Als am 25. März 1999 232 483 mit InterRegio 2353 nach Ausfahrt Horka auf der Fahrt von Berlin Zoolgischer Garten nach Görlitz Hbf am Abzweig Mückenhain. Damals war noch viel Flair der alten Eisenbahn rund um Horka zu entdecken.

On 25 March 1999, 232 483 with InterRegio 2353 departed Horka on the way from Berlin Zoolgischer Garten to Görlitz Hbf at the Mückenhain junction. At that time, there was still a lot of flair to discover of the old railway around Horka.

Museo Delta Antico, Comacchio
Das neue Museum Delta Antico zeigt die Entwicklung des Gebiets und die menschlichen Siedlungen, die die Geschichte der antiken Po-Mündung gekennzeichnet haben.
Das Museum ist in Abteilungen zu den verschiedenen historischen Zeiträumen aufgeteilt: von den ersten Spuren der Zivilisation bis zum Altertum. Von besonderer Bedeutung ist die der etruskischen Stadt Spina gewidmete Abteilung, mit Gegenständen aus der Ortschaft und den kostbaren Grabausstattungen.
Außerdem wurde die kostbare Fracht des römischen Schiffes Comacchios in das Museum überführt. Ein authentisches Pompeji des Meeres, aus den ersten Jahren des römischen Reichs (Ende 1. Jh. v. Chr.), das 1981 entdeckt wurde.
Vorher war das Museum das 'Ehemaliges Krankenhaus San Camillo', auf Wunsch des Legatenkardinals Francesco Carafa von den Architekten Antonio Foschini und Gaetano Gento im Renaissancestil entworfenes und zwischen 1778 und 1784 erbautes Krankenhaus, das bis 1970 in Betrieb war.

The restoration, carried out between 1997 and 2013, brought the internal volumes of the building back to their original structure, eliminating the fragmentation of its large spaces that had been built over time to meet the needs of the hospital and the subsequent temporary ones. building functions.
Today the original structure is again clearly legible, with its remarkable architectural values and its clear and rational layout. On the ground floor there were the services: the woodshed (with masonry vaults to contain possible fires), the laundry room, the cistern for rainwater, the stores for food supplies, the kitchen, equipped with two large fireplaces that also served to warm the sick rooms on the first floor, thanks to the ducts in the walls.
On the mezzanine floor were the apartments of the caretaker and the chaplain. On the first floor there were the rooms for the patients, divided into two separate wings, one for men and one for women. The areas for the sick were large, bright and well ventilated, according to an innovative and modern criterion. Then there were the rooms used as an infirmary, surgery, delivery room. From the women's wing you could watch mass in the oratory through two grated windows. The body at the back of the building was the doctor's home. In the courtyard there was the mortuary cell.

Ornans ist die Heimat des Malers Gustav Courbet. Die Kleinstadt liegt sehr idyllisch im Tal der Loue im französischen Jura. Man kann in der Region sehr schön wandern und es gibt viel zu entdecken. Courbet hat in seinen Bildern viele markante Plätze in der Region festgehalten, die man auch heute noch besuchen kann, zum Beispiel die Source de la Loue einige Kilometer flussaufwärts. Im Ort gibt es ein großes Museum, das Gustave Courbet gewidmet ist und zahlreiche Gemälde des Künstlers zeigt.
Ornans is the home of the painter Gustav Courbet. The small town is in an idyllic location in the Loue valley in the French Jura. The region is great for hiking and there is a lot to discover. Courbet captured many striking places in the region in his pictures that can still be visited today, for example the Source de la Loue a few kilometers upstream. There is a large museum in town dedicated to Gustave Courbet and showing numerous paintings by the artist.

A dent caused tension in a car's paint finish, resulting in a variety of cracking patterns.

