"Edsel is an automobile marque that was planned, developed, and manufactured by the Ford Motor Company for model years 1958–1960. With the Edsel, Ford had expected to make significant inroads into the market share of both General Motors and Chrysler and close the gap between itself and GM in the domestic American automotive market. Ford invested heavily in a yearlong teaser campaign leading consumers to believe that the Edsel was the car of the future – an expectation it failed to meet. After it was unveiled to the public, it was considered to be unattractive, overpriced, and overhyped. The Edsel never gained popularity with contemporary American car buyers and sold poorly. The Ford Motor Company lost $250 million[3] on the Edsel's development, manufacturing, and marketing.

The very name "Edsel" became a popular symbol for a commercial failure." (Wiki)

Half a year ago, I created a very touching photo project for myself - The Lovers. The collection has received a lot of encouragement and support.

Let's see what is ahead for them, the winter lovers.

Expectación multitudinaria en la Cabalgata / Multitudinous expectation in the Cavalcade

I glance over at this field as I'm driving to the swimming pool early in the morning. I see amazing trees isolated in a frosty field, surrounded by mist. I finally found a place to stop. The reality was a little different, with an overgrown "hedge" and a 3' wide ditch, so the view across the fields wasn't accessible unless I clambered across. I suspect I'd have fallen in!

Just showed me that our eyes are very selective when they spy something along the side of the road, conveniently forgetting all the things in the way.

I've been thinking about the lag and the lack I'm feeling lately, and I had a moment of Artist's Under-Appreciation Syndrome. Not enough comments. Not the "right" comments.

And then I got over the entitlement and realized that's not really the problem.

The problem is the expectation of it. (That people will have something to say, that people SHOULD have something to say.)

So, I'm just gonna cut that off until I get over myself.

I'm thinking this'll last a week.

stop. look. listen. rinse. repeat

We act as we expect with results that are never sufficient enough. Getting lost in the struggle between expectancy and lived reality, we might feel like strangers in our world. A place which we never truly make but that instead makes us.

For spring to come...Yet, weather forecast is for severe winter conditions to prevail in the next few days; I wish I was there when snow covers everything...

I wish you a Merry Christmas everyone !

I have felt as though lately, I have been so excited and expecting my trip to Vancouver to be here (which I am going on in two weeks) that it has caused me to be distracted from the short time I have left at home.

When I get back to Michigan I will be immediately moving back to college, and I am going to miss dearly all of my friends back home. Up until this point, I looked at this as a negative thing, and it took my boyfriend to slap me up the side of my head (not literally haha) for me to realize that I need to just appreciate the opportunity I have been given to be such a positive influence on my campus and to truly make a difference in the lives of the people there. Being in a stressful environment can seriously wear you down, and I am extremely grateful that God allowed me to have this season in the summer to rest and find my passion again.

So I am going to explore the United States in two weeks, and after that embark on a journey that might not be as glamorous but will make a difference in many people’s lives which is all I can ask for.

I reckon of all the car wrecks I've stumbled across over the years, this was one of the most unexpected. A 1970s Japanese saloon car, that wasn't even that common when it was released.

So, another three weekends of Sunday engineers is upon us, as phase 1 of the resignalling of the coast draws ever closer to conclusion.

I knew of work at Flint, installing more bi-di crossovers. I knew nothing of replacing part of the down platform loop at Rhyl, mere yards from my doorstep. I'd lost all interest at Flint though, the 6Yxx headcodes meaning Freightliner, rather than Colas, were on the job. Ying ying ying.

A text at 0430 this morning alerted me to the presence of a train at Rhyl, and one daylight mooch later, this pair of crackers were hogging the viewfinder.

Made my day, that. Even if it has left me mildly insomnaic...

Plovdiv, old town - museum houses from 18-19 c.

There was no expectation to see and moving trains, but upon my arrival into Trout Lake, the local was starting to make a move out of town starting with this move turning the motor around by taking the swtich from the Manistique to Newberry Subdivision - the former Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic.
