Sculpt progress on the Space Jockey - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Using Aves FIXIT sculpt. Feeling very encouraged after my first sculpting session last night. I feel that if I can produce a successful head sculpt, the rest of the figure will fall into place. I hope this remains true with the Space Jockey. I feel I am "headed" in the right direction! LOL! Bad joke....Anyway, the plan is to complete the head sculpt early this week and then begin sculpting the rib cage and lower section of the creature. I plan to sculpt the entire piece using Aves FIXIT, using sheet styrene and monster clay as framework. ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎spacejockey‬ ‪#‎hrgiger‬ ‪#‎sculpture‬ ‪#‎diorama‬ ‪#‎prometheus‬

THRILLING isn't the word to describe what I'm feeling right now after receiving these pictures from Jean-Pierre Jeunet this morning of my Newborn (Alien: Resurrection) head sculpt on display along with various other miniatures made by fellow artists, Kazuhito Kimura, Dominique Roche and the director himself, Jean-Pierre Jeunet!

So happy and thankful once again for the opportunity to contribute to a beautiful display full of brilliant work. I'm honored to be part of it!

If you're visiting Lyon, France before May 19, 2019, be sure to take some time to check out the Caro/Jeunet exhibit at the Musée Miniature et Cinéma and say hello to my little guy. He may be a little homesick but he's in good company

Additional images on my workup of AVA's frame - Ex Machina - 1:12 scale. First some "likeness tests" as I like to call them - it's a helpful tool to overlay images of the subject I am sculpting (in this case, Alicia Vikander) to make sure proportions are correct. It doesn't always help with the shapes as much as it has to do with spacing of the eyed, ears and mouth. Additional image are of the head and body frame as both have been modified. The body has been reduced once again to make way for the sculpt work. I plan on sculpting the actress as she appears on set in her bodysuit....then on the backend, separate the parts and begin construction the skeletal parts as well as the transparent dome, arms, legs and torso. For now I am working on a few other projects in the 1:18 scale. ‪#‎ava‬ ‪#‎meetava‬ ‪#‎exmachina‬ ‪#‎sithfire30‬ ‪#‎AliciaVikander‬

I'm building an A.I.,.....AVA in her infancy. Ex Machina - 1:12 scale work in progress. Still rough around the edges while I focus in on Alicia Vikander's likeness. The body needs to be thinned out more. She needs new feet to be sculpted with articulation. Ears and the skull will be sculpted/defined more....then it will get tricky. More to come on this project.....‪#‎ava‬ ‪#‎meetava‬ ‪#‎exmachina‬ ‪#‎sith_fire30‬ ‪#‎turingtest‬

Sculpt/Build update of the "Crabwalking" Alien - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. This figure is inspired by a deleted scene for the 1979 Sir Ridley Scott film - ALIEN. You'll understand the figure more if you take a moment to check out the deleted scene - youtu.be/eR5jYeIMBKk

Finished the build yesterday. The final figure has better articulation than originally expected. I can actually pose the figure from a "crawl" to a "rising" position which is a plus since I originally conceived the idea of the figure being a static posed piece. An unpainted resin piece, using revoltech joints in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, upper legs, knees and ankles. The tail is held by a magnet, is static (hard plastic) and comes in three positions: curled, unfurling and straight. ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎deletedscene‬ ‪#‎lambert‬ ‪#‎crabwalking‬ ‪#‎giger‬ ‪#‎creepy‬ ‪#‎figure‬ ‪#‎art‬ ‪#‎sculpt‬

Sculpt progress on the Space Jockey - 1:18 scale - ALIEN. I think,...well, I'm sure I'm close to having the head finished....Finally LOL! I keep going back to make adjustments but it's gotta be right or everything else will just look wrong. I have a little more adjustments and age to add onto the piece before moving to the body. The area around the neck and shoulders will be difficult as I don't have many images to go by showing detail..I plan on sculpting the body this week, along with starting some other sculpt projects. Don't want to burn out on this guy too quickly. Sculpt material is Aves FIXIT. Included another scale shot sporting the Nostromo explorers as well as my little custom cameo smile emoticon ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎spacejockey‬ ‪#‎derelict‬ ‪#‎hrgiger‬ ‪#‎giger‬ ‪#‎biomechanical‬ ‪#‎sculpture‬ ‪#‎avesfixitsculpt

The Egg Morpher (Xeno) - ALIEN: Defiance (Dark Horse Comics) - 1:18 scale....Pulled from the pages of the Dark Horse Comics series Alien: Defiance and inspired by the artwork of artist Tristan Jones.

Sculpt update - Began working on the build late last week but haven't had time to post updates so what you will see here is a series of images taken along the course of several days (more like very late nights). The material I am using is Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Studio LLC.

I always begin with sculpting the head first. This creature is larger that the standard xeno warrior so the figure will be featuring a completely new sculpt, no recast parts from others I've made. The body will be similar to the big chap (alien 79), but slightly larger, with longer limbs and fingers. I'm staying true to the artists concepts and panel depictions of the beast within the comic....to the best of my ability. This isn't my first rodeo when it comes to sculpting comic based characters (Star Wars anyone?).

The skull will be a hard shell, similar to the warrior drone. Very similar to the spitter alien (Colonial Marines) so I'm using a reduce frame of an existing spitter head cast. The head sculpt will feature both an open and closed mouth. Waiting to find out if the beast features a traditional inner jaw or an expanding protrusion similar to the Deacon from prometheus. About a half inch longer than the warrior drone head.

