The color this fall in Colorado was incredible! I’ve never seen so much color! Every and anything that had leaves 🍁 that could change color or had color did! It was complete sensory overload! Everywhere you looked…there was color! It was incredible! This was one of the first scenes I photographed on my trip to Colorado this past fall. I had been up pretty late in the evening trying to get to this location as the storm was starting to break. I guess the lack of sleep paid off!
I was somewhat nervous getting back into the field, because I hadn’t really shot much over the summer and was recently coming off of eye surgery as well. But like anything else, once you get back into the swing of things, everything starts to flow and you get your grove back. I think got my groove back😉

During the first week of October I scouted this viewpoint and shot some nice late afternoon / early evening light. I knew I wanted to come back and try a pano at sunrise. I was lucky enough to come back 2 weeks later and still have some color in the foliage. I ended up composing this Sunrise Panorama from 8 vertical frames - October 17th.
Apparently the Croton Gorge dam is the 3rd largest structure of its kind in the world, beaten out only by 2 much older and much more famous structures...the literal Great Wall of China and the actual Pyramids. I'm not even lying, check Wikipedia!
I am lying about the colors though. Although the colors are definitely starting to pop in the Northeast, the yellows and oranges in this image were enhanced. Give it a week or two and this will be real though!
Every fall, pumpkin farms in Ontario attract tourists. However, only 10% of the pumpkins end up as food, while the other 90% are used for Halloween decorations. Surprisingly, pumpkins are actually fruits! Fun fact: Did you know that, in the past, people used them as containers to store milk and grains?

On dull and rainy days like these I love to think back to the golden October days last year that brought us such a riot of colors.
Fall had arrived at the High Tauern National Park, the Larch trees had turned golden, and the moutain tops were powdered with the first snow - it was breathtakingly beautiful.
