(Translated with Deepl)

I waited for a good two hours to discover the tiny water rail chicks.

Just before I was about to leave the spot again, two chicks moved with their mother to the other side of the moor. Unfortunately they were quite far away.

My photo friend Lele www.flickr.com/photos/lele-hh/, who found her way to the bog a little later, could take pictures from a closer distance after I had already left.

Picturesquely surrounded by two arms of the Havel, Friendship Island lies in the middle of Potsdam. It became famous through the show and teaching gardens created by Karl Foerster in 1937 with more than a thousand different perennials and over 250 varieties of iris in the water garden. Here you can not only enjoy nature and the garden on a walk, but there are also numerous sculptures to discover. Not to forget the island café and the large playground where you can spend the day as a family. Friendhip Island is a small paradise among the green spaces of Potsdam.

I was not able to ask every person depicted in my photographs for their consent to publication. If someone is discovered and does not agree, please let me know. I will then of course remove the picture in question.

It was a Fly agaric that started my photomania :-) Yesterday it was five years ago when I spotted my very first one and I was so thrilled that I had to take a photo with my new cellphone - that was quite a bad photo but I loved it ;-)

Now I was happy to be out in the right weather and find some of them again :-)))

Seen in the nature-sanctuary Steinhuder Meer - Niedersachsen - Germany.

This picture of the blue wonder bridge in Dresden at night has been smiling at me for a few weeks now and is waiting to be published. But the right moment for it simply hadn't come yet. (How long can you tell from the fact that the Christmas decorations can be seen in the picture) However, I think it suits my day very well.

I have always indicated from time to time, that I was starting a new phase in my life.

Today is a crucial step on this path, because today I am moving from our house in Radeberg (which is now her house) to a small apartment in Sebnitz alone.

Of course I won't tear down the bridge that takes me over the river. After all, it connects me to the most important person in my life, my daughter Lilly. And it will always stay that way.

And even though I only have a very vague idea of what my path will be like on the other side of the river, I feel significantly more curiosity than fear.

After all, the world is big and there is still a lot to discover. And I'll start with Sebnitz and the surrounding area next week.

Even in autumn you can still discover flowering fields. On 02 October 2021, I noticed a yellow sea of flowers near Wernstein, which, contrary to popular belief, was not rape but mustard. The red Taurus 1016.032 with an eastbound intermodal train provided the appropriate setting for a picture.

Some promotion for the Eifel:

The new Ulmen Maar tunnel connects the Jungferweiher (a natural pond) with the Ulmener Maar (a volcanic lake) and allows guests to experience thousands of years of earth's history up close. The Maar tunnel can be imagined as a cave-like cross-section through a volcano. The walk through the approx. 120 meter long, narrow tunnel is a real experience, especially for little visitors. The effective lighting creates a mysterious atmosphere. The walls of the tunnel allow visitors to delve deeply into the history of the earth: if you look closely, you can discover the numerous different sediment layers that testify to the region's volcanic past; or the glittering rock remains that come from Lake Laach. From a geological perspective, the Ulmen Tunnel is a true treasure.

Anyone who enters the tunnel on the Jungferweiher side is immediately amazed: artistic graffiti adorns the entrance and illustrates the formation of the maars. Here, ice-cold water meets glowing red magma, cold meets heat, and erupts in a gigantic explosion.

(Source: www.eifel.info/a-ulmener-maar-stollen )

A flat beach is a good place to photograph birds in flight. You often get the opportunity to spot the bird in time as it approaches or flies past, and you can capture it easily even with the autofocus of a DSLR.

Gstadt-Gollenshausen is located directly opposite the Fraueninsel on the banks of Lake Chiemsee and includes the two districts of Gstadt and Gollenshausen as well as another 13 small hamlets and wastelands.

The first tourists were pilgrims (since around 1168), because the location has always offered convenient "towns" for a short crossing to the Fraueninsel. The destination was the Frauenwörth monastery from the 8th century with the highly revered first abbess and patron saint Irmengard. Today's guests make a "pilgrimage" to Gstadt to also visit the island and the small, attractive "Hofanger" nature park with its medicinal plant garden. The beautiful view of the expanse of the lake, the Chiemsee islands with the steamers passing by, and the Alpine chain, which has been painted, photographed and described countless times, can be seen from the "Ganszipfel" observation tower.