Much more to come - may revisit the sculpt on those teeth and make them a tad smaller....and more of them. More to come! #alien #aliens #defiance #darkhorsecomics #aliendefiance #eggmorpher #xenomorph #sculpture #avesfixitsculpt #avesstudio #miniature

Completed Jedi Master Luke Skywalker as seen in issue #3 of Star Wars Invasion by Dark Horse Comics. Luke is in command of Republic forces sent to the planet Rychel in order to repel the invading forces of the Yuuzhan Vong.

The figure was mostly sculpted in Aves Epoxy FIXIT sculpt using a plastic articulated armature. The forearms and hands have been recasted from original parts. The head originalted from a Legacy Snowspeeder Luke figure, casted in wax and completly retooled and refined adding additional markings to the face, age lines, a lower brow, hair and ears...I also strengthened the jaw. The figure measures 3.75" in height. Painted using Floyquil Acrylics by testors.

Self-portrait sculpt still in the works. Sculpting the lower body right now - science uniform, similar to Ash. Will soften the wrinkles and folds a tad after the sculpt is complete with some fine sandpaper. Will probably sculpt my hair again as I no longer spike it....hair gel was the thing for me several years ago. LOL! Sculpt progress on Ava - 1:12 scale. Ex Machina. Sculpted the ears!! smile emoticon Did a little more shaping of the machine skull. I'll begin detailing it tonight. If this works I may repeat the same process with all the machine exposed parts. ‪#‎exmachina‬ ‪#‎ava‬ ‪#‎aliciavikander‬ ‪#‎A24‬ ‪#‎sith_fire30‬

Sculpt update in the Protomorph (Alien: Covenant) 1:18 scale and the Praetorian Xenomorph (Aliens: Defiance) 1:18 scale - all works in progress.

For what time I had this weekend I was able to sculpt most of the exoskeleton of the upper body. Still have the back and spine to complete. The abdomen will be separated into two pieces similar to how Revoltech engineered their alien figures. In fact, I've cast several copies of the revoltech abdomen, dremeled them down and will sculpt over the frames. I've already used this technique with the Spitter alien and it looks to work fine.

As for the Praetorian, I am sculpting the Big Chap (79 Alien) all over again, just in a larger scale. Began with the shoulders and will move onto the upper chest this week. As far as the tendons on the mouth...I'm thinking of going back and removing the clay sculpt and add clear hot glue after painting the creature. The effect worked wonderfully with various versions of my 79 beastie...

Not photographed is a build up of the upper torso to the Neomorph and the very early beginnings of a Newborn head sculpt (Alien: Resurrection). Status of those coming soon. #alien #aliens #covenant #defiance #darkhorsecomics #praetorian #miniatures #sculpture #actionfigure #nostromo #avesfixitsculpt

Some additional details added to the head sculpt of AVA - Ex Machina - 1:12 scale. My 1:18 scale, 4.5" tall Furlag sculpt is complete. The head is a completly original sculpt. The figures body is also original and is sculpted over a custom created, articluated frame. I used Aves FIXIT for the sculpt and casted the head in plastic. Furlag has 14 points of articulation. Hand painted using Testors Polyscale (Floquil) acrylic paints. A very unique species in the Star Wars universe...

From Wookipedia - "Furlag was a small-time bounty hunter with large, batlike ears. Operating during the height of the Galactic Empire, he was not well-known, but often worked with other prominent bounty hunters, such as Zuckuss and 4-LOM. He, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM were subcontracted by fellow hunter Skorr on Ord Mantell during the early Galactic Civil War in the hunt for a group of prospective Rebels, then again later with 4-LOM and Zuckuss as well as several other bounty hunters including the Trandoshan Bossk to attempt to pry Han Solo's carbonite-encased body from Boba Fett."

Unfortunately Furlag underestimated Boba Fett and met his end being sucked through and open airlock shaft into deep space.

Paint progress on "The Beast" - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale.Close mouthed "lipped" version - Dome removed. Old bone when dry, is mostly white...living bone has a more aged white, richness to it. Wolf's head sculpt originates from the concept images from issue 1 of Legacy. - Wolf Sazen completed sculpt...well, almost. I need to tweek the armless sleeve. Wolf only has one arm, the other was taken by a Sith blade. Right now the upper part of the sleeve looks fine but the bottom part still looks a bot heavy/full. He will have an alternate head sculpt with his hair pinned back. I will be doing a second version of Wold with his new arm and flight suit.

Straying from the path he has sturggled to hold true, Dass Jennir arrives on Telerath. Unbeknownst to Jennir, his destiny with the living force is about to be revealed and his burdened conscience wiped clean....

Dass Jennir is a favorite character of mine from the Star Wars Dark Horse Expanded Universe.

My apologies for taking so long to complete this piece...as with all my work, I never center my full attention on just one project, always a bit at a time, tabling and returning to the subject when the inspiration hits.

This is a 1:18th scale figure - fully articulated with all the basic movements and can be posed in many postions like other factory made figures...mostly when his cowl is removed.

Both figures sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and painted using Floyquil Acrylics.

The first of two semi-static posed figures of the creature from the 1979 film, Alien. Hand sculpted, hand painted. This version depicts the beast as it would have appeared in several promotional test shots during pre-production, the air duct scene where Captain Dallas met his end as well as a deleted scene appearing within the corridor while Parker and Lambert were making their desperate escape.

Figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. Articulated neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable.

Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.
