Straying from the path he has sturggled to hold true, Dass Jennir arrives on Telerath. Unbeknownst to Jennir, his destiny with the living force is about to be revealed and his burdened conscience wiped clean....

Dass Jennir is a favorite character of mine from the Star Wars Dark Horse Expanded Universe.

My apologies for taking so long to complete this piece...as with all my work, I never center my full attention on just one project, always a bit at a time, tabling and returning to the subject when the inspiration hits.

This is a 1:18th scale figure - fully articulated with all the basic movements and can be posed in many postions like other factory made figures...mostly when his cowl is removed.

Both figures sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt and painted using Floyquil Acrylics.

Completed Jedi Master Luke Skywalker as seen in issue #3 of Star Wars Invasion by Dark Horse Comics. Luke is in command of Republic forces sent to the planet Rychel in order to repel the invading forces of the Yuuzhan Vong.

The figure was mostly sculpted in Aves Epoxy FIXIT sculpt using a plastic articulated armature. The forearms and hands have been recasted from original parts. The head originalted from a Legacy Snowspeeder Luke figure, casted in wax and completly retooled and refined adding additional markings to the face, age lines, a lower brow, hair and ears...I also strengthened the jaw. The figure measures 3.75" in height. Painted using Floyquil Acrylics by testors.

after a long day, the bathroom has walls again. I didn't get to spackling yet. I'm pooped. It's time for a shower and some dinner.

The first of two semi-static posed figures of the creature from the 1979 film, Alien. Hand sculpted, hand painted. This version depicts the beast as it would have appeared in several promotional test shots during pre-production, the air duct scene where Captain Dallas met his end as well as a deleted scene appearing within the corridor while Parker and Lambert were making their desperate escape.

Figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. Articulated neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable.

Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

From the Dark Horse comic series Knights of the Old Republic, written by John Jackson Miller, comes my completed Zayne Carrick as he appeared in part four of Commencement.

Big, heavy and well worn, Zayne's suit has been sculpted and painted to appears to be a mix of woven material, leather and a lightweight metal alloy which includes a working removable helmet and PlSS (Primary Life-Support Subsystem) backpack.

Sculpt progress on the Egg Layer Xenomorph. Aliens: Defiance (Dark Horse Comics). 1:18 scale.

Been a crazy couple weeks with the Holidays ramping up and office work to be completed...but things are slowly getting back to normal and I finally had some time to complete one of the hands to the Egglayer Xenomorph.

I haven't sculpted many hands so it's a fun challenge and allows me to accumulate some teachable moments through trial and error. What doesn't kill you will make you stronger right?

Elongated fingers are creepy so I may have slightly drifted from the comic reference material a tad but I think it will add to the finished figure. Sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, I have included a before and after shot for those interested, as well as a scale shot for the curious.

I will sculpt the second hand in the same dynamic fashion along with a neutral set of hands similar to the smaller Big Chap I did a few years back.

May be my last update for the new year? Not sure. Anyway, thank you all for your continued support! I hope to bring much more to the custom hobby next year. 2019 was a struggle to get things moving but I battled through it.

I hope all of you are enjoying holiday festivities and have a wonderful New Year 2020!!!!

Hope you enjoyed the update! Talk soon! More to come!!!

Fully cast corridor - work in progress. Alien - 1:18 scale

Sculpt progress on the Neomorph - 1:18 scale - Alien: Covenant. Completed the initial head sculpt of the beast - open mouth, attack. The next step will be to mold and cast successfully. At that point, I can take a couple quality casts and mod the sculpt to create the other two variants. Began work on the upper torso of the Neomorph - update coming soon.Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt from Aves Studio LLC.

Sculpt progress on the Space Jockey - 1:18 scale - ALIEN. Still working on the skull. Before beginning the lower jaw (since this is indeed a creature and NOT a suit....don't get me started), I will sculpt the collar for the head to attach to. First I'm aging/weathering the sculpt by using several engravers and sandpaper. Have some additiona work on the eye sockets, and a partial sculpt of the breating tube. Sculpt update on "the Beast" - Alien 79 rework of the creatures head sculpt.