A trip to Vienna

All those who cannot take a holiday may follow me on a tour through Vienna. Past the famous sights, but perhaps you will also discover sights worth seeing off the beaten track …

The Vienna Town Hall in the city centre was built from 1872 to 1883 in the neo-Gothic style. It houses the offices of the Mayor of Vienna, who is also the Governor of Vienna. At the top of the main tower you can see the 5.4-metre-high Rathausmann ('Town-hall man', bottom left), made of copper. On the building there are numerous other figures, armour bearers, shield bearers, emperors and kings, representations of middle-class professions (such as carpenter, tailor, goldsmith, shoemaker, merchant...) and allegorical figures (such as wisdom, justice, strength, loyalty...). In front of the building are the Rathausplatz ('Town Hall Square') and the Rathauspark ('Town Hall Park', top left).

English: The open-air museum "Mühlendorf" in Reichenthal is located in the Hayrl district, below Waldenfels Castle. Covering an area of approximately 5,000 m², it features various thematic exhibitions, including an extensive glass collection, a functioning house mill, a traditional bread-baking house, and a historic blacksmith workshop. Visitors can explore the journey from grain to bread, discover old craftsmanship, and admire a collection of mechanical clocks. Was meint ihr?

Baden-Württemberg, the region I visited last week, naturally has more to offer than just impressive palaces and castles. So much more.

Here you'll also find beautiful landscapes such as the Swabian Jura and the world-famous Black Forest (which has much more to offer than just cakes and cuckoo clocks).

And you can also discover numerous waterfalls here.

