For Freight Car Friday here's another one of these once ubiquitous cars. It's kind of sad but this was the last M426/M427 that I actually saw one on. I'm sure there are more around, but they are falling fast.
MEC 31805 is entrained on CSXT M427 (Rigby Yard to Selkirk manifest) hustling west on CSXT's Boston Sub mainline, the former Boston and Albany Railroad, approaching the water plant crossing at about MP QB89.8. The Pan Am blue car is from a 250 unit order of (Lot 17977) of 58 ft, 77 ton capacity cars built by FMC (originally Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation - at that time owner of Gunderson in Oregon) in Nov. 1978.
The profitable little class 1, Maine Central, had ordered over 1000 new boxcars in the half dozen years prior to Guilford buying the railroad in 1981 and until recently there were still enough around that you were nearly guaranteed to at least see a few anytime you were trackside in New England for any length of time. However, the day will probably come soon when I have taken my last photo of one of these in revenue service but I doubt I'll realize it when it happens.

Vacation blows.
I'm on vacation this week, which means I am working harder than I do when I'm at work (unless my boss is reading this). Yes, Kathy, I only have myself to blame for that. No, Kathy, I don't expect you to feel a bit sorry for me.
Anyway, between projects (and on my way back from Home Depot), I "treated" myself to Steak n Shake. I know, I don't deserve to treat myself so good. But it's cheap, they have the world's best fries, and I have a soft spot for their "American Graffiti"-esque decor.
No story about Dakota (the guy standing there) except for the fact that he let me take his picture.
Back to work now. If any of you single ladies are looking for a guy who loves to stay home and clean the house while you go out with your friends, have I got a guy for you!

This handsome Roe deer buck walked around me in a semi-circle, barking, just to let me know I had been identified as a 'predator' and therefore any further pursuit would be futile. He sported a wonderful pair of antlers. I have yet to find any dropped antlers in the wild, but hopefully my day will come.
You might be interested to know that my local newspaper has published an article about my photos today. It might be grey and cold outside, but I'm sure you'll love the colourful selection they've printed: t.co/3wSaGRcWmo
Well that went by fast haha!
This year I was privileged to make many new friends here on Flickr and be 'Explored' twice in a month. This year has also seen Sicily grow from a humble beginning to a near presentable project as well as my scene compatibilities grow to levels which I never thought possible. I started the year with less than 200 followers, and now I am about to reach 400. I have also seen a recent surge in the popularity of WWII Italians in the Community, something I thought would never happen. I cannot tell you how overjoyed I am! Thanks all for a great year!
To begin the New Year, I will be filling 'the void' of which I have wanted to for a while: Obtain a custom, detailed Major Bonacelli fig to take to conventions and use for my Flickr Icon. Any good customizers out there are welcome to FM me if they wish to undertake the hard task! Lol! ;-)
Here's to 2015 and God Bless Everyone! :-)
