, although neither of us are sweet eaters, but never mind.
I had all sorts of ideas as to what I could try doing with them, but trying to work those ideas was too difficult, my editing software just isn't sophisticated enough.
Then this morning I thought instead of trying to create a grass background, why not use the garden.
Although it was freezing cold out, I found an old table cloth to sit/half lie on. Got some toothpicks and stuck the cows into the grass and took some photos. Binned them and went out for another try.
I'm glad it worked that time as I was going blue with cold and Izzy kept trying to play with the cows!
