An old night shot of Trafalgar Square that I overlooked. Decided to add a Black and White treatment to this image but I liked the look much better when I added a sepia tone.

Each November through February, a migrating population of bald eagles visits the Lake Coeur d’ Alene area in Idaho to feed on spawning kokanee salmon. The BLM began counting the eagles in 1974, and now hosts annual eagle counts for site visitors.

Enough pavement was exposed today to limit days off the bike to three. Just five miles today and a stop by the little red shed. 20F with a windchill of 14F. Great sunlight though.

Ravenhead Junction signal box located by the Down Goods line overlooking Warrington Old Road in St Helens. Sunday 28th February 1988

Ravenhead Junction signal box was a British Railways London Midland Region type 15 design fitted with a 20 lever London Midland Region Standard frame which opened in February 1978, being constructed using parts from the closed Liverpool Exchange No1 signal box and replacing a temporary signal box which had opened in October 1977 after the previous signal box had been destroyed by fire. The line beyond the signal box towards Sutton Oak Junction was closed on 27th January 1989 leaving just the St. Helens Station to Ravenhead Junction section of the St Helens to Widnes line open. The signal box closed on 11th July 1990 with absolute block between St. Helens Station and Ravenhead Junction signal boxes being replaced by one train working with staff but with trains still using both running lines in the correct directions

Ravenhead Junction signal box (left to right) 4 signal (down goods home), 2 signal (departure line home) and 8 signal (from arrival line to down goods) which are all carried on tubular post, and 19 signal (up goods home) with St Helens Station signal box's Up Goods fixed distant signal below it which is carried on tubular post with 13 signal (up goods home to arrival line) on small tubular post mounted on a platform to the left of the main post

Below 8 signal was formerly 9 signal which was removed sometime in the mid-1980s. At the time it was still marked on the signal box's diagram and the lever in the frame was still painted red. 9 signal applied to movements from the Arrival Line through 11B points to a unnamed siding

I made a short visit to Disneyland on Thursday February 25, 2016. I made a few purchases for myself and fellow collectors.

I got the newly released Make a Wish Disneyland 60th ear hats. The patch in the front is partially embroidered. The background and some parts of the character images are printed and not embroidered. It was $19.95, and no discounts were allowed. It is adult sized.

I got a Disney Duets pin of the month for February. It features the face of the Evil Queen with a profile of Snow White in gold overlaying the Queen. It is in a sealed tin. The box doesn't indicate what characters are inside, or what month in the series it is. It is LE 3000, and was $14.95.

We hiked the southern end of Jekyll Island after work. A pod of bottlenose dolphins was doing something just off shore. They stayed there for a while. The sunset was reasonably good.

There were only six flowers in this clump last year.

We have two warbler species that over-winter with us - I'm starting today with the Yellow-rump and will follow up Friday with the Pine warbler. This male Yellow-rump is starting to get his blacker breeding colors. They will become very black by the time they leave us later in the Spring. This warbler is able to switch over to fruits & seeds (they love suet) in the winter - allowing them to spend the winter in my backyard. This Spring he will head North, way North, many to the boreal forests of Canada.

The writing on the gauges and dials on the front of space suit is backwards because the astronaut inside the suit uses a mirror on their left wrist to read it.
