The park, a public garden, was created through Baron Haussmann's development of Paris; a former quarry was developed by engineer Jean-Charles Alphand (1817-91), horticulturist Jean-Pierre Barillet-Deschamps (1824-73), and architect Gabriel Davioud (1824-81). Work was commissioned by Emperor Napoleon III in 1860, and opened for the Universal Exhibition in 1867.

Engineers and emergency management specialists with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Team - Nevada, along with local and state officials, were in Reno, Nevada, April 6 to conduct assessments of potential sites for alternate care facilities in response to #COVID19.

The site assessments are some of several planned in support of a #FEMA mission assigned to the Corps’ Headquarters. The Corps is assisting the state and FEMA’s efforts with initial site assessments at several Nevada locations.

During emergencies, the Corps is the federal government's lead public works and engineering support agency. The organization is working with the White House, DOD and other federal, state and local partners in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

More than 15,000 personnel engaged, across our enterprise, in our response effort who are providing support both on site and virtually. Of the USACE personnel engaged, more than 1,800 personnel are deployed.

For the sixth consecutive year, engineers and staff from Pima County’s Transportation Department will teach kids how to make asphalt cookies during the “Discovering Engineering at the Mall” event on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event, held at Foothills Mall, 7401 N. La Cholla Blvd., brings together engineers from across the region to increase awareness and appreciation for the profession as part of Engineers Week, Feb. 21-27.

Approximately 160 members of the 116th Engineer Company, Utah Army National Guard, departed for the 12-month mission to support U.S. Central Command with horizontal construction support Oct 4, at Roland Wright Air Base.

The Los Angeles District marked anniversary 237 of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during their annual event June 29.

Under the commander’s motto “Taking Care of People,” the District converged on the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area in Irwindale, Calif.

Engineer Day was the perfect venue to recognize teammates for their decades of service and accomplishments. This year, 78 District employees met the criteria of 10-to 45-years of service. In all, 28 employees were available to receive their award at the event.

An epic trip - 6-hours, 30-miles from Ouray to Lake City, Colorado - with rough rocky patches, switchbacks, shelf roads, and sweeping vistas all the way, reaching almost 13,000 feet at the summit. A Jeep Badge of Honor trail for good reason.

From TrailsOffroad.com: In the late 1800’s, miners started digging for gold, silver, lead and other ore in the San Juan Mountains. They needed a way to get people and the ore out to the nearby towns. Those roads left by the long-abandoned mines are now some of the most famous off-road trails in the books. Engineer Pass, a 30-mile trail, is one of them and is part of a trail now known as the Alpine Loop.

There are multiple mine ruins to view and explore the grounds of along the way including the Hard Tack Mine and the Michael Breen Mine.

Mile after mile provides new and more amazing views of Colorado and the San Juan mountains. Oh Point and the official summit have breath-taking panoramas of the mountains.

This trail goes well above the timberline at just over 12,900’. With the altitude comes stunning views of the mountains to the north including the Uncompahgre, Coxcomb, Wetterhorn and Wildhorse mountain peaks. The view is so expansive at Oh Point that on a very clear day, you might be able to see all the way to Utah if you turn your eyes to the west.

Members of the 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade were reunited with their loved ones over the weekend during a ceremony at Wheeler Sack Army Airfield on Oct. 19, 2012. Welcome home to all of you!
