A winding path leads through a sunlit forest, the golden light filtering through the trees and illuminating the fallen leaves. The path invites exploration and discovery in this tranquil woodland setting.
The marvel is not just that some of the oaks and beech of Epping Forest date back many hundreds of years but also that they continue to flourish without a fully functional trunk. I can't guess the age of this oak but note the top trunk growing out of apparently nothing.
Quietude, forest fragrance, sunlight, soft ground, warm air and buzzing insects, this is my Swedish summer.

While driving to some places for my past forest and water images, everytime i missed to stop at a small forest glade, which can partially seen while driving by.
Some weeks ago, i stopped there but it was to late to see anything only equipped
with my headlamp, i lighten the scene to look, is it worth to come back.
This week, i spontaneously come back there again. For my surprise, another area was in front the scene i visited first. So i took a decision to lighten the new found place. The complete area with gras on ground is only about 300m long.
Very rare in our local forests.

Flowerpot Island on Georgian Bay is made of rocks, boulders, and slabs of shale. The trees grow among the rocks. It's an interesting hike where you can find all kinds of moss, lichen, and wildflowers.
During a walk in the forest. With the light and the fresh green of Spring it felt like magic. Transformation to B&W with yellow and green tones converted to light represented (IMHO) this atmosphere very well.

Another shot from a recent hike in the jungle of a national park in Phetchabun province. I really liked the dark, dim light that day, the contrasts and deep darks, not much light filtered through the cracks in the dense forest canopy down into the narrow valley. Only a few days after my trek a visitor was killed in this area in an encounter with a wild buffalo.
Here a fallen wild banana in the stream. Bananas are commonly called 'tree', but botanically they are a herb.
