I took the train to work today. Most of public transport is on strike until tomorrow (busses, trams, subways) so the commuter trains (S-Bahn) were the only thing available when you can't walk or bike or take your car. They had to use a lot of extra trains because everyone had to switch to the S-Bahn. I think that's the reason they even used this almost completely graffiti-covered train without cleaning it in the yard.

Sneak peek at February's fabrics for VIBs and Twice Around the Block VQB. This will be Ode to the Half-Square Triangle. You are ONLY allowed to use HST to make your block--more details later. I will also send each person some Kona Ash in case you want to use a solid. Now I just have to figure out how to divide my Good Folks stash among 23 people!

Melody is a sassy Six Line Kenner with lots of attitude. She told me her favorite month is February because she loves pink, red, hearts and Valentine's Day.

February turned out to be an easy month for me. Whenever Pat announces a new color I think it's going to be hard, but then I start looking around. I like browns, so there was lots of light brown in my home. It was a hard month for me creatively, though. There were a lot of days that I just didn't feel like taking pictures. I think spring, if it ever comes, will help. Light blue is a pretty spring color so hopefully it will inspire me.

First day of February 2018, feeling hopeful now as the days are starting to stretch out again....sunset tonight made for a nice silhouette of Emley Moor Mast, West Yorkshire, UK.
Our tropical hibiscus made the transition to indoor living for the winter, and rewarded our TLC with flowers in February. A much needed reminder of warmer days to come.

My mother always talked about how much she loved Daphne shrubs. Several years ago I found a variety that was hardy here in Vermont. When I saw a woman advertising these shrubs for sale, I bought a couple. When I had to move I gave one to a friend.
It is very happy growing by her porch. They flower very early, on bare wood, and are fragrant.
In more "civilized" climates it does bloom in February.

Cherry blossoms in front of the Washington Monument in Washington, DC. An unusually warm spell prompted some cherry trees to blossom in February - 6 to 8 weeks early.
Realizing I'm a year and a half behind on posting pics, I'm going to try posting by month, and play a bit of catch up. Presenting February of '17 .
