Visual axes are the big thing in Potsdam's gardens and parks. You can discover them everywhere. Here it is the view from the Victory Column in the Park Babelsberg to the Pfingstberg and the Belvedere Palace built there, which can be recognized by the two spires. With this view, you can enjoy a romantic after-work beer.

Today, Monday's floral greeting is a little more hidden. There are no trees in full bloom today, nor are there any large-scale flowers. Instead, there are countless small white (wood sorrel) and blue (wood violet) blossoms scattered across this clearing in the Black Forest.

And although they seem so small and inconspicuous from a distance, they are nevertheless beautiful and transform this place into a fairytale forest.

In life, too, we sometimes find it difficult to recognize the beautiful things that are far too often overshadowed by the stress or chaos of daily life. Problems and difficulties are simply much easier to recognize.

But, as is so often the case, it's a question of inner attitude and thus where we direct our attention.

If we consciously seek out these small miracles of everyday life, we will be able to discover them even in the greatest chaos. Be it in nature, in a person we meet or in ourselves. Unfortunately, what we hear and see in the news every day is not particularly conducive to this. To do this, we have to go out and really look (or listen).

And so, this week, I wish you an eye and a heart for the little miracles around you, and that you will discover many of them.

It's much easier for me at this point. Because I have you.

Respekt!

Greetings to the photographer. I always enjoy friendly commumication with the train staff. Some of them are not interested or maybe just focused on their demanding job. But when it occurs it leaves good vibes.

Of course, it is exciting to discover rare plants or mushrooms and document this photographically. However, you can also present a banal plant that can be found thousands of times in our meadows in an appealing way. I tried this with the red clover pictured here. I arranged the leaf organs and flower as an ascending diagonal and the colors form a clear complementary contrast.

Thanks for your visit and comments, my Flickr friends. I hope you're all staying safe and healthy):

.

During my long photo walks along the seemingly endless beaches, I keep an eye out for flora and fauna alongside the beautiful scenery. And there is so much to discover! These sponge-like, feather-light structures used to be a mystery to me. Thanks to Google Image Search, however, questions like this are easily answered nowadays. They are the egg capsules of *Buccinum undatum*—the common whelk—shown here on the left.

MEXICO, San Juan Chamula

The Chamula people have a very distinct culture. Most visibly, their religion, though considered Catholicism, is a blend of Christianity and Mayan traditions. Their main place of worship is the church of San Juan Chamula. If you get to know Chamulas a little more you might also witness some baffling features in their everyday life and value system: they have taken law into their own hands and sometimes use force to bring people to justice. At the same time you may find families who see children foremost as an economic burden or people who are willing to sell their children like some commodity not showing any emotional connection towards their children as they are making an offer to do so.

Pale blue waves in the pavement imitate Rhine waves on rainy days.

Please imagine that you are walking along the Rhine promenade. Yes - despite the current rainy weather, you don't look at the water, but at your feet... and you will see waves on the way in front of you, light blue Rhine waves.

It is the work of the Swiss architect Niklaus Fritschi.

Provided the weather conditions are right, slime molds can be found all year round. I also discovered this Metatrichia fructification at an unusual time, in the middle of winter. However, temperatures have been well above freezing for several days. Since I couldn't find an attractive group formation, I decided to stage a single fruiting body with a 60mm macro plus intermediate rings, plus Raynox 250.

500 Euro in 100 Euro Banknoten / 100 Euro Banknotes - Oberösterreich / Upper Austria - Österreich / Austria

Gemünd is a small village in the Eifel region of western Germany with around 3800 inhabitants. The first mention of the city dates back to 1213. Tourism in the area began at the turn of the 19th century as the "Eifelverein" was founded and the entire area was given the status of a nature reserve. Unfortunately like many old towns in Germany, Gemünd was also largely destroyed during the Second World War. Even though the region recovered very well in the following years, a second tragedy befell the village in 2021 during the large floods in western Germany, which left the area in ruins again. At the moment work is being done to restore the village to its former glory. Viewing it from the mountain road coming down into the valley lets one view the village beautifully, as most of the damage was done to the lower stories of the buildings.

A trip to Vienna

All those who cannot take a holiday may follow me on a tour through Vienna. Past the famous sights, but perhaps you will also discover sights worth seeing off the beaten track …

The Post savings bank on Georg-Coch Platz in the 1st district is a Art Nouveau building built by Otto Wagner between 1904 and 1906. The façade is covered with square marble panels and aluminium applications, which are supposed to remind of a money bin.

In the foreground, the monument of the founder of the Postal Savings Bank, Dr. Georg Coch, after whom the square is named. The Austrian sculptor Othmar Schimkowitz created the two Art Nouveau angels, which are attached to the roof on both sides.
