More than 100 Virginia Air National Guard engineers reunite with family, friends and fellow Airmen May 5, 2021, at the State Military Reservation in Virginia Beach, Virginia, after serving on federal active duty in Southwest Asia since October 2020. Virginia National Guard leaders were also on hand to thank them for their service and welcome them home. Airmen assigned to the Virginia Beach-based 203rd Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers, or RED HORSE, were responsible for 15 projects in six countries in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel. Soldiers from the Fredericksburg-based 116th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team conduct a combined arms exercise April 6, 2013, at the Fort A. P. Hill, Virginia. The scenario-driven exercise required the battalion’s military intelligence, engineer, military police, and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear components to work closely together to accomplish their missions. Before I left Colorado my Dad and I were able to hit the snowshoes. We started out on one of the Engineer Mountain trails, but it didn't take long for the trail to become completely hidden leaving us to just forge our own. Hard work! We didn't actually go very far, but had some good fun.