Dieses Jahr ist ein gutes Schmetterlingsjahr! Nach zwei Jahren "Ebbe" eine große Anzahl im Juni und Juli in unserem Garten. Zusammengestellt sind Bilder von 10 verschiedenen Arten - das Tagpfauenauge war auch noch zu sehen und vor kurzem habe ich die Bilder vom Hummelschwärmer und vom Taubenschwänzchen gezeigt. Damit sind es 13 verschiedene, die ich entdecken konnte.
This year is a good year for butterflies! After two years of "low tide," we saw a large number in our garden in June and July. I've compiled photos of 10 different species – the Peacock butterfly was also seen, and I recently shared photos of the Bumblebee Hawk-moth and Hummingbird Hawk-moth. The largest accessible cross in the world. On a total of five viewing platforms you can turn around your own axis and enjoy the 360°panoramic view.
Das größte begehbare Kreuz der Welt. Auf insgesamt fünf Aussichtsplattformen kann man sich einmal um die eigene Achse drehen und den 360°-Panoramablick genießen.
Am 5. Dezember 1997 erreicht 219 054 mit einem RE den Bahnhof Arnsdorf. Damals nur als beiläufiger Schnappschuss vor dem Einsteigen entstanden, lohnt es sich doch mit 28 Jahren Abstand auf die zahlreichen recht nostalgischen Details wie die Bahnhofsuhr oder die viele Jahrzehnte alte Tafel "Ausgang nach dem Ort zur Fahrkartenausgaben und Bahnhofsgaststätte" zu entdecken. Seit 2008 ist das Bahnhofsgebäude abgerissen und der Bahnhof und ein Großteil der Bahnhofsanlagen wurde rückgebaut.

On 5 December 1997, 219 054 arrives at Arnsdorf station with an RE train. At the time, this was just a casual snapshot taken before boarding, but 28 years on it is worth discovering the numerous nostalgic details such as the station clock or the decades-old sign ‘Exit to the town for ticket offices and station restaurant’. The station building has been demolished since 2008 and the station and most of the station facilities have been dismantled.

Taken on my way home from Dresden. Of course I was not the car driver. It rained very much, and all the water on the road was changed into golden vails by the setting sun. A really stunning view. :-)

The view from Castle Auerbach over Rheingraben, which was flooded by fog.
This day all conditions were perfect: there was no traffic, so I could reach the castle on time, the height of the fog was optimal and there was an even in the castle so it was opened longer as usual. All this gave me the possibility to make a lot of great photos of sunset and of the area around the castle.

Der Blick vom Schloss Auerbach auf den Rheingraben, der vom Nebel geflutet wurde.
An diesem Tag passte so ziemlich alles: es gab fast kein Verkehr, so ich konnte die Stelle rechtzeitig erreichen, die Höhe des Nebels war perfekt und es gab ein Event in dem Schloss, so es war länger geöffnet als sonst.
All das gab mir die Möglichkeit ganz viele tolle Fotos vom Sonnenuntergang und von der Umgebung zu machen.
Another scene from the snow-covered Hohwald forest in Saxony. We're very close to the "Christmas tree" I showed you recently. But I don't know that yet.
Because I won't discover this tree until after I've finished taking this photo.
In this shot, the focus is more on the foreground, where a fallen branch in the withered grass has been transformed into a small sculpture.
That's one reason why I love the forest so much in winter. The snow transforms the most ordinary things, which you would otherwise simply walk past, into works of art.
Eine weitere Szene aus dem verschneiten Hohwald in Sachsen. Wir befinden uns ganz in der Nähe des "Weihnachtsbaumes", welchen ich Euch kürzlich gezeigt habe. Doch das weiß ich noch zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch nicht.
Denn ich werde diesen Baum erst entdecken nachdem ich mit diesem Foto hier fertig bin.
Bei dieser Aufnahme liegt der Fokus mehr auf dem Vordergrund, wo ein herunter gefallener Ast im vertrockneten Gras zu einer kleinen Skulptur verzaubert wurde.
Das ist ein Grund, warum ich den Wald im Winter so liebe. Durch den Schnee werden die gewöhnlichsten Dinge, an denen man sonst enfach vorbei gehen würde, zu künstlerischen Objekten verzaubert.
4 Tage darf ich hier an diesem faszinierenden Ort verbringen. Nicht nur genug Zeit um die besten Ecken und Blickwinkel für hübsche Bilder zu entdecken, es ist auch genug Zeit um mit Ebbe, Flut, Wellen, Sonne, Wolken, Wind, Regen, Hagel, den Vögeln, Seehunden, Muscheln, Felsen und Pflanzen weitestgehend eins zu werden. Entschleunigung als Grundlage für eine nahezu perfekte Naturerfahrung .

