Teledyne Big Beam Illuminate Exit Sign. $2.00 at a Chicago estate sale. Item is brand new in box. All steel construction with glass lens. Weight 7 pounds. Made in USA, Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Old Exit 6 has a nicked-up sign on the Sawgrass Expressway (Atlantic Boulevard); have no fear, it will be replaced soon enough when everything gets re-numbered in a decade or so. Photo taken from the end of Southgate Boulevard in May of 1992, using my Canon AE-1, its 135mm lens, and some sort of Fuji film.

Could be a long way to go with a hoard of Zombie's chasing, the door better be open.

I think I have been watching a little too much Walking Dead. I was in the hardware store the other day and I saw a nice hatchet. My first thought was, "wow! that is a nice hatchet, I bet this would come in handy in a Zombie Apocalypse."

Have you ever gone into a parking structure and had a hard time finding your way out? Sure, we usually forget where we parked the car, but at a glance we always look for those exit signs to guide us in the right direction. Most people don't even realize how important these signs are. We see them and follow the paths they mark for us so naturally, we barely know we're doing it.

Here's a cast aluminum exit sign, wired up and mounted, on a steel pipe that hangs low enough for the public to see.

And here's a tip for that lost car: before you walk away, take out your phone & snap a pic of the parking spot number or the parking level or something that will give you a point of reference for later. You may save yourself a lot of time looking for your vehicle.

And for signs like this, please visit our list of cast aluminum exit signs here:

The Skyview Drive-In has light-up Exit signs along its wall so people can easily find their way out in the dark and potentially without their headlights on. Some of them don't have the 'Exit' sign part in there anymore, but still have their lights lit up.

A bit surreal -- even if it does look artificial.

What we're looking at here is a green LED thermoplastic exit sign with the right chevron knocked out. On the bottom of the sign you'll see the red indicator showing the battery backup inside the sign is charged and ready to go in case of a power outage...!

My family and I laughingly call it "the hospital" haha. Also my family and I laughingly make phony orgasm vocalisations anytime we see the "Oh! Oh! Oh!" Ohio Lottery ads haha. But I'd be too shy to take a picture of this when it's open.

This old Dairy Queen exit sign is at the location in Ludlow that is combined with a 76 filling station. While I accessed it from Interstate 40 as this day of my trip was all about putting miles behind me, this does sit on the old National Trails Highway/old U.S. Route 66. While the retro signage here looks inviting, the 76/Dairy Queen is very modern. I would also not recommend eating here as it is definitely not up to Dairy Queen standards.
