that was on a bumper sticker on a car in front of us on the ferry ride over; certainly proved true when I came across this piece of outdoor art/exhibit of old exercise equipment lining along the Sound.

Yeah, it was the day Michael Jackson died.

So over a year ago.

Anyways...

I haven't been able to do a shoot in like forever.

I went up the lift, and used the stairs to go down. Some lifts only went as high as the 4th floor (one from the 7th only went down to the 4th).

With over 14,000 square feet of top of the line equipment, including all brand new treadmills, the hardest part about selling a membership is getting people to believe they’re not lying! They offer unlimited parking, the largest selection of group exercise classes and even have their very own boxing room! Two separate parking lots will ensure that parking in NEVER a problem…oh yeah, and still only $19.99 a month!

An exercise bike "parked" outside of the BGSU Student Union. I noticed this on May 9th, 2006. I found it amusing, mainly because you don't see something like this that often.

Perfect timing for the cyclist to come along when I was shooting this. :)

Leslie and I have actually been using that YMCA membership I'm now paying seventy bucks a month for!

This was taken while I was up on the upper level walking around in circles on the track and she was down there on one of the treadmills (she's reading a book right behind the guy in the bright-ass green shirt). I much prefer walking around the track to walking on the treadmills. I can look at the interesting things going on in the YMCA, plus the movement causes a nice breeze. I do go down and use some of the strength training machines, though.

South Kona Physical Therapy 10th Anniversary

It has become a tradition in our house that Mom dusts off the exercise bike, and insists she will cycle every day - she hasn't started yet! :)

A super team of BBC Radio presenters, headed up by Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw and Radio 2’s Jo Whiley, will be pushing themselves to the limit as they attempt to run, swim and cycle 25,000 miles - the circumference of the world.

Kicking off the challenge – BBC Radio Around the World for Sport Relief – on Monday 17th March, Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw will take on a tough 12 hour cycle in a large, transparent box outside the iconic BBC Broadcasting House, all in a bid to rack up 1,000 miles towards the 25,000 total. Nick’s leg of the challenge starts in his Breakfast Show at 7am and finishes in Greg James’ Drive Time Show at 7pm the same day.

Radio 2’s Jo Whiley will take on an even more brutal assignment of her own, and attempt to run for a full 26 hours in the Perspex box. She will start her arduous treadmill mission at 8pm on Wednesday 19th March while presenting her Radio 2 show, and finish at 10pm at the end of her show the next day – having run through the night.

Through the spare bedroom door, as I'd pass by,

My workout kit, neglected, forlorn, did lie,

Bereft of purpose, it silently cried,

A plea unspoken, but impossible to hide.

"Hey you," it whispered, with a scornful plea,

"Why leave us here, untouched, so carelessly?

Days go by, unused, we feel abused,

Longing for movement, our purpose confused."

"Get changed, climb on, and start peddling, you sloth,

Cease this idleness, regain your lost growth!"

Their words, a gentle nudge, pierced my soul,

A reminder of my guilt, taking its toll.

I hurry on and bid them farewell with a sigh,

Consumed by guilt, as I say my goodbye,

"It hurts my bum," I mutter, filled with dismay,

Perhaps another day, I guiltily say.

Every person with a table job is aware of however sitting still all day will have a negative result on them physically.

ASHEBORO NC: NC ZOO: OK, so the story goes like this. At the NC Zoo there are two entrance pavillions located at either end of the exhibition section of the park. Connected by a serpentine and undulating asphalt path that winds through the forest past every animal containment area, snack bar, water fountain, and restroom the visitor is afforded a great ambience to enjoy while paying homage to our state's 4-legged, 2-legged, zillion-legged, and 0-legged guests from the far reaches of the planet. Stated in many fewer words: This joint is a REAL trip.

Alright, so the asphalt path is not hideously long, but on those hot, steamy, and buggy days in late spring the trek does lose a bit of its intended appeal. And, there are those moments when one fears there will not be yet another ice cream stand around the next curve to help carry us to the distant pavillion.

So, what does the State of North Carolina do to resolve this dilemma? Does it provide a swimming pool or walk-in refrigerators?

Not on your life. It gives us weakened, waddling warriors exercise bikes . . . at the top of a hill. What's up with this?

I'll tell you what. It's just another example of the State's push towards implementing more forms of CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT.

All kidding aside, the NC State ZOO is well worth your time and energy. Pile your family, friends, neighbors, and relatives into your Morris Minor and take them to the Zoo. If y'all make it in one piece you will have the time of your life.