Working on some updates to the skull, the maxilla's depth, the teeth and a new lower jaw. The teeth are all being sculpted similar to the fashion of the larger egg layer xenomorph I've posted updates to recently. The size of this piece is considerably smaller than the egg layer so rather than the teeth being sculpted separately, the entire set is a single piece. I have more work to do with the lower jaw, it's teeth along with details to the "lips" if you can call them that . I'm making molds of each of these small pieces as I go along. Very fragile and I don't want to have to sculpt these pieces over again if I can help it. I'm using Aves FIXIT sculpt so it has strength but even at this scale, it can break easily.

More to come - gotta take one project at a time as I slowly get back into a routine that's been off course now for almost a year. It's not been easy to do. Just need to get along with it.

Thanks for looking!

Completed the sculpt of the "control sticks" for each hand, "the interface" and detail along the back of the pilot's chair. I want to tackle the upper rear of the pilot chair before moving onto another project. Been a couple additional weeks than I planned to work on this piece but I'm "in the zone" so to speak and want to continue while not suffering a loss of interest. I'm doing this in my own time and not for a client so I have that luxury.

Crazy to think I look at this piece as becoming an "action figure accessory" or some part of a 1:18 scaled play set. It's where my mindset is...always has been since this ALIEN 79 project started. It just so happens that it's a sculpture study at the same time LOL!

I've taken care to be as accurate as possible to the Giger production version of the doomed pilot but I'm sure a few spots have emerged as "best interpretation" at this point. I'm not looking to be 100% spot on. I don't think anyone who has taken on this project has. I hope those of you who are die hard Space Jockey fans will be forgiving.

Sculpt progress on the hands of the Egg Layer Xenomorph from Aliens:Defiance (Dark Horse Comics) and the Newborn from Alien: Resurrection.

1:18 scale, work in progress. Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt- Aves Clay

Completed the sculpt to the Egg Layer's ambidextrous hand. I'm hoping once I make some plastic castings I can take a heat gun and reposition some of the fingers for slightly different poses. Always nice to have a variety of hands to switch out on a finished figure. Next step with this project are the upper legs. The sculpt for these are already in progress.

Close to finishing the left hand to the Newborn alien. Working on less mechanical detail and more skin folds and veining. Such detail will need to work itself up through the forearms which are also close to completion. Have one more hand to complete. I don't think many hand variants will come from this. Possible a slightly different with the hands "outreaching" but nothing more. Still struggling with the hip articulation and how I will build the sculpt to work with a ball/socket joint.

More to come! These images take time to shoot and usually steal a couple days from any sculpting I could be doing but I've always said that photography is part of the custom action figure hobby. You can make a masterpiece but if it isn't shot well, it's a waste of time and effort. Same goes with any sculpture or work of art. Gotta put your best foot forward.

Thanks for looking! Let me know if you have any questions!

Sculpt Update (IMAGES) on my 1:18 scaled Space Jockey - ALIENS 1979. Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt.

I've posted a video as well so please check that out. youtu.be/LL6moVvkzkI

I "dremeled" out a chasm to insert a separate sculpted piece of tubing that will be sculpted over to become a permanent fixture. I also carved out a portal to insert the "guard" that goes down the back of the chair, parallel to the interior tubing. Some adjustments need to be made and additional sculpting needs to be added but I'm very pleased with how it all fits.

One step closer to finishing the back of the chair!

Hope you enjoy the photos! Thanks again for all the comments and support! More updates coming!

Broken bike? Fix it on The Loop!

Posted: May 29, 2013 5:46 PM Updated: May 29, 2013 5:50 PM

By Christopher Francis

TUCSON (Tucson News Now) - Pima County's trail around the Rillito and Santa Cruz rivers just got more bike-friendly. Six new self-service repair stations are now in place on The Loop.

The Fixit repair stands come with tools people need to fix minor problems, including loose parts and flat tires. They're similar to the self-service bike repair stands available at the University of

Arizona and at several retail locations in Tucson.

Screwdrivers, Allen wrenches, and other tools for common bike repairs are attached to the stand using cables. On top of the stand is a place to hang a bike while making trailside adjustments. The pump has a gauge on top so the user can see the exact tire pressure and pump up tires to the appropriate levels. In addition, there's a QR code on the front of the stand so users can view detailed instructions on bike repair using a smart phone.

Additional stations will be added as The Loop continues to expand.
