It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.

- Robert Louis Stevenson

Lovely texture thanks to Jai Johnson.

My Photoblog- My Third Eye...!

Forest view from Luukki, Espoo. Taken early in the morning on 2 August 2016

It is impossible to pass into this section of the forest at the moment - as you can see the brambles grow high here. The deer and wildlife manage somehow and you can see their vague trails. I didn't see any when I was there however.

The pine is the dominant tree of my region present in most forested areas. The plantation has begun for many years and for economic reasons, especially for timber and resin used as raw material for diverse products. The pines are also dangerous, because they drop needle-shaped leaves covering the ground with a "carpet" of leaves (as seen in the photo), which are very flammable and one of the main reasons of fires in the region.

The Forest of Paphos, a few minutes walk from home.

The cool breeze in the evenings makes walking here a most pleasurable experience.

On a few rare occasions I spotted wild mufflon here (mufflon is the shy goat like symbol of Cyprus that is only found in this forest).

A little further, in a secret location known to only a few we pick in the summer the most scented oregano. It keeps for years but we replenish it every summer so we don't run out.

Midday winter sunlight in the forest.
