A rockhound looks for petrified wood near Oregon Buttes on South Pass in Fremont County Wyoming. This activity may soon be outlawed in the High Desert District of Wyoming by new a new resource management plan under consideration by The US Bureau of Land Management.
With several inches of fresh snow and frigid temps that assured it wouldn't melt I headed west after work for a couple trains at one of my favorite spots that offers up perfect morning light.
CSXT train I022 (hot Syracuse to Worcester long pool intermodal) with 2748 tons and 4443 ft of train trailing two big Gevos up front makes effortless work of the 1% grade up Charlton Hill as they sail thru the interlocking at CP60 on modern day CSXT's Boston Sub mainline, the once and forever Boston and Albany Railroad. The train's destination is only fifteen miles away after making a fast early morning run along the Mohawk River, across the Hudson and up over the Berkshires on the the old Vanderbilt road.

A UP Z train heads by an industry in Chester, IL on the UP Chester Subdivision with a GE Tier 4 and an EMD Tier 4. Although it isn't easily visible, the Mississippi river is just off to the left of the industry.

Uploaded for 117 Pictures in 2017 #26 Selective colour. I'm aware the date taken isn't showing for this image but I did definitely take it in January 2017, my sister came over from England to visit for my 50th birthday on 16th January & we went wandering around Waterford city. I was hoping the Flickr photo editor which replaced Aviary would keep the selective colour feature but sadly it didn't. I don't have software that does selective colour nor is it available on my camera. If I can work out another way to do a selective colour image which shows the actual date I will & replace this one before the end of the year.
Reading & Northern's road freight, dubbed the 'North Reading Fast Freight', hustles across the bridge near Jim Thorpe, PA on a mild December evening. Leading the train is the matched pair of 'Fast Freight' painted units, 5018 & 19.