It is not only enough time to discover the best spots and angles for beautiful photos, but also enough time to become truly at one with the ebb and flow of the tide, the waves, sun, clouds, wind, rain, and hail—as well as the birds, seals, seashells, rocks, and plants. In Städten und auf dem Land möchte ich zu meiner Erinnerung rasch einfache, entdeckte, stille Stellen zeichnen - immer vor Ort - in der Vorstellung, allein zu sein, auch ohne den überquellenden Verkehr um mich herum. Weil ich aber für solch eine Zeichnung etwa eine halbe Stunde brauche, kann ich nur entdecken, sehen und arbeiten, wenn ich allein bin. Das ist selten der Fall.
In cities and in the country I want to my memory quickly simple, discovered, hidden places draw - always there - in the idea of being alone, even without the overflowing traffic around me. But because I need about half an hour for such a drawing, I can only discover, see and work, when I'm alone. That's rarely the case.

Berühmt wurde sie durch die 1937 von Karl Foerster angelegten Schau- und Lehrgärten mit mehr als eintausend verschiedenen Stauden und über 250 Schwertliliensorten im Wassergarten. Hier kann man nicht nur bei einen Spaziergang die Natur und Garten genießen, sondern auch zahlreiche Skulpturen gibt es zu entdecken. Nicht zu vergessen das Inselcafé und der große Spielplatz, wo man als Familie den Tag verbringen kann. Die Freundschaftsinsel ist ein kleines Paradies unter den Grünanlagen von Potsdam.

Picturesquely surrounded by two arms of the Havel, Friendship Island lies in the middle of Potsdam. It became famous through the show and teaching gardens created by Karl Foerster in 1937 with more than a thousand different perennials and over 250 varieties of iris in the water garden. Here you can not only enjoy nature and the garden on a walk, but there are also numerous sculptures to discover. Not to forget the island café and the large playground where you can spend the day as a family. Friendhip Island is a small paradise among the green spaces of Potsdam.

Bei unserem letzten Besuch in St. Peter Ording haben wir zur Goldenen Stunde bis Sonnenuntergang eine kleine Foto-Tour am Strand gemacht. Ich war erstaunt wie viele schöne Motive sich dort entdecken lassen, wenn man ausreichend Zeit mitbringt.
On our last visit to St. Peter-Ording, we went on a little photo walk along the beach from golden hour through sunset. I was amazed by how many beautiful photo subjects there are to discover when you take the time to really look around.

Ein Ausflug nach Wien
Alle, die keinen Urlaub machen können, mögen mich auf einer Runde durch Wien begleiten. Vorbei an den berühmten Sehenswürdigkeiten, aber vielleicht auch abseits Sehenswertes entdecken ...
… am Fuße der Wiener Urania. Wenn es schön gemacht ist, empfinde ich es als Kunst, die mich durchaus begeistern kann …
Das Gebäude der Wiener Urania wurde um 1910 fertiggestellt und beherbergt heute neben einer Volkshochschule, die Sternwarte, ein Kino, das Urania-Puppentheater und ein Café-Bar-Restaurant.
Hans und Marianne Kraus haben ab 1950 hier ihre Kasperlvorstellungen vorgeführt. Seit 1957 liefen diese auch im österreichischen Fernsehen und waren Teil meiner Kindheit, mit Kasperl, Pezi und dem Drachen Dagobert. Später übernahm Manfred Müller die Puppenbühne und seit 2018 ist der österreichische Künstler André Heller damit betraut.

The building was completed around 1910 and today houses an adult education centre, the observatory, a cinema, the Urania puppet theatre and a café-bar-restaurant.
Hans and Marianne Kraus presented their Punch and Judy shows here from 1950. From 1957 these also ran on Austrian television and were part of my childhood, with Punch, Pezi and the dragon Dagobert. Later, Manfred Müller took over the puppet stage and since 2018, the Austrian artist André Heller has been entrusted with it.
Birdwatching along the Elbe River.
Although the nearest breeding grounds are probably only 100 km away, the black-tailed godwit is rarely seen at this location. That’s why all the birdwatchers were thrilled to spot a few black-tailed godwits among the other birds here.
Uferschnepfe
Obwohl die nächsten Brutgebiete wohl nur 100km entfernt sind, ist die Uferschnepfe an diesen Punkt nur selten zu sehen. Darum waren alle Beobachter begeistert hier ein paar Uferschnepfen zwischen den anderen Vögeln zu entdecken.
