Happy Valentine's Day, Flickr Friends and warmest thanks for your taking time to visit my photostream, for your so-kind comments and most of all, the incredible inspiration and sense of wonder you give me with your captures - you put special joy in my days!
These winter flowers are like little jewels scattered through the park and neighbourhood gardens - a February bouquet, reminding us that spring's on the way, with even more blossoms!
Clockwise, from top left:
Primulas, Miniature Iris, Helleborus, White Plum blossom (Prunus mume), Winter Jasmine (Jasminum nudiflorum), Winter Pansy, English Daisy, Forsythia, Saxifrage, Miniature Daffodils, Heather, Snowdrops
Pen and ink and digital colour and scans - the background and letters are from an old book. The usual model, posed with the shawl I usually keep over the tv, and a rolled up mat from the days of working with polymer clay.

Our February Daphne is a little confused - its usual flowering time is late March early April, not late December.

this is just a little experiment, do you like it?
I'm not sure about the result, but I think it's so sweet
We've been experiencing some phenomenal sunsets lately, but I've never gotten out to enjoy them. I finally made it out to witness last night's show. Gorgeous!

February 2012.
February was just as depressive as January (for me at least).
But I still had some interesting and very funny days.
This month I: Went to a carnival at my old high school dressed as a flying squirrel (look at the photo haha), had a lovely valentines day with my boyfriend, spent ours with my best friend at the local coffee shop and tried to run it without help for a day, spent almost every night sitting in my window, just looking at the stars and the snow while wondering about my life and smoking huge amounts of cigarettes, read some interesting books and bought some aswell, went to a couple of parties and visited the local pub several times.
Actually it was a rather lovely month even though my depression ruined a lot..

Today didn't present the best shooting conditions; overcast and raining outside while my head was quite cloudy after last night's festivities. So I thought, hey, I should just go upstairs to the gritty little attic and snap something quick and dirty. Which is exactly what I did and that's how we got to this point in the story; February 4th done and dusted.
I think the most important part I need to tell y'all though is that our attic key is on a Ghostbusters logo keychain, heh.
9 of 100x. Theme: Weather.
And here's some space weather for y'all.
Before I even did the post-processing in color for this photograph I had saved this b&w version of it. I just love the effect created by the Aurora on the sky sans color. I felt a little bit obligated to upload a color version though because depriving the phenomenon of it's magical green is maybe a little bit cray-cray. On the other hand I couldn't resist the b&w version either so I thought what the hell, I'll just upload that one too (and it just happened to coincide perfectly with this week's theme).
February 2012: Oxfam and its partner Hela Rural Women’s Development Foundation (HRWDF) are equipping women in Tari with the tools to support themselves and their children financially.
Around 30 women have ventured into chicken farming.
Using just day old chicks and a loan from the HRWDF, these women are lifting themselves out of poverty and independently providing for their families.
Yuguli Kapiako, pictured here, is the local contact point and loan collector for the chicken-raising loans.