Among them is this one, the Triberg Waterfall, which, with a total drop of 163 meters (in 7 stages), is one of the highest in Germany. Since there was comparatively little water flowing during my visit and only the lower part of the falls is visible in the photo, it looks less spectacular than it actually is. Nevertheless, it is probably the most visited waterfall in Germany (which is unfortunately noticeable when you get there).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blarney Castle is located northeast of Cork City. The main tower of the medieval castle is still standing (top right and centre right pictures). It also includes the famous Blarney Stone, which will get its own collage from me. There was a lot to discover in the gardens, such as various sculptures, the Poison Garden, the Druid Circle, the Witch's Cave, the Wishing Steps and much more.
Das "fotografische Auge" des 14-jährige Ralf war dem des 54-jährigen bereits sehr ähnlich.
Als ich diese Bild am Frankfurter kaiserplatz kürzlich gemacht, dann zuhause betrachtet hatte und mit einem aus dem Jahr 1985 verglich durfte ich überrascht dieses erstaunliche Übereinstimmung der Perspektive entdecken 😁.
.
The "photographic eye" of 14-year-old Ralf was already very similar to that of the 54-year-old.
When I recently took this picture at Frankfurt's Kaiserplatz, then looked at it at home and compared it with one from 1985, I was surprised to discover this amazing similarity in perspective 😁.
.
.
Please darken your room and
turn the brightness of your display all the way up,
lay back, press L button and
enjoy this picture in full screen size ;-)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . looks muuuch better. PROMISE !
.
Thanks for your visit, 1000 thanks for commenting
Thanks for watching the picture before FAVing 😉
Just about an hour from Bangkok lies the city of Ayutthaya. Once the capital of the Kingdom of Siam, it was one of the largest urban and cosmopolitan centers in the world from the 14th to the 18th century until it was unfortunately completely destroyed by the Burmese in 1776 and never rebuilt.
Due to its significant history and the numerous temple complexes that can be visited here as witnesses to this era (unfortunately, in ruins), the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.
In the ruins of the impressive temple "Wat Mahathat," you can find a tree whose roots have grown around a Buddha sculpture, creating this special work of art, which you can see up close here.
I'll stay here tomorrow. I'll see what other interesting things I can discover.
Nur ca. eine Stunde von Bangkok entfernt liegt die Stadt Ayutthaya. Einst die Hauptstadt des Königreiches von Siam war sie vom 14. bis zum 18. Jahrhundert eines der größten urbanen und kosmopolitischen Zentren der Welt, bis sie leider 1776 von den Burmesen vollkommen zerstört und nie wieder aufgebaut wurde.
Auf Grund seiner bedeutenden Geschichte und der zahlreichen Tempelanlagen die hier als Zeitzeugen zu besichtigen sind (leider als Ruinen), wurde die Stadt 1991 zum UNESCO Weltkulturerbe ernannt.
In den Ruinen des beeindruckenden Tempel "Wat Mahathat" findet man einen Baum, dessen Wurzeln um eine Buddha Skulptur gewachsen sind und damit dieses besondere Kunstwerk erschaffen haben, welches Ihr hier aus der Nähe sehen könnt.
Ich werde den morgigen Tag hier noch verweilen. Mal sehen, was ich noch so interessantes entdecken kann.
As someone who rarely shares smartphone photos on social media, I couldn't resist sharing this snapshot of Madeira's landscape. In this enchanting scene, a quaint village nestles within a verdant valley, like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. To the left, the sea stretches out towards the horizon, its waters shimmering like a vast, azure mirror.
In the foreground, an ancient stone staircase meanders its way down, inviting you to embark on a journey into this picturesque haven. The lush, green mountains stand proudly in the background, their slopes adorned with the vibrant hues of Madeira's unique flora. This island paradise is a harmonious fusion of natural beauty and human ingenuity, a testament to the resilience of life in even the most remote corners of our world.
I hope this photo brings you as much joy as it does to me, and that it inspires you to explore the hidden wonders that this beautiful planet has to offer.
Als jemand, der nur selten Smartphone-Fotos in den sozialen Medien teilt, konnte ich nicht widerstehen, diesen Schnappschuss von Madeiras Landschaft zu teilen. In dieser bezaubernden Szene schmiegt sich ein malerisches Dorf in ein grünes Tal, wie ein verstecktes Juwel, das darauf wartet, entdeckt zu werden. Auf der linken Seite erstreckt sich das Meer bis zum Horizont, dessen Wasser wie ein großer, azurblauer Spiegel schimmert.
Im Vordergrund schlängelt sich eine alte Steintreppe nach unten und lädt zu einer Reise in dieses malerische Paradies ein. Im Hintergrund erheben sich stolz die üppigen, grünen Berge, deren Hänge mit den leuchtenden Farben der einzigartigen Flora Madeiras geschmückt sind. Dieses Inselparadies ist eine harmonische Verschmelzung von natürlicher Schönheit und menschlichem Einfallsreichtum, ein Beweis für die Widerstandsfähigkeit des Lebens auch in den entlegensten Winkeln unserer Welt.
