Art is constant experimentation without expectation.
When creating, I consciously remind myself of this statement, because only once my mind is empty of goals, can I express thoughts genuinely through my art.
It's really easy to set out an entire vision for what you want to create but unless these ideals are held very loosely, it can be destructive to art.
I'm currently experimenting with bokeh and split toning (two primary colours) to express my current feelings for adventure.

My expectation was EDPO would arrive before the sunset but that didn't happen... the train had a few manifest cars but a whooping 90 Eimskip containers. Today also marked an announcement with Pan Am launching a new service from Ayer, MA to Saint John, NB to connect into the recent port developments. For today, 90 COFCs isn't a common sight, but who knows what may be coming our way in the coming days...

Having left early in the expectation of having the best weather for a misty sunrise after a rainy day. The last remaining clouds in the west reduced the light, just in time I swiveled from panoramas that I had in mind to macros. Half hidden behind the blade of grass, the sun hides forth, while in the dew-drenched blossom an insect still slumbers.
Blume & Sonnenaufgang
It’s time for a recap!!! Well I’m gonna be blunt. This event didn’t really live up to my expectation compared to last year’s oh-so-amazing Gloss Convention. I know Integrity Toys tried their hardest to pull out a great event and for a 20th Anniversary celebration we, the attendees, expected so much more. Although there were some disappointments, we did have a lot of fun. I’m personally glad to see friends that I’ve met last year and I’m happy to meet new ones. I’m happy to see the designers and see familiar faces again. We have a huge haul, everyone’s full, and everyone’s happy. That’s all that matters. The moment the Convention theme was announced, I knew this wasn’t gonna be for me. But looking at all of them together, we do have a spectacular collection here. So let’s start with Fashion Royalty!
Reigning Grace Eugenia 2015 Cinematic Convention Upgrade Doll - The moment her promo pics were revealed, I started to get worried. Based on the fact that she has an older face screening previously used for Diamond Society Eugenia I knew that some of them will have old screening as well. She turned out to be stunning, but I don’t know how long I’m going to keep her. We have a mostly black & white collection here with a sprinkle of red. Have you noticed?
Feminine Perspective Agnes Mini-Gift Set - I’ve kind of predicted what fashions she’s going to have in this gift-set. I did think about a lingerie set but I didn’t really think about a tuxedo and a top hat. I’m definitely all about that tuxedo! It’s a well thought out set, but again, it all boils down to whether I like the face up or not. I love the hair color and the lips which somehow reminds me of that one-of-a-kind DIFFA charity auction Maggie Rizer doll. But I’m not a fan of the older screening which I think is The Royal Weiss Agnes face design that they’ve used for her. I’m not sure if it’s exactly the same but what I do know is that they made adjustments to the screening based on comparison. She’s very lovely in hand but at this point in my ever growing collection I have to be selective of who goes and who stays. If she had Poesie Enchantee/Regal Estate face screening I would be all over her but that’s not the case.
Idol Worship Kyori IT Direct Sales Room Exclusive - What a lovely doll! But black hair and red lips again? Why? I really think she would look gorgeous with a lip color that matches the nude color of her dress and I would get her in a heartbeat! Can we please change her up? Again, it’s Kyori’s slow evolution. No drastic change here from the last Convention. Can we darken her skin tone a little bit with ash blonde hair and neutral make-up palette? Come on IT! I know you can do it. Just don’t give her the Hungarian skin tone and everything will be fine. That hair is gorgeous though. I would still love to have her, I just run out of shopping money.
Star Power Vanessa - Beautiful! As always. But another blonde Vanessa with red lips? I guess in reference to the movie Gentlemen Prefers Blondes they decided to go with that color palette again. A stereotypical Marilyn Monroe look basically. It actually didn’t matter to me. I love her face screening, I love her hair but I’m not sure if I like her dress and cape yet.
Inner Spark Natalia - If you have noticed, the dolls with older face sculpts gets an older face screening used from 7 or so years ago while dolls with newer face sculpts gets new(er) face screening. I love everything about this doll. The make-up palette is to-die-for! But I’m not a fan of the Hot Property eyes. If she had the Heat Seeker/Pewter/Power Game eyes I’d be getting her at the sales room in an instant. It's such a shame.
Stage Presence Veronique W Club Luncheon Exclusive Centerpiece - If this was the Main Convention Souvenir doll I’d be ecstatic but I think the reason why she is not is because this is not the Fashion Royalty Anniversary. This is the Integrity Toys Anniversary! It could be anyone really. This Veronique is so gorgeous and they used the Haute Societe/Sweet Smell of Success face screening again which is a favorite of mine. While I’m tired of the blonde hair and red lips, this Vero turned out to be perfection. Royal Treatment who??? If only I had extra dollars to spend I would have bought her… Wish me luck at the lottery. I’m entering if I have the money for sure.
Time and Again Adele Official Table Centerpiece - Well time and again I am underwhelmed. I don’t love Adele as much as I used too. I’m not mad at the styling. I love the Jackie O kind of look for her but again, it’s all about the face. She’s just a different character for me all together. Adele has left the building! I’m dying to have her refreshed again to look like her old self or just have her revert back to 2.0 that would be great.
Starlet Elyse Official Table Centerpiece - To me she’s the Main Convention doll. She saved the entire convention from sinking! The make-up palette is very refreshing! She’s definitely glowing! That dress is very interesting too with the pockets and the sheer skirt but that hair is huge! That hive is waaay too tall! I’m definitely restyling her and hopefully she has long hair under there.
In a New Year of promise and expectation we have the old reliable Robert French of Lawrence Photography to start us off. Here is Lynch's Castle, Shop Street in Galway on what must have been a quiet day. Today, even early in the morning this street seems to hum with life, those up early, those going home late, those that have little to do but stand around and, inevitably, the music and life of the city!
To all a Happy New Year from all at Library Towers and the Three Marys!

Expectation mounts as if wondering how it will approach such a glorious feed of pollen and nectar.

Blossoming fortysomething redhead Jeannette throwing a confident yet dreamy look of expectation somewhere in Bosch en Vaart, Haarlem, The Netherlands.
The gorgeous colour in the sky was yet to bloom. I took this shot with little expectation, but the cold, blue tones in the sky & ice work so well with the black beach. Large aperture required to get the right amount of motion in the water.

The level of expectation at Broadoak Level Crossing, on the line between Wrexham and Chester, for a good exhaust was low as trains working towards Chester are descending the 1-in-82 of Gesford Bank as far as Rossett, then easing out for the final few miles through Pulford and Balderston onto mainly level track. Our fears were confirmed when No. 6233 'Duchess of Sutherland', heading the Railway Touring Company's 'Great Britain XII', 1Z86 1545 Shrewsbury - Preston, came into view with just the distinctive 'white feather' drifting from its safety valve, but then the driver applied the regulator and the locomotive opened up on the approach to Broadoak Level Crossing, just south of Pulford. Later inspection of the gradient profile reveals a spike for roughly one mile at 1-in-360. The choice of Broadoak had not been planned, just a last minute 'take it or leave it' location.
