This camera will always hold a special place for me. It was a gift from the parents of my last exchange student. It had been the mother's grandfather's camera. He had given it to the mom before she went on her own adventure as a youth to China. She had stopped using it and, upon seeing the vintage camera collection that I have been assembling when they visited us for Christmas two years ago, they shipped this to me from Denmark on their return home.
In an unrelated note, I am almost feeling myself again this morning and I have a burning imagination full of ideas for my next series that I want to start working on today. All of this is just in time, as my brother-in-law, his wife and our niece will be arriving tomorrow morning for a visit! It has been a year since we last saw them all; so we are very excited!
From straight on you could look straight through this old barn. It was odd; I couldn't figure out why it would be this way, with some of the siding removed. Maybe the owners were removing the siding to sell it as "weathered barn wood," but I don't know.
I've been trying to take a picture of this barn for a long time, one way or another, but nothing ever really worked before. It's just something I pass on the way back from one of my 12-step meetings. (I've never asked for permission to go onto the property, something I've been meaning to try.) A lot of failures went before this shot.

Thanks to Creations for Charity the hallowed story of the Gypsy Queen squadron has another chapter...
What's the story you ask? It all started years ago when Stijn built the MATSF-5000E Superbanshee II SE which was gifted to none other than Keith, who in turn honoured Stijn's gift with an epic build - the Gypsy Queen, You are cleared for Launch.
Which, was in turn homaged by yours truly with Operation Oscar as my launch pad to try to bribe voters at every convention with my FrogPODs (it didn't work).
So I finally got to not only meet Mr. Goldman and partake in one of his epic layouts, he but gifted me one of the Gyspy Queens.
The last, would be donated to C4C - where it would be up for grabs by anyone.
... but what fun would that be? Plus it'd be a horrible way to end the story of the Gypsy Queens....
Instead, I seized the oppurtunity to dictate where the last Gyspy Queen would land...
So now I have two.
I don't really need two.
I just need one.
So where will the last one go?
Someone will get a nice Xmas present.

Why not make some kid's christmas better too? There are plenty of awesome mocs in Creations for Charity store, so why not make your holidays, and some kid's holiday that much brighter?
In the comments on this image a challenge was issued by Panorama Paul for me or Shotzy to shoot a sunset scene with snow.
"Not an easy challenge", I told him given that sunset is my busiest time of day and we don't often get good sunsets where I live. Well two days later the opportunity presented itself: I had to drop one child off at a Valentine's party at 5 and pick up another from a birthday party at 6. The sun sets at 5:45. It had been a clear sunny day. This is what I was able to capture.
Here's a sunrise one from Shotzy the morning I took this sunset.

Lancashire is not known for flatland but around Ormskirk, Blackpool and Leyland there are great tracts of cropland. In some points one could easy think they are actually down south!
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Lancashire_Coastal_Plain
The West Lancashire Coastal Plain is a large area in the south west of Lancashire, England.
The plain stretches from the Rimrose Valley in Seaforth, near Liverpool on the Mersey, to the south, to Preston on the Ribble, to the north. To the east, the plain is bounded by the foothills of the Pennines, while the western edge of the plain is separated from the sea by sand dunes. It is very flat, and much of it is only a few metres above sea level.
The terrain is mostly glacial in origin. The area has been inhabited since neolithic times, though large areas would have been marshy. The WWT Martin Mere near the villages of Holmeswood and Tarlscough gives a glimpse of what this area was like before reclamation. The mere was, until reclamation, the second largest body of fresh water, behind Windermere[1]. The Rivers Mersey, Alt and Ribble feed into the plain and the flood plains add to the flatness.
Large areas have been reclaimed and have a distinctive pattern of rectangular fields of dark peaty soil with deep drainage ditches. It is common to find the suffix "Moss" in the names of local places. As is usual in these types of areas, the settlements tend to be on any available hill, many formed by sandstone outcrops. The land is fertile and agriculturally very productive. Vegetable crops include potatoes, carrots, cabbages, brussels sprouts and onions.
The main market town for this area was Ormskirk. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal crosses the plain and, in summer, is used for irrigation, bringing water from the Pennines.[citation needed] The Trans Pennine Trail starts in Southport and crosses the plain following the Southport & Cheshire Lines Extension Railway to Aintree, before continuing towards Manchester and Hull. The historic Lathom House was built upon the plain.

I'm dedicating this image to my wonderful contact Krista Palmu. She wrote me a very nice testimonial yesterday...every word she wrote means so much to me. Thank you so much Krista! If you're not already a fan of Krista's stream, please go right now to see her beautiful work.
Krista and I have done some bonding over our very similar taste in photography...we both LOVE simple, uncluttered, minimal compositions. When I first arrived on the Flickr scene, I fell head over heels for her work. I'm always excited to see what she'll be uploading next. She has a wonderful knack for creating beautiful images with soft pastels and light, airy, featherlike moods. She's a must see here on Flickr!
I feel like a bad contact the past couple days...I've been falling behind on your streams. Sorry!! Will do my best to get around to you tonight!

