I thought about how the past can become so small. An entire day, 24 separate, heavy hours, becomes the size of a tiny brown leaf falling from a tree. Before you know it, a whole year is just a pile of brown leaves on the ground. I knew that this day would soon feel far away, too. - Kimberly Novosel
A few months ago the days couldn't fall away fast enough. This last week, I've been savouring them like I used to, holding them close, letting them go - I've had a good solid handful of moments this week when I have been literally filled to the brim with delight :-) Seeing a blood red moon from the top of a hill, howling with new friends in a hot tub at midnight in the pouring rain, singing Cher at the top of my lungs on a wicked car journey, watching people surpass their expectation of themselves, witnessing a lovely man with a bad back push a broken down car up a hill for a stranger. All this wonderful stuff is restoring me, I'm wanting those leafy days to slow down again, I'm enjoying watching them float. And after this week I am certainly exhausted, but I am very full, and very happy. <3
The leaves on this patch of Snow Berry plant have lovely fall colours. Unebible to humans Snow Berries are a favourite of a lot of birds

Coastal California has been under a smog bank all week. Some days it's a monochromatic orange hellscape. Some days the cinders coat every surface, and hang suspended in every exposed web. All at once, the work of countless spiders ruined. But every day, if you shine a light while it's dark, you'll see the fine ash just floating there like toxic pixie dust.

Fallasburg, Michigan
From the Michigan Historic Site Sign:
Fallasburg was settled in 1837 by two brothers from Tompkins County, New York. In 1839, John Wesley Fallas purchased the northwest quarter of section 24 and laid plans for a village. His brother, Silas S., also purchased land at that time. Other family members soon followed, making the long journey in covered wagons. John W. built a sawmill on the east bank of the Flat River in 1839. In it he established a chair factory that was the forerunner of the Kent County furniture industry. He soon added a grist mill.
Fallasburg was a prosperous lumber town, posting over one hundred inhabitants by 1850. At one time, it offered a hotel and an inn that served as a regular stop on the stagecoach route between Grand Rapids and Ionia. The town also had two general stores, two show and harness shops, a post office, a distillery and several blacksmith shops. This structure, the Fallasburg School, was built in 1867. The focal point of the town, it was the site of town meetings, box socials, funerals and church services.

Here is one from a while back (end of Oct.) Sunrise over Lake Erie with the Cleveland Skyline in the distance. Huntington Beach - Bay Village, Ohio.
This shot of some Virginia foliage was taken from across the Potomac River standing in Maryland at Point of Rocks.
I finally got to visit this masterpiece. It's amazing.
Photography was limited. But I took some shots.
I didn't wait for this moment at all, it just happened to happen as I was starting to compose the shot. I quickly pressed the trigger. Gotta love the fast SLR cameras!

This morning was lovely outside, so I spent the majority of my time out of the house, but by noon the humidity had spiked and the wind was picking up.
And around one, the sky clapped loudly and the rain started to fall, it's been raining on and off ever since so I decided to try something different today with my photo of the day.
I think I like it; the colours against the falling rain works for me. And besides, different is always good. :)

First post after a long gap. Recently took a trip to the Smokies, TN, USA. Wonderful scenery. Weather is too cold to raft on the streams there which is a popular activity normally. We drove around most of the time and took some short hikes. I was stopping to take pictures every few feet. My wife patiently waited all along and was laughing at how childlike I am.
definitely my favourite image from this morning. i usually ignore this tree but with the separation caused by the falling snow and low cloud creates a completely different scene.

Mirinda fell, but she managed to save the mysterious wing seeds. Well almost!
As she hit the floor the cork popped out of the seed jar and Oh no!!!! The seeds fell all over her !!!! >.<
