"Seid ihr am Nordpol?" So reagierte meine Enkeltochter, als sie die "Schneebilder" aus Norwegen sah. Dieses Jahr war im Juni in den höheren Gebieten noch eine Menge Schnee vorhanden.
Dieses Bild verknüpfe auch ich mit abbrechenden Gletscherkanten im Nordpolarmeer.

Fun and games at Green Lane, The Wirral as a Merseyrail class 508 EMU enters the station from the underground section.
I was drawn to the repetitive arrowhead of the footbridge and approaching EMU. A change of pace, and probably limited appeal, but I figured it was worth waiting for a couple of trains to get what I was after.

Depoe Bay is a city on the Pacific Ocean Oregon Coast. It has a harbor that the city promotes as the world's smallest navigable harbor. The entry to the harbor is a 30 foot wide passage with a concrete wall at the opening and rock wall for the rest. We rented a place with a great view of the boats going in and out, a variety from kayaks on up to 40 ft tour boats for fishing and/or whale watching. We noticed that most power boats came in at high speed and then slowed some as they came to some bends in the passage. The sea was quite calm so the whales' puffs, backs and tails were easily seen from our place.
A Tufted Titmouse jumps from cover and scans the surroundings quickly as the rains come down, hoping to snag a meal before getting too wet.
This was another one of those days where the weather just wouldn't play ball. Great, fast moving clouds that I knew would create a really atmospheric, long exposure image. But my progress was hampered by squally rain showers that regularly peppered me just as I was set up and ready to shoot. Fortunately, there was a break in the showers that was long enough for me to get a couple of compositions in the bag. Having to work quickly is not something I like to do but nonetheless, I am pleased with the images I got of Cullen Bay in Morayshire, Scotland.
A crazy speed boat with 900 hp and a top speed of 135 mph... just your average Sunday cruiser. This is just a small part of the hull, I accidently deleted the original shot of the entire boat :(

Just another look back to a fun trip to Reading and Northern land earlier in the year.
The last stop on our Reading & Northern chase was here splitting the controlled signals just south of the former Lehigh Valley Coxton Yard that is the end point of the run from North Reading. This is MP 3.1 on what modern day RBMN designates as their Susquehanna Branch, the continuation of the former Conrail upper Lehigh Line acquired in 1996. They are crossing over and running parallel here to the former Lackawanna Bloomsburg branch that just to the right of and below them and that is also now operated by RBMN here in this area.
Leading the way is 5019 in its new one of a kind (for now) paint scheme. This locomotive is a rebuilt SD50-2 acquired from CSXT that was originally blt. Mar. 1984 as Seaboard System 8550.

DGS 68798 Hamburg Hohe Schaar - Pirna Gbf
Am frühen Morgen des 3. Septembers 2021 war der Himmel über Hamburg und fast komplett Norddeutschland bedeckt. Nur im äußersten Norden war schon etwas blau am Himmel auf den Webcams sichtbar. Gegen 9 Uhr zeigten sich dann aber auch über dem östlichen Hamburg einige lichte Stellen in der dichten Wolkendecke. Die Wolkenkante war schon ein ganzen Stück von der See in Richtung Festland gewandert. Von Minute zu Minute schien bei mir zu Hause immer länger die Sonne und die Wolken lösten sich ganz langsam auf. Eigentlich hatte ich schon mit der eigentlich geplanten Fototour abgeschlossen, weil sich südlich von Hamburg nach gar nichts am Himmel tat. Es war einfach dunkel. Das Wetter Radar versprach aber, dass es dort bis 11:30 Uhr dann auch langsam blau werden sollte. Also hab ich dann ziemlich spontan meine Sachen gepackt, bin dann zur Garage und habe meinen Hyundai in Richtung Zielgebiet gesteuert. Die Sonne gab inzwischen alles und sie kämpfte sich durch den Panzerschlonz hindurch. Auf dem Weg zur Autobahn fuhr ich die ganze Zeit in der Sonne. Auf dem halben Weg nach Bardowick hatte ich die schräg über dem Norden verlaufende Wolkenkante erreicht. In Hamburg-Harburg waren noch nicht viel von der Sonne zu sehen. Der anvisierte Zug war inzwischen Abfahrbereit im Hamburger Hafen. Könnte also einen knappe Sachen werden bis ich in Bardowick bin. Nach der Ankunft auf der Feldwegbrücke waren noch viele große Wolken am Himmel. Die Abfahrtsmeldung aus dem Hafen kam fast zeitgleich. Ich war also noch rechtzeitig vor Ort. Der Zug sollte noch mindesten 20min zu mir brauchen. Das Signal vom Außengleis war inzwischen grün geworden. Ich machte die Kamera mal schussbereit und positioniert mich hinter der Leitplanke. Währenddessen löste sich genau über mir und direkt vor der Sonne eine dicke Wolke auf. Am Ende der langen Geraden erschien eine rot Lok. Es wurde dunkel. Ein Wolkenfetzen trieb bei dem starken Wind noch vor die Sonne. Als die DB Cargo 152 mit einem Containerzug am Haken im Auslösepunkt angekommen war, war es wieder richtig hell. Das erste Sonnenfoto war im Kasten. Nachdem der CT-Zug aus dem Block draußen war, wurde das Signal gleich wieder gelb und kurz darauf grün. Der nächste Güterzug war im Zulauf. Ich konnte allerdings in der Ferne durchs Tele nicht genau erkennen was dort auf mich zurollte. Es war blau. Ich bezog wieder meine Position hinter der Leitplanke und ließ mich mal überraschen was dort gleich hinter der Baumgruppe erscheinen würde. Es war der obige Vectron mit einem bunten Kesselzug im Schlepp. Die schön saubere 383 010 war erst der zweite CD Cargo-Vectron für meine Sammlung. Keine 10min an der Fotostelle und schon zwei Bilder im Kasten. Wie man auf dem obigen Bild sieht, waren von den Wolken inzwischen nur noch Fetzen über und nach weiteren 15min war der Himmel wolkenlos. Der eigentlich anvisierte Zug konnte somit später auch erfolgreich fotografiert werden. Aber das ist dann eine andere Geschichte...