Receiving a testimonial from Anna was a big surprise, a great pleasure and honor as she is a photographer I really admire.
Her flower macro shots are soft, delicate, dreamy. Colors are always bright, outstanding, enhanced in their beauty. The feeling I get from her work is enchantment.
Thank you so much Anna for your appreaciation and being such an inspiring contact!

American Robins spend a good deal of time on the ground listening for their food. They're animated and fun to watch as they run between the newly emerging leaves with their heads cocked - listening/ watching/nibbling...listening/watching/nibbling.
They're also really curious and feisty little characters... which will often bring them right up to quietly sitting humans. :)

for Spring
I was poking around with my Helios lens in an old hanging basket this morning. We had some sun for a change, but there isn't much to shoot yet, so I had to be content with mostly dormant or dead stuff, however the light is always a challenge, and can enhance even dull looking material.
Even at the most popular places in the world, there is always something new waiting for us :)

portfolio and services:
I have this really good friend named Jon. He has taught me a lot over the years and like all good friends there are things that Jon has said to me that have always stuck with me. These little jewels come up in my head every now and then and always make me smile when I think of them. Case in point, this photo.
I was out for a sunrise shoot around the opera house and was hoping that I might get some color in the sky with all these beautiful clouds. As I started to see just a hint of color(what you see in this photo is all I got) I rushed around circle quay trying to find the right composition. As I came around the corner I ran to the end of the dock and setup to take some shots. Its a shot I had taken earlier in the week so after I took my shots I started to crave something different. As I walked back the way I came I remembered something Jon had shared with me, his love of "bench" pictures! Being the dreamer that he is, his love for "benches" in pictures has always stuck with me. Maybe its because there is something magical about an empty bench, longing to be sat in, while enjoying the view of whats in front of it. I have have to admit I secretly started to like them to, these "bench" pictures, maybe for the same reason. Its the dreamer in both of us I guess and its why I think we get along so well as friends.
Now every time I'm on a photo adventure, I always try to remember to grab a "bench" photo for my friend Jon.....and maybe for myself too :)

Prompt: What inanimate object/thing/concept is something that you take for granted on a daily basis? What would someone who is not as fortunate as you are say about your “luck” to have such a thing in your life? Think about your blessings today – focus on opportunity/experience/something you have/do EVERYDAY that is an unforeseen blessing in your life.
My picture for the Joy of Luck group today represents two things. (besides being slightly cliche, sorry!) The first one is reading. Not just the ability to read, though I am grateful, but the access to any book I want, the time to read, the knowledge I gain, and very often the escape it gives me.
The other, which you cannot tell, is that this book is about the gorgeous mountains i live next to. I definitely take them for granted and do not get up in them as often as I should. I do know how lucky I am to live next to them, and need to make it more of a priority in our busy lives to escape there, decompress, and soak in a little nature. It is usually just what I need.
For the 15th time, the PBR Unleash the Beast took place on January 10 and 11, 2025 at the All-State Arena outside Chicago.
Joao Ricardo Vieira made his 1,000th career premier series out, making him the fifth cowboy in PBR history to reach that milestone. He took sixth place in the event, earning $3,400.00. Brady Fielder won the event, earning $52,590.

We've noticed a massive drop in the numbers of bees this spring, and of insects in general. I hope we're not too late in realising the value of these little guys.
Un'immagine semplice ma delicata, quasi eterea e soprattutto che, NELLO SFONDO, ricorda tanto il colore dei suoi occhi, per ringraziare Stefania per il testimonial che mi ha scritto.
Grazie Stefania!
_______
A simple yet delicate, almost ethereal image and most of all IN THE BACKGROUND similar to the color of her eyes; to say thank you to Stefania for her testimonial for me.
Thanks a lot Stefania!
I'd like to extend a great big 'Congratulations' to my dear and long time Flickr friend, Kathy. All the best to you, your family and especially little Mr. P.
This may not be the traditional bird for the occasion, but seeing as flamingos are Kathy's favourite type of bird, well, what the heck! =^D

I have finished today 2 repaints for a very nice person :) She asked me to "refresh" their two Elsas. I work these days like a machine :) I have some to show you ;)
Goal for next week: to not take a last minute photo! Been procrastinating and leaving my photos for the last day lately resulting in me being rushed on a busy sunday, trying to get a quick photo so I don't miss a week. Will have to try to change that for next week and put my all into my photos again. Hope you all had a wonderful mother's day.

Skateboarders rally at City Hall in downtown Toronto. With a large ramp that runs close to the front building, many took the opportunity to have a run down it. Sufficive to say, many didn't make it down that smoothly.