Ich hoffe, dass dieses Foto Dir genauso viel Freude bereitet wie mir, und dass es Dich dazu inspiriert, die verborgenen Wunder zu entdecken, die dieser wunderschöne Planet zu bieten hat.
Das berühmte Hotel Sacher im 1. Bezirk ist eines der weltweit besten Luxushotels der Welt. Vermutlich jedermann bekannt ist die "Original Sacher-Torte", von der jährlich etwa 360.00 Stück exportiert werden. Die Sachertorte ist eine Schokoladentorte mit Marillenmarmelade und Schokoladenglasur. Das Rezept der "Original Sacher-Torte" ist ein streng gehütetes Geheimnis. Die Bezeichnung 'Sachertorte' ist kein geschütztes Warenzeichen und es gibt verschiedene Rezepte davon. Die Torte in meiner Collage ist keine "Original Sacher-Torte".
A trip to Vienna
All those who cannot take a holiday may follow me on a tour through Vienna. Past the famous sights, but perhaps you will also discover sights worth seeing off the beaten track …
The famous Hotel Sacher in the 1st district is one of the world's best luxury hotels. Probably everyone knows the "Original Sacher cake", of which about 360,00 pieces are exported every year. The Sacher cake is a chocolate cake with apricot jam and chocolate icing. The recipe of the "Original Sacher cake" is a closely guarded secret. The name 'Sachertorte' ('Sacher cake') is no protected trademark and there are various recipes of it. The cake in my collage isn't an "Original Sacher cake".
Auch im Winter kann man Schleimpilze entdecken, sofern die Temperatur nicht unter 5-7 °C absinkt. Bei den hier abgebildeten Exemplaren könnte es sich um Hemitrichia handeln. Zwischen den einzelnen Fruktifikationen ist ein wirres Fadengeflecht erkennbar. Deshalb der Titel "gestörte Verbindung".
Slime molds can also be found in winter, as long as the temperature doesn't drop below 5-7 °C. The specimens pictured here could be Hemitrichia. A tangled web of threads can be seen between the individual fruitings. Hence the title "disturbed connection."
Am 06. April 2025 waren in der Oberpfalz noch recht wenig Spuren des Frühlings zu entdecken. So brachte der bunte Containerzug DGS 41137 von Hamburg Waltershof nach Budapest Soroksar, geführt von der 193 536 von boxXpress, etwas Farbe ins Motiv. Der Zug wird in wenigen Augenblicken Parsdorf erreichen.
On 6 April 2025, there were still very few traces of spring to be seen in the Upper Palatinate. The colourful container train DGS 41137 from Hamburg Waltershof to Budapest Soroksar, led by 193 536 from boxXpress, brought some colour to the scene. The train will reach Parsdorf in a few moments.
Die Eichwerder Moorwiesen sind ein Moor, das sich im Norden Berlins beidseits der Grenze zwischen Brandenburg und Berlin erstreckt. Früher haben im Tegeler Fließtal Enziane und Orchideen geblüht. Von der reichen Moorvegetation zeugen heute leider nur noch wenige Arten – aber immerhin kann man heute zum Beispiel Sumpfbaldrian oder Schlangen--knöterich entdecken. Dies ist einer gemeinsamen Aktion vom Natur-schutz-fonds Brandenburg un dem Naturpark Barnim zu verdanken, die gemeinsam diesen seltenen Lebensraum an der Grenze von Berlin und Brandenburg renaturierte, sodass sich die Eichwerder Moorwiesen immer mehr erholen. Denn in der Vergangenheit waren die Wiesen für die Viehzucht trockengelegt worden. Jetzt wird das Moor wieder vernässt, sodass auch die typische Moorvegetation langsam zurückkehrt und die nicht in ein Moor gehörenden Bäume, die auf den trockenen Wiesen gewachsen waren, absterben.
(leicht ergänzt)
The Eichwerder Moor Meadows are a moor that extends in the north of Berlin near Lübars on both sides of the border between Brandenburg and Berlin. In the past, gentians and orchids flourished in the Tegel Brook Valley. Today, unfortunately, only a few species bear witness to the rich bog vegetation - but at least you can discover marsh valerian or bistort, for example. This is thanks to a joint project by the Brandenburg Nature Conservation Fund and the Barnim Nature Park, which together renaturalised this rare habitat on the border between Berlin and Brandenburg, so that the Eichwerder moor meadows are recovering more and more. In the past, the meadows had been drained for cattle breeding. Now the moor is being wetted again, so that the typical moorland vegetation is slowly returning and the trees that did not belong in a moor, which had grown on the dry meadows, are dying.
Ein Ausflug nach Wien
Alle, die keinen Urlaub machen können, mögen mich auf einer Runde durch Wien begleiten. Vorbei an den berühmten Sehenswürdigkeiten, aber vielleicht auch abseits Sehenswertes entdecken ...
Vor dem Kunstmuseum, der Albertina befindet sich ein BitzingerWürstelstand. Am Dach ist Albrecht Dürers berühmter Hase zu sehen. Sehr passend, da sich das Original in der Albertina befindet ! Die Würstel haben auch sehr gut geschmeckt.😋
A trip to Vienna
All those who cannot take a holiday may follow me on a tour through Vienna. Past the famous sights, but perhaps you will also discover sights worth seeing off the beaten track …
In front of the Albertina art museum is a Bitzinger sausage stand. Albrecht Dürer's famous hare can be seen on the roof. Very fitting, as the original is in the Albertina ! The sausages also tasted very good.😋
